Chapter 28: I Surrender!
Verati floated in the air with a hand behind his back, and Beelzebub felt an intense confusion coming over him as he wondered what in the world was going on here!
The destroyed mountain and scorched earth all around him suddenly vanished to show that there had been no damage done to the environment at all. Beelzebub tried to move, but he found that he couldn’t! Beelzebub was currently lying on the ground, and he was being held down by a massive hand created from blue mana! Everything that Beelzebub had done until now was only a hallucination that he created in his own mind! A daydream born from Beelzebu’s desperation to defeat Verati! Beelzebub roared up at Verati in anger!
"YOU BASTARD! VERATI! RELEASE ME! RELEASE ME AND FIGHT LIKE A MAN, YOU COWARD!"
Up in the air, Percy stared down at Beelzebub with a bored look in his eyes. Percy was still holding the stack of books in his hand, and his other hand was extended towards Beelzebub to keep him down using his [Mana Projection] skill. This skill allowed Percy to extend certain parts of his body using the mana around him, and Percy could exert as much force as he wanted using this skill, so no matter how hard Beelzebub fought against the projection, it was impossible for him to break free. frёeωebɳovel.com
Percy watched Beelzebub for a few seconds, and Percy could feel a surge of hatred rising from deep in his heart the longer he watched him. All the deaths that Beelzebub had caused just to try and come back to life irritated Percival, and Percival decided that this time he would make sure Beelzebub couldn’t come back no matter what.
Percy called on his mana, and a massive surge of blue energy began to swirl around his body! For the longest time, mages all around the kingdom had been trying to figure out what affinities Verati possessed. During the demihuman war, Verati had used hundreds of different magic types to battle the different enemies he faced, and he had used them at such a high level that there was no way anyone could guess which one of them was his true affinity! But eventually, one of the mages who fought beside Verati during the war gathered enough courage to ask him the question while they were resting after a battle, and the answer the mage received from Verati completely stunned him.
’What is an affinity?’
That one answer allowed the mage to realise something that they had all been overlooking for the longest time! Affinities!? Elemental Preferences!? What do these things matter to someone like Verati!? Those limitations were only placed on the common mortals! People who had to struggle in order to bend magic to their will! Verati wasn’t held back by any of those limitations! Because Verati did not need to bend magic to his will! Magic itself surrendered itself to Verati and allowed him to do whatever he wished!
Percival’s mana swirled around him like hundreds of snakes twisting and turning through the air! They flowed up into the sky and began to form a massive blade that was as tall as a mountain! The blade shone with various bright colors that reflected the white moonlight, and an intense pressure fell upon everything around the city like the aura of a higher god!
Down on the ground, Beelzebub felt dread filling his body as he gazed up at the massive blade! An intense fear came over him, and he struggled even more against the hand holding him in place as he screamed!
"VERATI! FIGHT ME! FIGHT ME LIKE A MAN! VERATI!"
The blade in the sky began to spin like a massive drill, and Beelzebub let out a cry of fear that sounded like something straight from the pit of hell! Beelzebub’s eyes were wide, and he began to spit black fire at everything around him to try to escape! A gale wind picked up across the region and blew through the mountains and plains! The winds carried Beelzebub’s cries with them, and Beelzebub’s fire was easily snuffed out before it could do any damage! Beelzebub’s face twisted in anguish, and he looked up at Percy as tears began to fall from his eyes!
A realization of his own death began to come over him, and Beelzebub was immediately reminded of the feeling of fear he had felt the last time he faced Verati! Back then, Verati hadn’t even been this strong, but it only took one swing of the sword for Verati to completely eradicate him! The only reason Beelzebub survived that fight was because he was lucky enough to find the [Statue of Eternal Rest], and he hid inside it until someone resurrected him! If Verati kills him this time, it would really be the end!
Beelzebub had to shout even louder just to try and speak to Percy!
"FINE VERATI, I SURRENDER! YOU WIN! YOU WIN! JUST STOP! STOOOPP!"
The massive sword in the sky was now moving so fast that it looked like a perfect cylinder, and Percy waited until it was moving at the speed he wanted before he released his hold on it.
TWOOM!
The drill shot down to the ground like an arrow and stabbed straight through Beelzebub’s body and into the ground! And then, the magic in the blade detonated, and a supernova tore through the region!
KA-BOOOOM!
The explosion was large enough to be seen for miles in every direction, and the shockwave from the blast was destroying windows more than a hundred miles away! A massive mushroom cloud rose into the air, and all the mountains for five miles in every direction were immediately obliterated by the attack!
Percy was still floating in the air with one hand behind his back, and he watched calmly as the smoke and fire swirled around dangerously! It took a few minutes for the explosion to finally die down, and once it did, Percy began to float down to the ground. Percy reached to the side, and his hand vanished into his Dimensional Storage Space, and he pulled out a small jar that had a large rune carved into its body. Once Percy reached the ground, he looked around for a few seconds to make sure that Beelzebub’s body was completely disintegrated by the attack before Percy raised the jar into the air and poured mana into the rune.
[Soul Prison]!
The rune on the jar immediately activated and glowed with a bright blue light as it began sucking in a white mist from around the area! This jar was a special artefact Percy had created during his battle against a colony of ghouls. Ghouls were difficult to fight since they were basically ghosts and they could phase through physical matter easily, but with his jar, Percy could retrieve any ghost, ghoul, soul, or spirit in the area and trap it inside!
Bwooohhh!
A low groaning sound echoed through the air as Beelzebub’s soul was pulled into the Jar! The soul tried desperately to run away, but no matter how much it struggled, there was no way it could escape from a rune created by Percival himself! The white mist was completely sucked in by the jar, and once it was done, Percival shut it closed and threw it into his storage dimension.
Percival put his free hand behind his back again, and he looked around with a calm gaze. The land here was completely destroyed, and it would probably take a long time to fix it, but Percival knew that this was better than leaving Beelzebub to do what he wanted, and Percy simply floated off the ground and began heading back to Aquinas. Percival wanted to take care of Beelzebub’s soul once and for all.
’Oh, right, I still have to give these books to the Orphanage. I’ll head back to the library after I’m done.’
