Chapter 6: Amy Silver

-----

Theon continued to stare, wide-eyed at the girl who clung to him and sobbed endlessly.

’What the hell! She looks just like Amy,’ Theon thought.

Amy was the young woman who he met at the convenience store each and every time he went to buy food to eat. One of the few people that understood and recognized him as a true friend and not just a pawn to be used because of his talents. She was also supposed to be his girlfriend.

Sadly, he died before that ever got to happen.

Looking at this young girl in front of him reminded him of her. He almost thought she had died and reincarnated too.

Luckily, the old Theon’s memories were there to guide him.

The lady in front of him was Amy Silver. She also had long flowing black hair with bright blue eyes. Another clear feature of how much she looked like the Amy he knew back on Earth.

She and Theon grew up in the same orphanage and were childhood friends. Heck, people who usually saw them at first glance would think they were siblings.

Unlike him who had awakened a Gray purity resonance core, she had awakened a Gold purity resonance core and was instantly termed as a genius.

Their social standing became clear almost immediately as the way both of them were treated varied greatly.

But even with all the power and attention Amy had garnered, she never changed. Whether it was her character or her attitude towards him, it all remained the same. The same went for how much she cared for Theon. Her love for him was almost like an obsession.

In fact, no one dared to bully or speak bad about Theon while she was close to him. Because they knew— they knew they were just poking a sleeping, hungry beast with a stick and waiting for its reaction.

It was why each time Theon was beaten, it was when he was alone and isolated. Where no one could come and save him even if he screamed.

"Why are you so quiet!?" Amy suddenly demanded, pulling away from his grasp. Her once teary eyes now shone with a hint of annoyance and anger. "And why do you keep staring at me like that?"

Theon, who was still baffled by her appearance, hurriedly regained his composure. "Sorry! I didn’t mean to... I was just caught by surprise with the way you latched onto me."

"W-well, that’s only because I was worried." She blushed. "And I was only worried because you have been missing for the past two days. Just where did you go, and without telling me too?"

Theon’s eyes widened. "Wait... What did you say?"

Amy raised an eyebrow. "Didn’t you hear me the first time? I said where did you go?"

"No! No! No! Before that... what did you say before that?"

"What is wrong with you today? I said you’ve been missing for the past two days!" she answered. Truth be told, she was especially worried about Theon’s current condition.

She couldn’t exactly place her finger on it, but it almost felt like even Theon himself was confused about his predicament. She only kept her cool after seeing the way he clenched his fists when she answered his question.

Amy couldn’t help but bite her lip in frustration. From the moment she had awakened her resonance core, she tried her very best to protect Theon from the spite and bullying he constantly went through.

While her presence helped considerably, it was only effective while she was with Theon. It had the complete opposite effect when he was alone. Every time she had left him alone, even if it was for a brief moment, he would come back battered and bruised.

Worst of all, whenever she questioned who did that to him, he would brush it off by bringing up another topic of discussion.

She bit her lip harder. ’Dammit Theon! Why do you like shouldering everything alone!’

Theon’s head though was currently in shambles. ’F**k!! This is worse than I thought. I’ve been missing for two whole days, and the academy didn’t even bother to search or run an investigation?

Two things are at play currently. It’s either the Academy doesn’t give a shit about the safety of the students, or...’ He squinted, ’One of the staff was also part of the plan to kill me, or worst-case scenario... Ordered the kill...’

’This situation just keeps on getting worse...’

"Theon..." Amy suddenly interrupted him from his line of thought.

"Please...please, promise me you will be more careful. I don’t know if I can keep on bearing to see you injured and beaten each and every time I meet you." She whispered softly.

She knew that even if she asked what was wrong, he would laugh it up and say ’It was an accident.’ She couldn’t understand why he kept on doing this. Was he trying to protect her? Wasn’t it supposed to be the other way round? She was the stronger one, she was supposed to be the one protecting him.

Theon’s body loosened up a little on hearing Amy. ’You are one lucky guy, Theon. You have someone who cares about you this much...’

He placed his hand on her shoulder.

"You don’t have to worry any longer, Amy..." he walked past her and towards the dorm gates. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com

"I promise you, from now on... You won’t see me with any injuries ever again!"

At a large tower, a distant figure stood atop, their hands behind their backs as they observed Amy and Theon.

"I see..." the figure smiled. "So you managed to survive this time as well. But no need to fret. Next time... you won’t be so lucky!" freeweɓnovel.cøm

The figure then vanished into thin air, as though they never even existed.
