Chapter 41: Floor 50: Cleared

------

"I can’t believe it! He actually did it! He beat the 50th floor!"

It was hard to believe, but that was the reality he was currently witnessing.

In all his life serving as the director of the academy— only a few students where able to reach the 50th floor, and even among those select few, none had been able to clear the floor. freewebnovёl.ƈom

The crowd also seemed just as amazed as him as multiple cheers erupted in the arena— mostly from the students.

The instructors stared with wide eyes as they watched the scene unfold before them.

A loud laugh suddenly echoed around the instructors stand.

"That’s right! That’s my student!" Instructor Gerald declared with a loud voice. "I taught him everything he knows."

He burst out laughing once more.

This only lead to more confusion among the instructors, because they all knew he was an instructor of the Ashborne Hall.

If so— did that also mean this student was from the Ashborne hall?

It was a very hard thing to believe, but those were the facts they where being given.

Instructor Sylvia watched from the back, a calm smile on her face as she watched the screen.

Meanwhile, within the special guest stands, the atmosphere had already become strangely tense.

Multiple masked figures quietly stared at the screen displaying the golden-haired student who stood calmly in front of the shattered mirror.

Then— one of them finally spoke.

"I want that boy."

Another guest suddenly let out a short chuckle.

"And what exactly makes you think your family deserves him?"

The first guest folded his arms.

"Because unlike certain people here, we actually possess the resources required to raise a monster of that level."

A female guest laughed softly.

"Raise him? Don’t flatter yourself. A genius like that isn’t someone you raise, he’s someone you try not to hold back— and that is exactly what your family is capable of. Hindering his progress."

Another masked figure leaned forward.

"His mutation type resembles the blessings granted by the god our family follows. If he joins us, his growth will be far smoother than anywhere else."

"Oh?" someone scoffed. "And what if he simply surpasses your entire family instead?"

The room went quiet.

Another voice sounded.

"Absurd combat talent... overwhelming adaptability..." He slowly shook his head. "If our families can’t secure him, then one of the Ten Great Families will."

One of the guests smiled beneath his mask.

"Who said we’re planning to recruit him?"

The room grew quieter. The words left most of them in shock, because it most definitely meant the ten great families were in attendance as well.

"We could simply marry him into the family." Another voice suddenly sounded making multiple heads turn.

"...You shameless bastard."

The guest shrugged.

"I’m merely thinking ahead."

Another voice sounded calmly—

"You’re all speaking as though the boy already belongs to you."

Their eyes shifted.

The masked figure slowly crossed his legs.

"Have any of you considered the possibility..." His eyes narrowed. "...that he refuses all of you?"

Meanwhile, within the Tower of Trials, Theon turned his head.

Amy was on the ground, tears streaming down her face. Lucius faced the same predicament, except he wasn’t crying— but he was shaking.

Reed and Damon were both on their knees, their faces pale and their fists tightly clenched.

It was clear each of them were struggling with their truths, but Theon didn’t plan on letting it continues.

He stretched out his hand and whispered softly, but it came out as a command.

"Divine Judgement!"

Four powerful bolts of lightning fell from the sky and collided with the mirrors, shattering it immediately upon impact.

Theon made sure the bolt of lightning struck the mirror precisely to avoid injuring the four students but the impact still sent them flying.

Luckily, none of them emerged with any injuries.

Pouring his essence into his legs, Theon jumped from his platform to Amy’s.

She was still lying flatly on the ground but she was slowly gaining consciousness.

Theon knelt beside her, and slowly placed her head softly on his lap, forming a makeshift pillow to let her lay more comfortably.

Her teary eyes slowly fluttered open. Everything was blurry at first, but once everything cleared up— her gaze met with the golden eyes that stared at her softly.

"You alright, Amy?" Theon asked softly.

Her eyes slowly grew watery once more.

"T— Theon!" She whispered, her voice shaky.

Then—

The next moment, she reached out and her arms wrapped around his neck tightly.

"Thank the gods! I-I thought you died. . . I thought you left me!" She blurted out, tears streaming down her face like a dam had been broken.

"Dead?" Theon chuckled and patted her head softly. "I thought I promised you that I won’t get hurt again, or don’t you believe in me?"

He smiled faintly.

"I don’t care—" she nuzzled her face closer to his chest. "I’m just glad you’re alright!"

Theon’s gaze remained warm, his smile growing more soft as he continuously rubbed her hair.

He was not used to this level of closeness as he had never experienced it before, but it wasn’t a bad feeling either.

’To be loved.’

"Tsk! I didn’t expect to wake up and the first thing I get to see is you both romancing yourselves." Lucius muttered, dusting his uniform.

He jumped and landed softly on Amy’s platform.

"And what the fuck was up with this trial?" He asked as he walked over to Theon and Amy who were still in an embrace. fгeewebnovёl.com

"It was an illusion meant to test our mental strength—" Theon started calmly. "I think it showed us our deepest fears and forced us to confront them."

"So that’s what it was," Reed’s voice suddenly echoed. He too jumped and landed on Amy’s platform.

"Yes, and it looks like none of us were able to beat the trial—" Damon said, jumping onto the platform as well.

"Well, except Theon that is," Damon said, his gaze lingering on Theon. "After all, he as the one that released us from the illusion."

Both Reed and Lucius’ gaze shifted towards Theon. Even Amy raised her head slightly.

They all had the same question at the back of their minds. ’How did he do it?’

Before any of them could ask, the melancholic voice echoed in their heads simultaneously.

[Floor 50: Cleared]

[Congratulations on clearing the Tower of Trials]

A large golden door suddenly appeared before them in a blinding flash of light.

"Well, what are we waiting for," Theon said calmly, standing up from the ground while lifting Amy as well.

"Let’s go!"
