Chapter 21: The Search Party

-----

"Theon?"

"Amy?"

Amy stared at the scene before her eyes. Theon stood tall, his white and gold uniform stained with blood.

Below him lay another student on the cold ground. He clenched his rib with his left hand and his face was slightly bruised.

Then, kneeling down beside the body of the student was a brown haired, ember eyed female student. Her eyes were opened wide, and her mouth had formed an O.

’What is going on here?’ Amy focused her gaze on the female student. ’And why is that girl so close to Theon?’

"Amy? What are you doing here." Theon asked, his voice carrying hints of confusion. No one knew about his whereabouts.

’I thought this place was supposed to be a secluded location—’ then, his eyes widened with realization. ’Don’t tell me someone placed a tracker on me.’

"What do you mean, what am I doing here?" Amy folded her arms and pouted. "We’ve been searching everywhere for you. We thought you had gotten yourself in trouble again—"

"Wait, We?" Theon stopped her. "What do you mean we?"

Suddenly, another figure rushed through the door.

"Damn it Amy," Lucius exhaled, grabbing his knees while panting heavily. "Next time... Try and tell us before rushing off—"

Two more figures followed behind, walking in calmly.

"Well, were you able to find him—" Reed paused, his eyes landing on Theon who stared at them silently.

"Theon?"

"Wait, what? He’s here," Lucius quickly lifted his head, then his eyes widened the moment his gaze landed on Theon.

"THEON!!" He rushed over, arms spread open. His aim— a brotherly embrace.

Theon did not let that happen though. He grabbed Lucius by the head and stopped him in his tracks before his arms could wrap around him.

"We thought you were dead, man," Lucius said, still trying to force himself forward.

Theon sighed softly. ’Of course it was them.’

The only person that was still conscious when he had declared he was going to see Adrian was Reed.

He must’ve told the rest of them.

’Knowing that they can’t beat Adrian, they must’ve asked Amy for help.’

"What happened here?" Reed asked, his gaze flickering coldly towards Reacher who already sat up to get a better look at the newcomers.

Reed still clearly remembered him from the cafeteria. ’He was the one who knocked Damon out.’

"Oh, him—" Theon pointed at Reacher. "It was just an argument that got out of hand, right?"

His eyes flickered towards Reacher.

It was just a second, but Reacher understood what Theon wanted him to do.

He simply nodded, agreeing with Theon’s claims. ’Even his friends don’t know about his sudden increase in power, huh?’

"I see," Reed paused, then continued, "So how come your completely unscathed yet he looks like he had been run over by a truck?" frёewebηovel.cѳm

Theon chuckled nervously. "Luck I guess,"

"Plus, she’s a healer." He pointed at Maya. "That’s why I look completely fine. I was way more injured before."

"I see," Reed shifted his gaze to Maya, who still stood quietly.

Even Lucius, Damon and Amy had to look at her differently after hearing about her ability.

Healers were incredibly rare, even in an academy as large as this, healers were only about twenty in number.

Amy stared at Maya quietly. ’She’s a healer. And she healed Theon. That means she must have laid her hands on him.’ Her eyes grew colder causing Maya to shiver under her cold glare.

Reed saw this and could only shake his head. ’I really pity you, Theon.’

From the very first time Reed got to know both Amy and Theon, he noticed that Amy always became— well, dangerous whenever she noticed any female near Theon.

It didn’t matter whether they were her age or older, she always found a way to chase them away from Theon.

Hell, no girl in their orphanage dared to step a meter close to Theon in fear of what Amy might do to them.

And even now in the academy, she still had that attitude towards any female student that tried to get close to Theon.

Reed’s gaze softened when they landed on Maya once more. ’I pity you too...’

Reacher observed the four students quietly. ’They all seem like average first year students—’

He paused.

’But these two,’ he glanced at Lucius who still hadn’t stopped trying to "embrace" Theon, and Amy who was still glaring at Maya coldly.

’He might be as strong as me, maybe even stronger—’ his gaze lingered on Amy longer. ’But her—’

’She might already be as strong as Adrian,’

’She might have easily put a stop to everything Adrian had been doing to you,’ Reacher gaze shifted back to Theon. ’So why did you keep it hidden this whole time?’

"What about Adrian?" Damon asked, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose. "Weren’t you here to meet him."

Reacher saw this as his signal to step in once more. "He wasn’t able to come, so he sent me instead."

Damon squinted his eyes. The whole situation looked incredibly suspicious. Adrian wasn’t here, and someone who was clearly stronger than Theon was the one on the ground— injured.

He didn’t push on further though. The truth would come out eventually. It always did.

Amy slowly walked towards Theon. When she got close, she grabbed Lucius shoulder and moved him away from Theon with little to no effort.

Then she spoke softly. "Are you sure you’re okay, Theon?" She placed her hand on his face softly. "You don’t have to hear everything alone. We are here for you."

Theon stared at her bright blue eyes that shone with worry, then he placed his hand over hers and slowly removed it. "Don’t worry, I told you I’d be fine from now on, didn’t I?"

He said softly. Amy’s gaze lingered on his fir a short beat. "Fine, I trust you— we still have to go to the infirmary though. Who knows whether you still have some hidden injuries."

"What?" Theon’s mouth opened slightly. "But I told you that she healed me already." He pointed at Maya once more.

Seeing this, Maya screamed internally. ’What is wrong with you! Can’t you see she doesn’t like me! He can’t be that dense, can he?’

Amy’s gaze flickered towards Maya, then she whispered coldly. "I don’t like her, she’s suspicious."

Maya flinched. ’This woman might be scarier than Adrian at this point.’

Theon sighed. It seemed Amy didn’t plan on letting him go that easily. Not once in his life had he succeeded in convincing her to change her mind.

"Fine," He agreed with raised hands. "But can we leave now, I’m really tired."

A wide cheerful smile spread across Amy’s face. "Yayyyyyyy! Let’s go," she grabbed his hands and dragged him out of the building.

Damon, Reed and Lucius stared again their retreating figures with apologetic looks, all of their thoughts aligning towards one thing. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

’You really are a dead man, Theon.’
