Chapter 13: The Training Hall
------
Immediately after leaving the lecture hall, Theon left the Ashborne hall. He had already planned on attending no other class, so he immediately headed towards the training hall.
The training hall was not as far as people made it out to be. It didn’t take him up to thirty minutes before he reached the large doors of the training hall.
The training hall itself was an incredibly massive building, designed like a modern day football stadium on earth.
Multiple students walked in and out of the large doors of the training halls, with those coming out looking either sweaty and tired or bloodied and injured.
Theon sighed slightly. ’I feel like this training is going to be more intense than I thought it to be.’
He began walking towards the large doors once more. They stood above a flight of stairs. Though he wouldn’t call the amount of stairs as plenty, he wouldn’t say they were small either.
He climbed up the stairs with slow and steady steps, then once he reached the steel doors, they slid open on their own.
The moment they opened, he stepped in and his eyes widened at the sight of the training hall’s interior decor.
The floor was made up of a marble-like material, and walls seemed to be made out of a silver like material that cause the lights to bounce of both the walls and the floor.
A large reception stood in front of him and behind the counter stood some of the academy’s personnel stationed as receptionists.
They were dressed in a white and black outfit, and seemed to be receiving requests from the students on what type of training they would like to enroll in.
Theon didn’t linger and looked for a receptionist who looked less busy. His gaze finally landed on a dark-haired female receptionist at the far end of the counter.
She looked— well, disheveled compared to the other receptionists. Her hair dark hair was tied into a messy bun, and her uniform was wrinkled and slightly unbuttoned.
And worst of all, she looked like— she was sleeping.
He hesitated— pondered whether it was the right decision to actually meet with this weird looking person, then finally sighed and walked over to her.
"Hii—" He called out, but her head simply stayed lowered, like she hadn’t heard a single thing.
He looked around with a perplexed expression, before tapping her once more. "Excuse me?" He said, a little more louder this time.
Immediately his hand touched her, she flinched then shot upwards from her sleeping position.
"Huh? What’s happening? Is it closing time already?" She asked around confusingly. The female receptionist beside her sighed tirelessly. "No, Rebecca. A student needs your attention."
Rebecca looked at the female receptionist lethargicly. "What!!" Why can’t you handle it!?" She groaned lazily.
"Are you mad!" The female receptionist exclaimed. Can’t you see the amount of students I have to attend to." She pointed at the long line of students who looked at the two arguing receptionists awkwardly.
Rebecca looked at the long line of students, then sighed helplessly. "Fine. I guess I can try and handle this one today."
She turned and focused her gaze on Theon who looked at her skeptically.
"What do you want, kid." She asked lazily.
Theon sighed. ’Perhaps it really was a wrong decision to meet with this weird woman.’
"I want to use one of the training facilities."
"Which one? Just describe what you want and I’ll tell you where to go." She lazily pulled out a tablet.
"I want a place where I can spar and also practice my abilities." He said, after thinking of what he wanted. fгeewebnovёl.com
"I see." She removed the pen hanging at the top of her ear then wrote something down in the tablet. "Your name?"
"Theon Grey"
She wrote what could only be his name down, then after adding some other information, she dropped the tablet and stared at him lazily.
"Third floor, fifth room to your right." She said lazily, handing him a weirdly shaped key with a tiny button at the middle. "When you reach the room, just tap the button."
"Thank you." Theon bowed his head lightly.
"Yeah, yeah! Just get out of here so I can keep sleeping." She waved him off and laid back down on the counter.
Theon smiled awkwardly. ’I can see why she wasn’t attending to any student. Her attitude is shit.’
He glanced at her once more, then walked over to the elevator that took him to the third floor. Once the elevator door opened, what greeted him was a long corridor, with a line of doors that faced each other.
"She said fifth room to my right, right?" He walked slowly, counting each door at his right before he finally stopped at the fifth door.
The door seemed to be constructed from the same material as the one used at the front door of the training hall.
He stared at the door for an extra second before pressing the button.
The door slid open the moment he clicked the button, then once he stepped in the door slid back and closed, then a click was heard, signifying that he had been locked in.
"I guess only the key can open the door." He muttered to himself, the turned and looked at the white empty room before him.
It was looked as large as a miniature field. "I can’t believe the room is this big. And there is multiple rooms such as this, maybe even bigger rooms infact." He whispered. "Maybe I underestimated the size of this building."
"But now—" he looked around confused. "What exactly am I supposed to do in this empty room."
His gaze scanned the room, until he finally found what he was looking for. At the edge of the room was a glowing screen attached to the walls.
He walked over to the screen and his gaze widened when he found out what the screen was. "A menu?"
On the screen, countless options where laid out such as the amount of targets one needed.
Then under those were options such as whether he preferred humans or beasts as opponents. And beneath those were options for the rank of opponents he would like to fight.
"I see—" Theon pondered. "So it’s basically like a game then."
He grinned. "Luckily I’m quite good at games."
He selected the amount of opponents he would like to fight against. "I guess I will go with humans first, and as for the rank—" he hesitated. "Since I’m an E Rank, I guess I should just go with that."
Once he finished selecting the options he wanted, another option popped up on whether he would prefer his opponents to fight back or not.
Theon smiled slightly. "Of course I want them to fight back, how else would this be considered a spar."
After selecting it, another option appeared.
"Difficulty level?" He muttered. "Let’s go with hard for now."
Immediately he selected the option, a sudden shift in the atmosphere of the white room occured.
The ground suddenly began to morph into what could be soil. Green grass began to grow from the ground and the white room in which he stood before had disappeared, instead it had been replaced with a large field.
Theon looked up at the bright sun shining above him. "I really underestimated the advanced technology of this world." He said, squatting down to feel the soil.
It felt completely real. Hell, even the breeze that blew across the field felt complete real.
Suddenly, the appearance of countless presence caused his head to snap upwards. A group of ten men approached him, each carrying weapons.
Their eyes showed a hint of greed and and pure bloodlust as they approached Theon slowly.
"Ahhh! I finally see why students usually left this place injured." He sighed.
