Chapter 15: The Horsemen
Valoria had a lot of cities, seven to be exact. Argon City was the most military-enhanced since it was the nearest to the large hole that led to the Floors.
Old York City was selected to be the most industrious, a place purely made to be the main producer for everything people in Valoria would ever need. But the least crowded of them all was Capital City, which was where the main HQ for the Breakers was built.
The Horsemen had driven for hours in what looked like an executive black-windowed car that only politicians or billionaires used to ride in back on Earth.
The smell of perfumes cooled the air as it diffused into their noses. Inbuilt fans scattered on the walls made the indoor experience feel priceless.
Leo wondered for a sec how the Founder had managed to bring the car into the new world, but he just dismissed the thought as he got lost in the moment.
They passed through what seemed like well-serviced tar roads and forests. It was a nice change of pace from the heavy sun locations they had been through for a while.
Jennifer and Leo sat at the back, startled by what was transpiring right in front of their eyes.
Two strangers had just picked them up out of nowhere, saying the Founder wanted to meet with them.
They didn’t have proof yet, but they knew it had something to do with the Knight of Flames coming to Floor Number Two.
A few more minutes later, the cars finally arrived in Capital City. Different skyscrapers scattered everywhere, some for companies, others homes for its citizens. The streets looked so clean that even if an ice-cream fell on the ground, you would feel comfortable picking it up and eating it.
Leo looked out the black windows in curiosity . Just by seeing the environment, he could notice the sudden shift in status of the place. Unlike Argon City, which was filled with many vendors and freestyle businesses, in this city everyone had class, almost like they were nobles.
’I guess this is what the General was talking about. This is where the rich and influential people live, those that were given a chance to transmigrate.’
He wondered while one of the men in front looked at the back seat using the front mirror.
Unlike Leo, who was getting accustomed to the place, Jennifer was so nervous that she began eating her fingernails. Being with Leo was the only thing still holding her together.
The black car finally stopped at a large area covered by a tall white-colored metal fence around it. On the gate entrance was a large golden horse sigil plastered onto its walls.
"We need to get out for the confirmation process," one man advised.
Leo slowly got out and so did Jennifer, walking carefully so they wouldn’t aggravate their internal injuries.
One of the Horsemen went to a microphone near the walls of the entrance.
"Horsemen 48 and 49 coming from retrieval mission code number B559."
The man muttered while pressing his finger on a red button. The camera on top of the fence turned toward all of them, scanning their faces and making sure they weren’t intruders.
A static sound came through a speaker first, then a voice followed.
"Code number B559 confirmed. You can enter!"
The gate finally opened as the four went back into the car, progressing even further into the massive compound.
The compound had several buildings, each with different purposes built into their infrastructure, but behind them all was the largest skyscraper that the Horsemen said was their destination. freewebnovel.cσ๓
Upon reaching it, they got out of the car. But when they wanted to enter, the Horsemen just stood still near the car like they were not going in with them.
"We cannot go inside with you. This is where our journey ends."
They said with straight faces, keeping their emotionless mysterious vibe constant.
Leo looked at Jennifer for a second, suspicion clouding his judgment. For the very first time since their journey, he hesitated.
His mind raced in all directions, but for him to truly know what was going on, he needed to enter the building. So he gathered all the courage he could muster and went inside.

The two appeared in a spacious waiting lounge, with a lot of potted plants scattered in the corners, spreading a delicious fragrance into their noses.
Sigils of different animals were scattered all over the halls. Leo never knew what they meant, so he didn’t waste much time on them.
There were a subtle lot of people conversing on different matters. When Leo tried to listen to what they were saying, somehow even though the distance in-between wasnt that huge, he couldn’t quite map out the words. All he got were blurs and murmurs.
If that was not weird enough, surprisingly, none of them seemed to have realized that someone new had entered into the lounge.
The experience left Leo and Jennifer speechless , so they just stood frozen near the door .
Leo could feel his danger senses tingle, just like they flared when the Knight came.
"Something has to be wrong here."
He whispered to Jennifer, getting her scared attention.
"I get it that we are far from those people, but we should at least be able to hear a word of what they are saying."
Jennifer narrowed her eyes for a sec, shutting out everything so she could try to hear what the people were saying, but no matter how hard she tried, she only came up with gibberish, almost like they were talking in a language that didn’t exist. freёweɓnovel.com
"Y-you’re right."
Her eyes widened, the fear she was hiding growing even stronger.
"And that’s not the only thing. I’ve worn glasses before. If there was glass in front of me, I’d know. Right now, I can see it all around us."
Jennifer decided to take her own experiment to test Leo’s theory. She tried moving forward and the moment she stepped five steps further, she slammed into something completely invisible to her, more like an invisible wall stopping them from moving deeper into the crowd.
’That’s why the Horsemen didn’t want to come with us... but the question is, what do they want us to do here? Do they want us to break it down?’
He pondered as he rubbed his hairless chin, going into deep thought.
He was about to conjure his fire technique when suddenly Jennifer whispered, breaking his trance.
"Leo, look over there."
She pointed at a weird-looking girl who was among those conversing but had now started moving towards them.
Leo’s eyes froze on her. At first he thought maybe she just wanted to get to the door, but after their eyes crossed, he had no doubt that she saw them or atleast sensed them.
Jennifer went a few steps back as the girl walked even further towards them.
When she reached the point where the invincible barrier was supposed to be, she passed through it like there was nothing there until she got a few feet away from them. Her face looked so neutral that Leo couldn’t decide if she was happy or sad.
Until—
"Ahhahaha!"
She suddenly started laughing.
"I can’t believe you saw through my technique. My name’s Katelyn, the Number Seven Best SS-Ranked Breaker."
