The five stood puzzled as they looked at the Beakbeasts. With how they looked, it seemed like something else completely different had done it.
Jake moved closer to the corpses, squatting near them like a detective trying to crack a case.
Leo moved closer as well, the smell of burnt flesh going up his nose. For dungeon animals they did smell great like barbecue.
When he got near one of the corpses he opened his screen to see if any points came into his account.
[Points: 1800/2000]
For a second he was completely baffled but then he remembered what the driver had told them earlier.
"When you kill a beast you get its points distributed to every member of the squad."
’So because we didn’t kill the beasts we can’t get the points.’
"But guys I don’t get it," Sabrina began.
"Since the beasts are all dead shouldn’t there be a door to send us to the third floor?"
She did make a lot of sense, if the conditions of clearing the floor were met, then it meant there had to be a door somewhere.
"But don’t you think that’s weird, if we can all agree on one thing , is that something happened that wasn’t meant to happen."
Jake rose from the corpses as he tried to calculate what the best possible scenario for them was.
"I also think we shouldn’t dismiss everyone’s theories since we don’t know anything yet. That means we only have one choice, someone should climb the trees."
"Wait, to do what?"
"To check if the door out of the floor has been opened."
Leo chipped in.
"Precisely, and to check for any animals too."
"Let me do it."
Leo leaped on the offer before anyone could. It surprised the others at first but still they understood the situation he was in. In the last fight he didn’t do anything to help the others since he was Null and by the look of things that status wasn’t changing any time soon. So they reckoned he just wanted to help in any way he could.
"Alright then, it’s in your hands."
Without wasting much time, Leo climbed the tallest tree that was in that area of the forest. Back in the old world his parents usually stopped him from climbing trees given that he was sick but now that everything had changed he finally had a chance to explore something he never did.
"He really seems to enjoy the climb."
Sabrina noticed it as she stood near Jennifer who had all her eyes locked on him, daydreaming that Leo was climbing her instead of the tree.
"Yeah, he is freaking fast too."
Ken commented, when the full two minutes were over, he had already reached the peak of the tree.
On top of the tree, the wind blasted all over Leo trying to make him lose his balance, luckily there was a branch near him he held on to.
He was so far away from the ground that fear of heights had already started to settle in his heart, his gut coiling with fear.
The crew looked like little ants from where he was.
"Leooooo!"
Ken shouted from underneath, his voice barely reaching him.
"What do you see up there?!"
It was endless rounds and rounds of forest, from all sides it all seemed like the same thing over and over again.
’If we kept on walking like we did, we would’ve just been moving in circles.’
He figured.
He put his right hand on top of his face so that the sunlight couldn’t destroy his vision as he looked for anything unusual in the forest. He searched for some minutes until finally he found something weird to their east.
’What in the hell is that?’
It seemed like something was glowing there, the light looked small but it sure was a lead for them. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
Without wasting much more time he descended the tree, his feet stepping on the plant filled ground.
"East from us, I think there is something, can’t say for sure if it’s a door or someone’s magic."
Leo muttered reporting to the others like a student who just finished his research. So the team followed Leo’s lead as they went east.
They walked for less than thirty minutes just passing trees, luckily the light had finally begun to get visible proving that they were on the right track.
With hope in their hearts they got even closer to the light only to come across something much more surprising on the way.
They saw large footprints, not bare but like from a shoe, it didn’t look fresh, more like whatever it was had passed through that area hours ago.
No one spoke anything, they wanted to but the fear just stole the words from their mouths.
’Whatever thing can have a big leg like that one can’t be weak.’
Leo pondered as he looked at it in fear.
But they needed to get closer to whatever the light was if they wanted answers.
So after passing through other tree branches they finally arrived at the spot of the light.
In front of them in a clearing was a door to the third floor, shining bright, its light hitting their pupils.
"We freaking did it!"
Ken shouted with celebration as he jumped up and down walking toward the door. Sabrina and Jennifer followed as well, but as for Jake and Leo, they didn’t move a muscle, the whole situation didn’t make sense at all.
’First we come into the floor and we don’t find anything. After a day we luckily find the corpses of the animals we were supposed to kill to clear the floor, even though we don’t know what killed them. After meeting a large footprint on the way, we find the door.’
In Leo’s eyes it looked like a setup, like something wanted them to find the door.
Suddenly.
Zap!
A portal appeared out of nowhere. A tall portal that stretched taller than most of the trees in the forest.
The three rushed back towards Jake and Leo in fear.
"Resume battle strategy!"
Jake screamed like a military commander.
Immediately Ken came to the front, just behind him was Sabrina and Jake. Jennifer and Leo were at the atmost back.
Suddenly, a large metal boot came out of the portal, its size exactly like the footprint they saw earlier in the forest. Then another followed out of the portal until the rest of the body finally came out.
The tall muscular figure looked like a knight, yes those medieval warriors that wore metal from top to bottom. But this one was different, the holes where there were supposed to be eyes instead had menacing fire. It looked like fire was driving the whole thing.
Behind on its back was a blade that mixed metal with lava, emitting heat that reached the crew making them sweat even more.
Their hands trembled at the sight in front of them, all their instincts screaming for them to run. But no matter how they tried they couldn’t raise their feet a meter from the ground.
Everyone’s system screen came on, displaying attributes they had never seen before.

"How did something from floor 15 get on floor 2?!"
Leo screamed at the others as the knight started to emit rounds of heat that had started to burn away their suits from their bodies.
Veins bulged all over Jake’s neck as his eyes widened without blinking.
"This thing is just too powerful, we have to fucken run or we are toast-"
Right before he could finish his sentence, the knight moved at extraordinary speed that none of them followed, then punched Ken who was in front of them, on the head like a bug, crashing his bones and body with extreme force into the ground.
In one second they were five, in the next they were four.
