Chapter 63: She can testify
"She...’’
Daisy tried to remember the face of that unconscious woman. Half of her face was covered by blood because of the blunt force by which Diana had hit her with the vase. But Daisy was good with her skills. As she recalled the remaining half of her face and pieced the features together, it dawned on her where she had seen the woman before, ’’It’s Si Yena’s maid.’’
They did not have many exchanges in the past but when they were young, she had seen that woman by Si Yena’s side a couple of times.
’’Precisely,’’ Helian Chen nodded, ’’That is the reason why we cannot negate the possibility that Si Yena is involved in this, regardless of where she is. Because from what I have figured, that woman is immensely loyal to Si Yena, not the Si Family.’’
Diana frowned, ’’But why would a maid be so loyal to Si Yena only, and not the whole family?" Regardless of anything, she must have been hired by the Si Family to serve Si Yena so how can her loyalty lie in Si Yena only?
’’You lie down,’’ Had it not involved Diana, Maxim could not have been bothered to pay attention to the affairs of the Si Family. However, watching the woman sitting and burning her brain cells so passionately still put him on the edge.
Diana rolled her eyes but still obediently laid down.
The interaction between them did not escape Helian Chen’s eyes. The man felt a sense of relief from inside when he saw how his one daughter had found herself the right companion for herself. He wished nothing more than the same for Daisy as well.
He knew both his daughters were capable enough to survive without anyone, but the father in him had always felt the regret of neglecting them when they needed him the most. At this age, they probably did not need him anymore but he wished that they would find some companionship and warmth for themselves.
"Dad... Dad...’’
Diana’s voice snapped him out of his reverie.
The man cleared his throat to suppress the emotions that were clouding him.
’’The reason why she was so loyal to Si Yena and not the Si Family was that she was selected by Si Yena despite not being the best candidate out of all the maids that had come to serve her,’’ Daisy said, reminding an old conversation with Si Yena when they were younger where Si Yena had randomly talked about it.
’’However, she did not know that it is a pattern for Si Yena,’’ Helian Chen spoke up. On his way to the hospital, he had looked into every possible angle of the situation and done his investigations right so that he could get to the bottom of the matter, ’’Every bodyguard, every servant or every friend of hers was manipulated by her into believing that they were not perfect, they were flawed but she was kind enough to accept them regardless of how lesser they were.’’
Diana felt a layer of goosebumps covering her arms. Mind games were the worst of everything a person could ever play, ’’Why would she do that?" she could not believe that a woman like that was Daisy’s friend for so long.
’’Because she knew that her position in the family was not significant. Si Family had their sons to prioritize. What Si Yena wanted was people of her own who could sacrifice their lives for her if the need arose, just as that maid who readily barged inside our event despite knowing of the dangers that might befall her if she is caught.’’
Diana sighed.
Daisy looked out of the window, no one knew what she was thinking, ’’What happened to the both of them?"
She asked after a moment.
Maxim, who had remained unmoved throughout the conversation, raised his head to look at Helian Chen following Daisy’s question. He also wanted to know what happened to the people who had the nerve to corner Diana in such a compromising position. The thought of something bad happening to her while they were all clueless chilled his heart.
"The man suffered from multiple internal injuries, and died on his way to the hospital," he said nonchalantly as if he was not talking about a life that was lost, "The woman survives for now."
However, Diana did not buy his tone. From what they told her, the man was beaten by both Daisy and Maxim but did they beat her to death? She also attacked Si Yena’s maid with a huge vase and her injuries did not look light. If she can survive, how can the man die?
And...
"What do you mean she survives for now?" Diana questioned, "And did the man really die from internal injuries?"
Helian Chen glanced at his younger daughter, and a helpless look appeared in his eyes. He should have known better than to discuss these things in front of her. But now that he already said it, he did not know how to make it sound better to her.
"He is killed and she will be too," Daisy did not mince her words in front of Diana as she spoke, without giving their father a chance to sugarcoat it, "She is probably alive just so she can testify. Whether she says a word or not, she will die." ƒrēewebnovel.com
Helian Chen looked at Daisy like he was getting to know her for the first time. He knew his daughter was proficient at many things. The last time when she broke into the Chen Manor disguised as a thief, initially he also thought it was a thief. But when he saw the mess in Diana’s room and not a single stuff stolen, except for the card from ’Light Orphanage’ that he had long left there assuming that Daisy would come one day he joined the dots and figured out that the said thief was none other than Daisy.
Despite knowing his daughter, he was still shocked by how nicely she could calculate all his actions without even knowing the whole story.
