Chapter 337: Look for Lu Xian?

’’Daisy, don’t you think we should get tested first? Who knows... one of us might be a match...’’ Diana placed a hand upon Daisy’s shoulder.

Maxim shook his head, ’’Unless Angel has inherited the Thalassemia genes from your side, it would be difficult...’’

’’Is there no alternative to surgery?" Suddenly, Daisy looked up at Maxim.

Maxim’s face was solemn but eventually he shook his head, ’’It would lead to future complications even if she makes it past this today...’’

As he was speaking, he trailed off. Maxim’s eyes locked with Diana. Both of them realized that Daisy was more concerned about the surgery instead of thinking of the donor. With Angel’s father absent, what were they supposed to do from here? Did she not consider that?"

’’I will look for him,’’ Ryle’s words fell like thunder in the silence.

Everyone turned to look at him. But Ryle did not avert his gaze from Daisy, ’’I will look for Angel’s father...’’

’’I have been keeping this from you for a while now but maybe I know who that person is.’’

’’What do you mean?" Daisy met his gaze.

Ryle briefly narrated the leads regarding Lu Xian that he had received previously.

There was pin-drop silence in the place.

’’In fact, I had my suspicions regarding it. I thought someone was manipulating the situation behind the scenes and I was not wrong about it. But after further investigations, I discovered that Lu Xian was there that night....’’ Ryle moved the wheelchair closer to Daisy as he held her hand, ’’I don’t know if it is true or not but we don’t have a lot of time to waste and he is our only lead so I will get my people to look for him...’’

’’Why didn’t you tell me any of this before?" Daisy cut him off.

Ryle opened his mouth to respond but he could not utter a word.

Why didn’t he tell any of it to Daisy before?

There were many reasons and none of them could be expressed by him in words.

He knew how terrible that memory was for Daisy. She loved Angel but she hated that night. He did not want to affect her emotions in any way.

He wanted to protect her from everything that haunted her.

And worst of all, he was selfish. He wanted Daisy and Angel all to himself. He hated the possibility of someone else joining the equation.

He hated the very notion of Angel calling some other man daddy. Or Daisy having to deal with that bastard when she did not even ask for it.

He knew that a DNA test would have quelled all his doubts and made things easier back then.

But he kept delaying it, knowing that if the DNA test led to a positive result then he would be left with no choice but to tell Daisy.

And the thing that bothered him the most was that if Lu Xian did turn out to be Angel’s biological father, then he would kill that motherfucker for hurting Daisy. But in doing so, he would also kill Angel’s father...

Ryle was not really an overthinker but in this case, he had defied his own perception of himself.

So, in the face of Daisy’s ’Why didn’t you tell me any of this before’, Ryle remained silent.

The atmosphere was heavy.

’’But even if it is Mr. Lu, how do we get to him?" Ivy was the one who spoke, diverting everyone’s attention.

Ryle’s grip on his wheelchair tightened. He hated that bastard Lu Xian everytime he occupied Daisy’s thoughts even if it was for a few seconds.

He suppressed the green monster that was rearing its head inside him and forced himself to remain calm for Angel’s sake.

’’And that was the last time I saw him. Before that, he had limited public appearances but after that he completely disappeared from the public’s eyes. The Lu Corporation no longer exists. Before he left, he emptied the company from within, suffering the entire loss all by himself,’’ Ivy shook her head, ’’It was very weird.’’

’’And it should have affected Chen Corporations too, given that you owned a decent amount of shares of Lu Corporations but he compensated for the loss. The Vice President is well aware of it but since the situation was handled smoothly, he might not have mentioned it to you in the current circumstances.’’

Ivy paused for a moment before she continued, ’’I have heard that some of the old and loyal directors have been looking for Mr. Lu for some time now but they have yet to find him. Even if we start looking for him right now, I am afraid it won’t be easy.’’

’’It doesn’t matter... We cannot sit still,’’ Ryle shook his head, ’’With his family dead, he is our only option.’’

Ivy nodded, ’’I will see if I am able to track his recent movements.’’

Maxim also added, ’’I will get in touch with the Qin Family. Even though they are low-key in recent years, they have a wide network for intel in the country. There should be some result...’’
