Chapter 328: He must stay
’’The moment the child was put inside the enclosure, her weight triggered the mechanism. If you want to protect the child without causing a blast, you’d have to put something of equal weight in there, not a single point off the mark.’’
Si Yena smiled, ’’And now that we have two people in her, you cannot substitute them with something of equivalent weight, can you?"
Daisy’s fingers curled into fists.
’’Let me mention this as well. You might want Ryle and Angel to stay in there till your people managed to take my people down but this mechanism has two conditions,’’ Si Yena raised her hand, ’’If the weight is removed, the bombs would explode immediately. But even if it is not, the bombs would be activated in half an hour and the blast would still go on.’’
Ryle held Angel tighter in his arms, the blood that covered his body smeared all over the little girl. He looked up at Si Yena calmly, ’’They have nothing to do with this entire thing.’’
’’Hmm?" When Si Yena gazed at him, the nonchalance in her eyes could not be seen anymore. Rather, there was a hint of rage and hatred, ’’After all these injuries, can you still negotiate with me? Such a tough nut, aren’t you? Men—"
’’I didn’t lie, did I?" Ryle glanced at the woman with a provocative smirk, ’’I am right here, whether you want to kill me or torture me.’’
’’What are you getting at?"
’’Nothing much,’’ Ryle spoke unhurriedly, ’’All that time, Daisy had treated you with sincerity. She trusted you and respected you...’’
Daisy looked at the man’s injured back. Not an inch of him was not covered in wounds. The spot where he knelt was covered in a pool of blood.
And the reason he held Angel in his chest so tightly? To prevent her from seeing him like that.
’’But what did you do? You let her down again and again. Now after all this time, you have come back for revenge. Revenge...’’ Ryle laughed, ’’Quite funny if you ask me but what does Daisy even owe you?"
’’If you still have not figured it out, why don’t you ask yourself? Who is the pathetic of us all present here in the face of death?"
Si Yena looked at Ryle with bloodshot eyes. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
’’Stop...’’ Daisy looked at Ryle’s back, hoping the man would stop provoking Si Yena. But it was as if Ryle could not hear her at all.
’’Fine...’’ Si Yena slowly nodded as she turned to Daisy, ’’Not that I ever had the intention to harm you. I merely wanted you to watch this show. But now that your man has spoken, let me get to this...’’
She turned to look at the group of men that stood in the hall.
One of them retreated and came back with a bag.
The man extended his hand towards Daisy.
But Daisy did not accept it immediately.
’’It is the exact weight of the child. You can take the child and throw the weight in to replace her,’’ Si Yena smiled, ’’Now, never think that I wanted you dead. You can go from here. But your lover must stay.’’
At this moment, Ryle finally turned around.
Holding Angel in his arms, he looked met Daisy’s gaze.
Daisy opened her mouth to speak but he cut her off.
’’You must leave,’’ Ryle whispered.
’’I...’’ fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
’’I have blamed myself for a lot of my past actions. Some were intentional and some were not, yet all of them caused you great harm. I even hunted you down for years, not caring if you wanted to be found by me,’’ Ryle smiled gently as he watched a drop of tear rolling down the corner of her eyes.
’’You mattered to me a lot. Even before I knew of your identity, your gender, your secrets and anything of your life, I was pulled towards your soul. And at times, I would wonder if I was sent back to the past, way before I even met you, would I prepare myself well?"
Holding Angel’s hand, he walked towards her. Step by step.
’’Would I treat the only love of my life better? Would I be there for her when she gave birth all by herself? Would I never cause her any distress and protect her from anything that comes her way? Would I protect her and her... our daughter...’’ Ryle’s smile turned a little wider, ’’forever?"
"And, despite knowing how unpredictable things can be, I would always think that I would...’’ Ryle did not step out from the enclosure.
Standing on the edge, he cupped Daisy’s cheek and pressed her forehead, ’’I would burn the world for you.’’
’’And I would burn myself down along with the rest of the world if it means I can save you and Angel.’’
’’Ryle...’’
’’Don’t say another word. Leave.’’
Daisy froze when Ryle pushed Angel towards her.
Her body moved on its own.
She supported Angel with one hand while her other hand grabbed the weight back from the guard’s hand.
In a split-second, the bag landed on the glass enclosure, settling the weight before the mechanism could go off.
’’Leave now.’’
"How hearttouching...’’ Si Yena supported her face in both her palms, clicking her tongue, ’’You can leave now though. After I deal with him, I will come find you and we will continue our conversation over a cup of tea, hmm?"
Daisy did not look at the woman.
She spared Ryle one last gaze before picking up Angel.
As soon as the girl was picked up, she lost consciousness in Daisy’s arms.
Daisy turned around and left the place decisively.
’’Tsk Tsk..’’ Si Yena clicked her tongue, ’’Who is the pathetic one now?"
"Aren’t you afraid of death?" Ryle’s gaze lingered on Daisy’s retreating back for a moment longer before he turned around.
’’You are in this condition and you can still threaten me?" Si Yena laughed.
’’If I step out of this place, then all of us will die here. Didn’t you consider that possibility even for once?"
Si Yena’s face changed...
