Chapter 317: Demolishing
The butler, having worked for the Kingsleys for years, was smart and efficient. His loyalty laid in the man who was the head of the family and with his experience, it was not difficult for him to tell that the family had already undergone a huge shift of powers. The one in control was no longer Nathan Kingsley but rather, Ryle.
However, he had miscalculated one thing.
’’Don’t bother,’’ Ryle calmly stated.
"Master, are you firing us?" The corner of the butler’s eyes revealed deep wrinkles as he spoke, ’’I have offended you many times in the past but back then, your father was the master but now...’’
’’He is not my father,’’ Ryle spoke calmly, ’’And this should never be forgotten by you.’’
When he spoke up to that, he did not notice Daisy’s gaze that had snapped to her face.
’’For the rest, we are leaving this place tonight. And this mansion will be demolished in a week. From now, the Kingsleys would cease to exist.’’
The butler’s lips trembled, his eyes wide with shock.
The servants behind him went into uproar, their faces revealing panic, disbelief and denial.
Even Daisy paused briefly when she heard. She was not surprised or shocked because she had expected this to happen; however, it never occurred to her that he did not even want to wait for a while before executing it.
Nathan Kingsley was alive now but Ryle was already declaring him dead with this action. She realized the fact that even if Maria did not exist in this equation, Ryle had never intended to leave Nathan alive. But with Maria present, Ryle left the man to his own karma and the people he had sent were to ensure that the man died without any signs of remaining breath.
She had another realization that made her inhale a deep breath. When Ryle said that the Kingsleys would cease to exist, he probably meant there would be no Kingsley after Nathan. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
Ryle did not count himself as a part of them and he had taken his mother’s surname years ago. Did that mean he had been planning for this day since then? Had he been plotting his family’s downfall since he was a teen?
These questions, she might never ask him for what was gone and dwelling further on the past would only dig his old wounds.
Something inside her refused to accept it that this man in front of her, spent his childhood in the rage of an impending revenge.
But for most parts, Daisy knew that her assumption was true. Only someone who had been prepared for this day for ages would be this calm and unfazed when it happened.
The servants and the butler seemed to be shaken after Ryle’s revelation. However, the man in question nonchalantly held her hand and guided her in a direction.
They had just walked to a little distance when Ryle stopped in his tracks and commanded the butler, ’’Prepare for the dinner. If anything, make it a big last feast,’’ his voice was at ease as usual, as if nothing had gone off in all that time.
Daisy sighed and tightened her grip on his hand, ’’They are all shocked,’’ she whispered as she let him guide her. She was curious as to where he was taking her.
’’It is better for them to leave this place and start afresh.’’
’’Are you...’’ Daisy trailed off, cutting herself short. She wanted to ask him if he was certain about ending the legacy of Kingsleys just like this but then she realized that the question no longer made sense at all when all of Ryle’s actions and decisions have been leading up to this point since the very beginning.
However, he seemed to have seen through her mind, ’’Almost all of their strongholds have been destroyed. Nathan Kingsley has lost his power even without realizing it. This mansion is merely a cover at this point.’’
Nathan had been in the delusion that only a few of his deals and strongholds had been compromised and the revelation that he was left with almost nothing dropped on him like a bomb out of nowhere. For a man who had been on top for all his life, he was forced into a corner.
Daisy doubted for how long the man could even retain his sanity.
’’As for the servants here, they have done dirty jobs for the Kingsleys for however long they have served them. Disbanding them is no less of a liberation,’’ As Ryle spoke, he stopped in front of a room and pushed open the door.
However, he did not enter immediately.
Rather, he stood at the door for some time.
Although his expression did not give anything away, Daisy felt his grip tightening on her hand. After a while, he let out a small smile, ’’It’s good that this place is still untouched.’’
Daisy glanced at the room which was completely clean. Compared to the tower room which was covered in dirt, this room seemed like it was being regularly cleaned and maintained.
’’Is it your room?"
Ryle nodded, ’’Used to be,’’ he stepped inside the place and let her wander around the room, ’’In fact, it used to be my mother’s room. They had never shared a room after their wedding night.’’
Daisy looked at him.
’’You look at me like I am a puppy.’’
Daisy pursed her lips. frёewebnoѵēl.com
Ryle chuckled, ’’When you look at me so pitifully, I have the strongest urge to act pitiful, you know?"
’’You can. I don’t mind.’’
If somebody else said this, Ryle would not have been bothered with it as it would have come across as somebody merely teasing him or making a joke but when Daisy, with her most intense gaze uttered such words so solemnly, Ryle felt his turning into a puddle. He was so unfamiliar with that mushy feeling that he felt suffocated. It felt so sweet and so overpowering at the same time.
