Chapter 260: A deduction

Ryle’s eyes narrowed.

’’No... Not ash blonde like blondie...’’

The blondie he was referring to was undoubtedly Daisy. While Ryle did not like how the form of address almost coming out of the woman’s mouth seemed like a nickname for Daisy who was at that time Dexter’s disguise and sported a head full of blonde hair, he suppressed his displeasure and waited for the woman to continue.

’’The man who dragged blondie in had golden blonde hair. Striking golden blonde.’’

A familiar image flashed in Ryle’s mind, straight from his subconscious and the bizarre thought made a tingle shoot up his spine, his fingers that were twirling the pistol shook for the first time and the pistol landed on the table surface with a soft sound.

Angel had blonde hair too and Daisy believed it was hereditary in their family. Even though Daisy had dark raven hair, her mother and her sister had blonde hair due to their American origins and Daisy surmised her daughter got it from them which was a possibility.

It had always been the only possibility until now when Ryle had the bizarre image of a man with golden blonde hair stamped in his mind.

It could not be him. Ryle gazed at the woman coldly, motioning her to continue.

"He had a figure similar to yours, slightly leaner and perhaps a few inches shorter. He was dressed in a tuxedo and it almost made him look out of place. As if he was at a big business meeting or something and not in an illegal nightclub party...’’

Ryle paused and pulled out his phone. His fingers tapped over the screen and he glanced at the picture displayed on his phone. freeweɓnovel.cøm

He gazed at the picture for a moment before turning it towards the woman.

But before he could say a word, the woman’s eyes widened in recognition. She had the same look on her face when he stepped inside the room and she recognized him as the ’handsome’ man she had seen back then.

And no further words were needed from her...

’’Yes, it’s him. He is the man I saw with blondie that night.’’

...to confirm that the man she had seen that night was Lu Xian.

...

Benjamin had been standing at the entrance of the suite for almost an hour. There were no movements and he had almost let down his guard, thinking that nothing could probably go wrong after so long. But just then, he heard the door opening with a soft ’click’ and the woman stepped outside.

She was covered in sweat and her hands were still shaking when she gave him a snarky look and walked past him.

"Where are you going?" Benjamin blocked her path.

’’Y-You... What else do you want...?" the woman jumped, ’’I answered all his questions and he let me go... You.. don’t you work for him? Why are you going against his orders?"

’’You mean Boss let you go?" Benjamin was suspicious. He did not know what his Boss was looking for by scourging through the events of a particular night in a random nightclub but as someone who had worked for him for years, he would be horseshit if he did not understand that whatever it was, was actually damn important to the man.

And they just had gotten some clues. This woman was one of the most solid leads they obtained. Then...

’’Let her go,’’ an unperturbed voice came from inside.

Benjamin was stunned.

The woman shot him a nasty look.

Despite his reluctance, Benjamin stepped to the side and watched the ’lead’ he found with utmost difficulties hop away from him.

The woman left the hotel without looking back. It almost looked like she was being chased by demons.

The hotel was surrounded by men in black. They were discreet but still noticeable. Holding her breath, the woman rushed out of the place. She hailed a cab at the entrance. Once she got inside the cab, she kept looking back.

Once she saw that nobody was following her, she breathed out a sigh of relief and pulled out her phone, ’’I did what you had asked me to. Now, let go of my brother please... We will go back to the States once you let him free. Please, I beg you...’’

...

When Benjamin entered the room, he found Ryle calmly sitting on the table, right where he had been sitting when Benjamin left the room but there was something disquieting about the room.

Ryle sat quietly, his gaze focused on the table. On the left, there laid a gun and near his right hand was a glass of water.

’’Boss, do you have any orders?"

Ryle did not look up, "Have you been tracking her movements?"

’’Boss, I got onto it when you texted me,’’ Benjamin wordlessly pulled out his phone and played the recording.

’I did what you had asked me to. Now, let go of my brother please... We will go back to the States once you let him free. Please, I beg you...’

There was no response from the other side but only the woman’s familiar voice reverberated in the room.

’’Boss, shall I capture her?"

’’No need. Let her be. Just an insignificant pawn,’’ Ryle leaned back on the chair.

Benjamin tried to hold his curiosity but he could not restrain him for long, ’’Boss, you were in the middle of a conversation with her then why did you suddenly ask me to plant these things in her devices?"

When he was waiting outside, he received a very vague text from Ryle.

It had two words—’Phone surveillance’

Benjamin managed to connect the dots and he acted on it but at that time, he did not understand why Ryle wanted to track the woman’s movements. After all, initially, he had not paid heed to it and plainly treated her as a witness. There was no reason for them to expend so much effort for a witness who might or might not have witnessed anything crucial. freeωebnovēl.c૦m

Hearing the woman’s one sided conversation on the phone call, Ryle’s judgment was undoubtedly accurate.

But how did he make such a deduction?
