Chapter 243: Reconsider your choices?

Daisy looked at the girl. When she had first met her back in LA, Ivy was living with Diana, younger than them all, somewhere in her early 20s. Now the girl was in her mid 20s. She looked the same but in some way, it seems like she had matured even more than she already had.

Previously her thoughts were readable but now, it was hard to decipher what she thought or what she felt. For instance, right now, she seemed like a happy and innocent young woman who was free of worries.

But if the mature conversation she held with Daisy was anything to go by, then this was a contradiction.

Ivy would say that she was like this because she was simple-minded. And people would buy that.

But Daisy did not believe that such contradictions in someone’s personality appeared out of thin air. There is always cause and consequence.

And while she was not fully aware of what had transformed Ivy into someone who knew how to wear a mask and carry a facade, she was aware that the girl’s experience in the past few months had not been pleasant.

Initially, she had thought she would go back to her normal self in no time but now it looked like those things had impacted her greatly.

’’What happened?" Ryle noticed her gazing at Ivy quietly while Ivy blabbered about how this desolate place can be turned into a horror movie set or how she can visualize such a haunted setting in the new game she was working on.

With Ryle’s question, Ivy’s words also came to a halt. freēwebnovel.com

Sitting in the backseat, Ivy glanced at Daisy who sat in the passenger seat while holding a sleeping Angel in her arms.

Daisy shook her head, ’’How are you liking it at work so far?" she asked instead of stating her concerns as they stepped out of the door and took the long cobblestone path that led to Caleb’s house.

’’It’s very good,’’ Ivy blinked, ’’Everything is better than how it used to be.’’

Her words were rather direct but Daisy did not feel comforted. The company was still growing and it was barely being renovated now. Just how worse did she have it to find it better?

Ryle shot Ivy a brief look of displeasure but he averted his gaze before Daisy could catch it. It tugged a few nerves of his when people had no peace. Especially the people around his woman.

Angelic as his Daisy was, she couldn’tr take it when the people around her kept crashing or falling, literally or metaphorically, and she would go out of her way to worry about them as if she had any less worries in her life. If Diana was not the one messing with Daisy’s sanity, then it would be the company that had landed on her lap like a hot potato. When it was none of them, Ivy took the position instead.

’’I like it much better,’’ Perhaps sensing his woman’s worries, Ivy spoke up, ’’People are better and even the place. It’s way too lavish, objectively speaking. I am not being materialistic here. Above all, it’s warmer here with all of you.’’

Ryle’s expressions improved when he heard her words. At least, this one has some conscience here. Daisy’s efforts were not an entire waste.

Daisy’s expressions improved. She raised her hand and patted Ivy’s head, ’’I am happy to know that.’’

’’Now that I see it, this place really seems wrecked,’’ Ryle muttered under his breath and both the women turned to him, ’’We have been talking and walking for so long but we still have to reach the house.’’ fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

Unlike Ivy, he did not go by the logic of a haunted house. That nonsense was far beyond his comprehension but it rubbed him the wrong way to see people making such a fuss over a roof they needed to stay under.

Just buy a damn normal house and settle in.

Daisy chuckled when she saw the expressions on his face.

Ivy burst into laughter when his expressions worsened even further.

’’There there,’’ Daisy unconsciously raised one hand to pat Ryle’s shoulder.

Ryle’s face brightened slightly in the dark. A little annoyance can get him a few pats from her now? Had he known, he would have stopped to kick a full fledged fuss right there instead.

’’It indeed doesn’t match his personality,’’ Daisy muttered, agreeing with both Ivy and Ryle.

Caleb seemed like a peacock at normal times who kept all his prettiest feathers on display. For a person like that, this house was so out of place, so contradicting to his personality.

’’You guys are here finally. I thought you had a change of plans,’’ Caleb smiled as he opened the door for them.

Daisy responded with a polite smile which went stiff the moment Ryle opened his mouth.

’’We were walking down the aisle. Took us forever, as you can see,’’ there was no touch of a smile on his face.

Ivy stifled her laughter.

Holding Angel in one arm, Daisy pinched Ryle’s hand discreetly with the other.

’’Young man, you don’t seem like you have health issues. How come you are tired after such a small walk?" Caleb wiggled his brows, stroking his chin thoughtfully, ’’Daisy, girl, how about you reconsider your choices?"

Ryle choked on the air. This scoundrel!

Daisy was speechless as she watched Ryle turning red and blue in anger. Apparently, she was worried for Caleb for nothing. The man was equally sassy, if not more.

Ryle settled a possessive arm around Daisy’s waist and held her closer, feeling comforted in her warmth.

The rest of the world can go fuck themselves while he lived on with his princess.

Fucking scoundrels. It took him ages to finally seduce her a bit but these snakes were already plotting to keep them apart.

If not for Daisy’s and Angel’s first hand presence in front of him, he would have ripped the semblance of civility he carried on himself.
