Daisy’s heart raced unconsciously and her lips parted slightly. She opened her mouth to say something but no words came out, ’’I...’’ she removed her hands from him and averted her gaze, looking everywhere but at him.
Ryle did not rush her. He stood there like a pillar, unmoved and unhurried in the slightest.
And that made Daisy feel an immense amount of guilt. It would have been fine had he not been so kind to her and had been a little less understanding but he seemed to have all the time in the world to listen to the words she might never say.
’’I... I don’t know...’’ Daisy did not stutter. She was not a person who stuttered, not under any circumstances but in that moment, she did not know what to say and how to say.

Daisy felt something warm in her eyes when faced with his sincere gaze, ’’I have never blamed you for anything.’’ Deep down, she had always known that he was right in his place. Nobody would want to be betrayed by someone they trusted.
If she had been in his place, she would have been equally offended if her trusted employee kept their identity as a secret. Both of them were bound in their own circumstances back then.

The constant ringing of his phone interrupted the ambience in the place.

’’Let it be,’’ the man hugged her and settled his face in the crook of her neck, relishing in her scent.
Daisy sighed and hugged raised her hands to hug him back.
The call got disconnected but the phone rang again.
Daisy patted his shoulder, ’’Answer it. Maybe it is urgent.’’
Ryle sighed, ’’Check who it is from and put it by my ear,’’ he said, seemingly reluctant to part from her.
Daisy did as he said. ’’It’s from Benjamin,’’ she said after she took out the phone from his pockets and checked the caller ID. She swiped the answer option and placed the phone by his ear.
’’Boss, boss, we found her! The situation seems optimistic this time. We finally found....’’
The excited voice of the man trailed off in the distance when Ryle pulled back from her, holding his phone.
The lack of his warmth made her feel a little cold. Daisy quietly got off the kitchen counter and watched his expressions changing. There was a hint of softness in his eyes, ’’Be careful. Don’t be impulsive. I will be there. No...’’
The man cupped her face and motioned that he needed to leave.
Daisy patted his palm and nodded at him.

Daisy walked out the kitchen and watched as the man rushed towards the living room. He stopped near Angel and kissed her forehead and whispered something to her before he got up and left.
And the moment he disappeared from her sight, an emptiness settled in her chest almost instantly. She stood there, feeling strange about the weird feeling in her heart.
In the end, she averted her gaze.
But her eyes fell on the batter of the strawberry cupcake. On the side, there were cutely sliced strawberries, which were kept there in different shapes.
Daisy looked at them for a long time until she heard some noises from outside. When she looked up, she spotted Angel slowly walking towards the main door from where Ryle had left.
Daisy walked out of the kitchen, ’’Ask the cook to store the batter and fruits properly and start preparing the lunch. Tell him I will make the dessert later,’’ After instructing the butler, Daisy sped her footsteps when she spotted Angel almost walking out of the door.
Once Daisy reached the main door, she held the little girl’s hand and knelt in front of her, ’’Where are you going?"

Daisy stroked the girl’s head, ’’Yes?"
’’Mommy... Mommy...’’ Angel raised her little hand and pointed it in the direction where Ryle disappeared in, ’’Raeel... leave... leavee...’’
’’No, Ryle did not leave,’’ Daisy smiled at the little girl, ’’He had some work to tend to so he had left temporarily so he will soon be back.’’
Daisy pulled the girl into her arms and started talking about random things to divert her attention. Over these months, she had realized that her little girl was sensitive compared to other kids her age. She understood the conversations between adults and she became easily attached. She learned it the hard way last time when Angel fell sick after crying constantly when Ivy left for her new job.
So, this time she handled the situation with extreme care because she was aware that knowingly or unknowingly, Ryle has not just made a place for himself in her heart but also in Angel’s heart as well. Hence, she did not dare to deal with the matter lightly or leave any scope for the situation to sadden Angel in any way.
’’Mommy... Raeeel...’’
Hearing the little girl’s voice growing softer, Daisy felt a trace of panic and immediately stood up while holding the girl in her arms, ’’He will be back soon but in the meantime, let’s go and meet Ivy.’’
’’Vi?’’ Angel was successfully distracted.
