Chapter 124: I am afraid you will run away
There was a bottle of wine in the wine bucket and a variety of dishes on the table.
Her lips parted, ’’You..’’
Ryle removed unmoving, still waiting for her to take a seat on the chair that he pulled for her.
’’The terrace is not often used in the mansion so I thought I should make some use out of its existence,’’ he said when she remained standing rooted to her spot, without showing any intention to move.
’’When did you prepare all this?" Daisy gradually recovered her senses and questioned in a light voice.
’’I came back more than an hour ago. I wasn’t hungry and heard that you hadn’t had your dinner. So, thought we should eat together.’’
Under her persistent stare, he explained briefly, making it sound extremely simple. But was it?
Was it really that simple?
Daisy did not recognize the strange emotions that overpowered her anger, her indignance, and her resolution to not talk to him. She found those emotions so foreign, so new.
She looked at him quietly for some time, wanting to rebuke him or be angry about previous things. But when she saw his expectant gaze as he pulled the chair and wanted for, she realized that the man was silly enough to starve himself and make all these preparations.
And her feet seemed to have grown a consciousness of their own as she walked towards him before taking a seat quietly.
Ryle pushed the chair in before he walked to the other side.
They did the dinner in complete silence because Daisy focused her attention on the food without bothering to initiate any small talk with Ryle. But even so, she could feel his burning gaze focused on her.
After they finished their dinner, Ryle spoke up, ’’Try the brownie. I have heard it’s a specialty around this place.’’
Daisy paused and looked at him before she proceeded to taste the brownie.
After a moment, she nodded before taking another bite of it, ’’It’s good,’’ she nodded.
Ryle’s lips curved up.
After their dinner was over, Daisy pushed herself to her feet, ’’I’ll go back to my room now.’’
Ryle’s eyes narrowed as he pushed himself to his feet and walked towards her. In two larger strides, he was standing in front of her.
Daisy did not budge in the slightest. When he stood in front of her, she thought he was going to address the things because of which they had stopped talking in the first place.
And she had no issues with that because she might have been touched by his efforts but she was not going to forget all her anger and be sold for the delicious food that he fed her.
However, all her reasons and logic stopped to a crashing halt when the man grabbed her with both his strong arms and held her up again in a princess carry.
Daisy’s brain was producing a ’zzz’ sound definitely because she could not process the development of this matter at this point. What was happening?
However, when he walked past the swimming pool, her survival instincts kicked in and she gripped his shirt tightly. If he were to throw her in the pool after he fed her out of anger, then she was going to drag him down with her too.
As if Ryle could read her haywire thoughts, he chuckled deeply while walking past the pool, ’’I won’t. Trust me I can’t bear to.’’
He could not bear to hurt her, or even think of hurting her.
And for a man who had been labeled as destructive, a jinx that doomed everything and everyone around him for all his life, he found solace in the fact. He was comforted by his strong protective instincts that never seemed to falter in the slightest when it came to her.
’’Ryle, why are you carrying me around?" Daisy initially wanted to ask him to put her down but knowing that her words would fall on deaf ears, she changed her words.
’’I am afraid you will run away.’’
’’What would I run away from?" she frowned.
’’From me,’’ he said indifferently.
"_"
Daisy fell speechless. She wanted to retort to him but given her past records, she did not feel like it was an ideal thing to say that she was not that kind of person.
Ryle walked to the other end of the terrace before he sat on the couch and adjusted Daisy’s position on his lap. He lifted her legs and folded them on his legs such that they would not touch the floor.
There was no distance between them and Daisy was practically cocooned in his arms, tucked in a way that she was warm. But the proximity made another kind of heat rise in her body.
She moved her bottom, trying to get off the man.
But he held her hips tighter and pulled her close till she was snuggled even closer.
’’What are you doing?"
’’If I start doing things, you might be offended,’’ his voice was husky and soft but she could hear the promise in his tone, ’’Tell me, do you want to be offended?"
Daisy’s body and mind were in complete chaos. She could feel all sorts of things inside herself. And there was this insane urge to lean closer to him, to touch him, to be touched by him, and things that did not justify the mature conversations that he had had weeks ago. Everything regarding balancing their equations, and being friends and all that.
Daisy inhaled a deep breath and held onto her semblance of sanity. freёwebnoѵel.com

’’Why did you bring me here?" Daisy wanted to ask in a resolute voice but when the words came out of her mouth, they sounded coquettish, almost soft and seductive.
She was unfamiliar with what she heard and she refused to believe that it was her.
"Are you angry?" Ryle cut to the chase without going in circles this time.
