Chapter 313: The Last Wish

Skyla held her breath wondering what new trick he was trying to pull now. He wheezed a little and spoke again with difficulty.

"Those papers are in our room. There is a loose panel on the floor where that blue divan used to be. Pick up the rug and tap the floor, you will find it. Your father’s company is yours again....That’s what you wanted...I only kept it so you wouldn’t leave me." He smiled, a smile of his pain and regret, a smile holding his heartache and desperation.

In his mind, he was finally setting her free for he knew he didn’t possess much time now. Not understanding she was already free of him.

But that revelation about the papers came as a shock to Skyla. He had deliberately kept them so near her and yet she had remained oblivious of that fact. It angered her so much more. Plus she knew Doran Blackthorn was a power hungry hyena. He kept the company for power and control.

"That company was always mine. If you think I will feel any pity for you for giving me back what always belonged to me, then you are wrong," Skyla simply stated. Not giving into his tactics that he loved to use on her. She still thought he was trying to play mind games with her.

"I am not asking for your pity. Just a favour. Bury me after you people are done with me and tell my mother about it. I know no matter how disappointed she is in me, I will always be her son. She would need closure. Give it to her," he asked in a pained voice, desperation clinging to it.

Skyla knew Amsilia’s and Doran’s relationship had fallen through because of his actions against Skyla. But the fact remained that she was still his mother.

"You still think I am incapable of doing it?"

"I am sure of it, Skyla. You are innocent and will always be, irrespective of what I did or what the world did. That’s the part that attracted me to you in the first place," he answered, leaning his head against the backrest.

"Well, I will show you what I can do." Frustratedly she turned around and walked out of the room, opening the heavy door.

She rushed to where Zyair and Kail were. Zyair had a camera installed in the room Doran was being held in. He had been watching in case Skyla needed help. Seeing her exit while in such a bad mood he knew something was said by him.

She entered the place and went straight to where Kail was sitting. free𝑤ebnovel.com

Holding out her hand, Skyla demanded in agony.

"I need your gun. The one you shot Doran with earlier."

Kail was perplexed to say the least, he confusedly glanced at his ma’am and then at his boss who was now standing beside Skyla. He was trying to assess what had her so triggered. Not that anything that came out of that fiend’s mouth was less triggering.

"Sky! Let’s calm down. What did he say?" Zyair asked, carefully taking her hand in his so he wouldn’t startle her.

She turned to face her husband, her chest ached.

"He needs to go for us to have a normal life and he thinks I can’t end his wretched life. I am going to show him that I can. Gun, please," she asked again from Kail.

Zyair gestured with his eyes to Kail and he quietly got up and proceeded to where Doran was. Giving the couple some privacy to sort this out.

Zyair gently held her shoulders and made her turn to face him. The frustration and hurt were so clear on her features.

"That’s not your job, Skyla. I would never let you have blood on your hands. Taking a life is no joke, even the life of someone evil. It haunts you forever. Believe me, I know this."

Zyair had killed Diego, the person his mother had sold him to and the one who tortured and raped him the most. The memory still haunted him. He never wished that for Skyla.

"But... I want him gone. That hold he has on me I want it to end," she lamented, not knowing how she will ever move on.

"Sky, trust your husband. I wanted to prolong torturing him but I guess we have reached the point where we want him to just disappear from our lives. Come."

Zyair guided her forward and she quietly followed.

They entered the room again where the devil had been imprisoned. Kail was standing near him with his legs spread and hand holding the gun behind his back.

Skyla and Zyair remained at a distance but their unwavering eyes remained fixed on him. Doran watched them in return, the fear had crept up in his eyes now.

"I wished that you had suffered for years just like my wife had done at your hands. Lived in fear that when someone walked in from this door and punched you, burnt you and hurt you, just like you had done. But it’s time for you to leave. May you be born a better man in the next life."

Zyair’s words were clear and they echoed ominously for Doran. He fidgeted in his chair a bit. Embracing death was no easy feat.

"Kail, it’s time," Zyair said in a monotone. He and Kail had discussed this before and Kail didn’t want his boss to taint his hands. He was more than happy to put that tainted soul out of its misery.

"Until the next lifetime, Skyla," Doran called out as Zyair covered Skyla’s eyes with his hand. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

She needn’t see this, darkness enveloped her eyes and she tried not to shed a tear.

The gun went off silently and a single wound was left in his temple. The blood oozed out in a splatter painting his body and the ground below in its rich crimson hue.

The Chapter of Doran Blackthorn and the lineage of Blackthorns ended there.
