Chapter 296: Amsilia’s Apology
Irisa and Mithias passed confused looks to each other. Their son was unnaturally calm, considering the kind of information they had provided him.
They had expected him to rage and shout, make hasty decisions and give in. No way he could know they had planned all this with Doran so he would get Skyla while they would get the company.
The door flew open and in walked four police officers carrying handcuffs. The hidden camera and the microphone helped them see and hear everything that was said and discussed.
Irisa and Mithias turned to watch the officers with bewildered eyes, confusion etched on their faces.
Zyair neatly folded his hands and placed them on the wooden surface of his desk. He lifted his confident eyes to the police officers and composedly said.
"Arrest these two, they are involved in the kidnapping of my wife."
Panic gripped them as both scrambled out of their seats and Mithias angrily seethed out.
"What’s the meaning of this? On what grounds?"
"On the grounds of what you said, we heard everything and have ample evidence for arrest," the police officer informed him in a plain tone while indicating for him to raise his arms so he could cuff him.
"Do you know who I am? How dare you try to arrest me? I will sue you..." Mithias went on and on. While Mithias tried to play his authority card as the police officer read him his rights. Irisa tried to use the mommy card.
"Caeco, how could you? Me your mother," she spoke in that overly sweet voice that grated at Zyair’s ears.
He shook his head at her, disappointment so evident on his face.
"You are a gold digger and a whore. Remember a whore will always be a whore, you just proved it." He pointed out, throwing the same sentence on her face as she had done all those years ago before she abandoned him.
She watched him with the same pleading look as he had done but there was no remorse on Zyair’s face, instead, he spoke again addressing the police officers.
"Remove these two from my office."
Mithias turned to him, fuming with so much rage that his face had turned blood-red.
"You will regret this, I will ruin you," he shouted while struggling with the police officer.
Zyair refused to acknowledge him or even waste a breath on them.
With a satisfied smile and an icy glint in his eyes, he watched his biological parents being led away.
They cursed him loudly, throwing him loathing glances as the door shut behind them. One of the police officers remained behind wanting to speak alone.
"Mr Zyair I would like to have a word?"
Zyair finally tore his emotions-filled eyes away from the closed door and nodded.
"Sure, you people got all of it on the record?" He had allotted them a room where they had set up their entire system. When Mithias had arrived, Zyair had given them a heads up and they saw and heard everything live.
"We did. They will be interrogated and we are hoping the truth will be revealed soon. Doran’s location will be found out and we will make our move and retrieve your wife."
"It means you people heard back from your undercover officer. She is not there?" Zyair asked, his heartbeat rising in anticipation.
The police officer took a deep breath and began, this was going to be a long monologue.
"No, he heard some of Goridus’s men talking. They revealed how a deal had been made between Doran and him. They wanted to separate both of you and did the surveillance of your house, collecting information. The company you went to sign a deal with was also a trap to send you away so they could attack your home and kidnap Mrs Zyair. She was to be handed over to Doran so he would keep her hidden forever and see you suffer before they will come for you. We have reasons to believe they will be targeting you next. So we have decided to launch our operation against him a bit earlier. We are hoping to capture him and his gang. The information he carries will be beneficial in revealing Doran’s whereabouts."
Hearing all the details cleared up so many jumbled thoughts in Zyair’s mind. He wasn’t wrong when he believed that the meeting in Marica City was being prolonged on purpose.
The anger made his nostrils flare and his nails dug into the skin of his palm. Once the police have captured Goridus, he will pay Mr Couper a proper visit.
"I had my doubts about that meeting. My gut kept telling me to not go on with it. I should have listened. All these men deserve to be hanged to free the world of their evils."
"This time we will ensure there is no plea deal offered. For Goridus we will be going for the death penalty. Just hang in there Mr Zyair and trust the system. We will get your wife back, please don’t get directly involved and jeopardise the case. We are very close." Zyair did nod at the expectant officer but he had no plans of sitting on the sidelines and obeying the police.
He wished to be the one to capture Doran because the police would let him walk again. He needed to go for them to live their lives peacefully. As long as he was alive, they wouldn’t have mental peace, especially Skyla.
The police officer left after sharing the information with Zyair but he sat pondering, planning his next move and the people he needed to punish.
Two of them he had sent their way, and although his loving heart had pained, this was the right course of action. He didn’t need such parents and they had taught him what kind of parent he shouldn’t become.
Now he needed to share this vital piece of information with his mother. It was strange how Montague was blood-related to him, no wonder he had always felt this bond with the man. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
Going home he found Amsilia was there sitting alongside his mother. Both friends were solemnly talking, grief so visible on their faces and voices strained.
Zyair greeted them and took his seat opposite. Amsilia faced him, he could see her reddened eyes. The older woman was in shambles.
"I came here to apologise on the behalf of my son and all the pain he has caused you. In these moments, I wish I had never birthed him. The pain you people are going through, I feel responsible," she lamented, dabbing a handkerchief to her eyes to soak the tears. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
"Mrs Blackthorn, it’s not your fault. Your son’s actions don’t define you. We don’t blame you for Skyla’s disappearance. Rest assured."
Zyair tried to assuage her fears, he could see the toll Skyla’s kidnapping was having on the woman. She seemed quite fragile and weaker than before.
To add to that, she had lost Madame Maven, which hit her the worst as she had spent the last ten years together with her. They had become best buddies, turning to each other in crisis.
"I just hope she is safe and is found soon," she said between sobs while Meena rubbed her back and softly said.
"Zyair is right, you need to stop blaming yourself."
Amsilia only nodded while stifling a cry. She stayed for a while longer before leaving with a heavy heart and prayers for Skyla’s safety.
Once she was gone, Zyair went ahead and sat by his mother. Leaning on her shoulder to find some peace after the awful day he had.
She lovingly caressed his face and softly asked.
"How are you holding up?"
Zyair restlessly sighed before saying with his eyes closed.
"I have to tell you something but it’s all so messed up."
"I am listening. Go on."
Zyair then narrated everything to his mother. How Mithias was his biological father and the way he was trying to get the company by colluding with Doran.
Meena almost had a heart attack from all this new information but she could definitely see the similarities between Zyair and Mithias. The latter had the same raven hair and always carried himself with ease from his youthful years till now.
She slightly turned to face her son, there was this pained look on her face.
"I can’t even imagine having such horrible biological parents. They don’t deserve you but you are a Kincaid through and through and this empire is rightfully yours. I hope both of them will rot in jail forever. I didn’t know Mithias could fall so low just for money," Meena raged.
She missed her husband in that instant. He would have been so proud to know Zyair was his actual blood.
"I will never forgive anyone who has been involved in my wife’s disappearance and I certainly don’t care for those two. They are dead to me." Meena could see he was determined and brave but she could still sense how broken her son was. It was only his willpower to find Skyla that was keeping him going.
"We will find her soon. She will be safe and sound will be my grandchild. Just a little more strength Zyair and these gloomy days will be over."
Meena provided him with the strength he needed to keep going. He laid his head in her lap and closed his eyes. A tiny tingle of hope crawled in his heart and lulled him to sleep while Meena gently combed his hair with her fingers.
