Chapter 267: Legend Of The Bloodmoon Flower
"I am sorry you had to deal with my mom," Rais apologised as he took Huria home.
"I wouldn’t have said anything if she hadn’t dragged Skyla and Zyair in it. I am very touchy when it concerns my best friend. After everything she has been through, she deserves peace, not name-calling." Huria sighed, her mood had dampened. The night hadn’t gone the way she had wished.
"She doesn’t care for anyone’s feelings other than her family. And she loves to gossip on Sunday brunches with her so-called high society friends. It doesn’t matter to her, who comes under the radar. It’s how she is." Rais had this look of disappointment on his face because of his mother.
Huria detested such women but there was no way around it. She was in love with Rais and had to endure his mother for his sake. Didn’t mean she will put up with her bullshit.
"Rais, I love you and I will always try to be respectful to your mother but I won’t have her disrespecting Skyla and Zyair. I will always defend them, whether she likes it or not," she informed Rais, turning to face him. She wanted him to know where she stood on the matter. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
"Don’t worry, you won’t have to meet her much. I will handle her myself, that’s why I never wanted you to meet her in the first place."
Rais’s body tensed again, knowing he would have to deal with his mother later. She was going to create a fuss over him not telling her about the engagement and would probably try to get involved in their wedding plans.
"I wanted to have her blessing, it seems like I thought too much of mother-in-laws, considering Skyla had two amazing ones." A heavy sigh fell through her lips as she brought her hands down in frustration.
Rais reached out and took her hand in his, bringing it closer to his lips, he placed a loving kiss on its back and suggested.
"I won’t let her hurt you, Huria. Don’t worry, if you want we can just go to the marriage bureau right now and get ourselves registered for marriage."
Huria let out a surprise chuckle. This man was ready to even do that with her.
"As much as I love this idea, I want to wait for Skyla. I can’t do this without her." Huria couldn’t even dream of having her wedding without Skyla.
The car had come to a halt outside Huria’s house but both of them just sat there.
"Whatever you decide, remember I will be onboard." Rais gently squeezed her hand and Huria couldn’t be more thankful for having such an understanding man in her life.

"Where are we going?" Skyla asked, excitedly glancing around from their car window.
"To see a special flower, it blooms only once in twenty years. Locals told me one has bloomed so I thought we should go see it." Zyair told her as he carefully manoeuvred the car on the narrow dirt road. The thick jungle lay on both sides of it with its miscellaneous fauna and flora.
"Wow, a magical flower on a magical island. Can’t we just minus the outside world and live here?" Skyla turned to her husband and expectantly asked, rubbing her hands together.
Zyair chuckled and lovingly patted her head as if she was his pet cat.
"One day when we have taken care of all our duties, we will buy this island and will just shift here."
"Sounds like a plan."
They soon arrived in a clearing and Zyair parked the car there. Taking out a map from the glove compartment, Zyair and Skyla observed the point that had been circled. It seemed about a hundred meters ahead of the clearing they were in.
"Come, we will have to walk for a few minutes, it’s just up ahead it seems."
Both of them got down and Skyla as usual took his arm as they began to move.
The jungle was home to millions of species of plants, animals, birds and insects. The distant hooting of a love bird could be heard in the distance as if calling for his mate. The salty air ruffled the shrubs beside them and the trees above them. The petals rained down as they trudged forward.
"So why does it only bloom once in twenty years?" Skyla curiously asked, her eyes wavering around seeing how beautiful and green the plants here were. Away from the polluted cities, they could thrive in a natural environment.
Zyair began to tell her the myth behind the flower.
"According to the legends a goddess descends from the heavens once every twenty years. She had fallen in love with a mortal but lost him. Sitting under the full moon, she cries and her tears fall on this plant and hence birth the Bloodmoon flower. She cries for her beloved and wishes he would be reborn so they could be together again. Who knows maybe one day her prayers and wishes will come true." (Foreshadowing for my next book, ahm, ahm.)
Skyla pouted with doe eyes hearing such gut-wrenching story as they prowled through the jungle.
"That’s so sad."
Zyair turned his head and reassuringly smiled seeing her upset face and leaned in, kissing her forehead. freewёbnoνel.com
"It’s just a story, not real. Don’t be gloomy."
The part of the jungle had become darker due to thick foliage overhead. The fireflies danced on the flowery bushes here, probably doing their mating dance to attract the female fireflies.
And the both of them saw a bush with thick broad leaves and a single red flower with golden light illuminating it. So magical the flower seemed outwardly with its layers of petals. It resembled a chrysanthemum.
"Wow! Is that it?" Skyla clasped her mouth with her hand seeing the stunning display of the magical flower and the fireflies above it.
"Seems like it." Zyair smiled and guided her forward so they could see it up close. Not touching it they just bent down and watched it with keen eyes and broad smiles.
A few ladybirds and honeybees had also found their way to the Bloodmoon flower, and it seemed like everyone was mesmerised by its beauty.
"Awww! I love it. I think I have got a new idea for my comic. Since my first one is about to end, I will write the story of this flower, the goddess and her mate. I think it will be brilliant. Thank you for showing this to me." Skyla smiled in determination and reached out to just touch the velvety petal. It was the softest thing she had ever touched.
"My pleasure, beautiful," Zyair murmured from beside her. Taking out his phone, he began clicking pictures of her with the flower.
"What if it’s real? The story? What if magic and supernatural actually exist and we mortals are just plain and dumb and can’t see it." Skyla straightened up and faced her husband with curiosity.
"That my girl is one possibility as Lewis Carroll has said and I would like to quote, "Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it." I think if you believe in something from your heart, you tend to find it. Like I did you."
He grabbed her waist pulling her to himself and slowly brushed his lips against hers, beside the magical flower, Zyair gave his wife a magical kiss and she returned it with equal fervour, the magic burnt bright in her eyes, the magic of his love.
