Chapter 244: The Man In The Corner
Murmurs of pure joy and astonishment went around the ladies as Skyla walked in front of them in her stunning wedding gown.
"Skylaaa!!! This dress is a stunner and you look like a Queen. Zyair is not going to be able to take his eyes off of you," Huria hollered in all excitement with her eyes dilated.
Amsilia and Meena had their hands on their mouths, while the former had tears in her eyes the latter was all smiles knowing this girl was beautiful inside and out.
"You look gorgeous my child and this dress fits perfectly," Amsilia sniffled, wiping away her tears.
"I agree with Amsilia, do you want to make any changes?" Meena moved ahead and smoothened out her dress and inspected it from front and back to see if it was bunching in any position.
Skyla stared down at herself with a very satisfied smile, she stretched her arms and took a slight twirl to see how it adjusted with her body. She then delightedly said to Meena.
"Thank you, everyone, I love it. I just want more pearls on the bodice. Can that be done?"
"Of course, I need to adjust the frill as well, we will add the pearls. You needn’t worry." Meena reassured her while checking the bodice. She could see that it fitted perfectly which meant stitching had been on spot.
"We can now buy matching jewellery and shoes. Now that we have seen the dress and can decide what will go with it," Huria suggested.
"Actually, I have some exquisite pieces. Especially pearl ones. If you like then take a look at the jewellery."
Meena had quite the collection of jewellery too.
"I would love that, let me change and then we will go through it." Skyla was thrilled to know that she could have matching jewellery from here.
Skyla walked back to the changing room with Meena’s assistants and carefully took off the dress, handing it back. She changed into her clothes and joined the ladies.
Assortment of boxes with velvet lids and silken insides had been piled up on the marble table along with bubbly champagne and snacks.
Skyla rubbed her hand in excitement seeing so many pearls and jewels. The four ladies sat down and went through the jewellery.
There were simple pearl necklaces along with one pearl earrings and then there were some fancy choices as well. The collection contained fancy hair pins and all kinds of assortment of rings.
After a lot of discussion and everyone’s approval Skyla chose a pearly necklace with two layers of pearls in it. Simple one pearled earrings and several hair accessories. They would look beautiful in her fiery hair and white would contrast perfectly with them.
"I think this is fabulous, I love my dress and the jewellery," Skyla declared with a satisfied smile while taking a small sip of her straw gold champagne. She leaned against the camelback and breathed out, letting her muscles relax.
Nothing felt good to have a perfect venue, stunning dress, exquisite jewellery and loving family and friends. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
"Ah! My child you look exhausted. You should head home and rest, don’t tire yourself out and take a lot of water, skin will remain healthy," Amsilia showered her with her motherly wisdom while Meena and Huria closed all the jewellery boxes.
"I will, we did the venue too. Rais and Lawrence will cater to the food and other arrangements. I just need a wedding band for Zyair now," she informed them and placed her champagne flute back on the table.
"I will suggest Riemc Jewels, they have the best wedding bands and rings," Meena added while handing over the jewellery boxes to her assistant.
"Yes, that’s what I was thinking. Tomorrow I will visit them with Huria and either chose one from their collections or will order the one I have in mind."
"I hope you will find what you are looking for my child. Good luck," Amsilia added with a small smile.
Her heart did tinge at times knowing how much she was wronged in their home and she didn’t want to bring forth the latest events which she knew were caused by her son in jealousy. That boy of hers had brought nothing but shame to her doorstep.
"Thank you! For all the love and the efforts. I am very obliged. We will head out now, see you at home soon." Skyla offered her gratitude to the both ladies.
They embraced each other and soon Huria and Skyla left the boutique. Meena had earlier informed Skyla that she wouldn’t be taking any payment from her when the younger woman had tried to pay for her wedding gown, instead she had gotten her first scolding from her.
"You are like my daughter and mother’s provide for their daughters, they don’t take their money," Meena had said firmly and Skyla knew not to argue with her anymore on this. She graciously accepted what she offered, she would pay her in some other way.
"Should we head home?" Huria asked as she started the car.
"Let’s grab something to eat. I am starving and I want to eat some junk food before I go back on a diet till the wedding. Zyair hates takeaway and just bears it because of me but I don’t want to force him into eating it with me when he can have healthy options."
"Off we go then, junk it is," Huria announced evilly, laughing like Harley Quinn. Skyla couldn’t help but shake her head at her friend.
They parked outside a pizza joint and went in. Sitting down at the booth with two leather seats, girls ordered a pepperoni pizza with extra cheese.
"Might as well make the most of it when I am cheating with my diet," Skyla said while relaxing in the chair and just glanced around.
Her eyes landed in a dark corner of the joint and she found herself staring into the frigidist blue eyes that could ever exist, the man had his face covered with a simple black mask and had a baseball cap on his head but those eyes she could recognise anywhere in the world. She had spent a lifetime looking at them.
A bone chilling shiver scuttled down her spine. The time slowed and stretched as she froze in her place unable to look away from those cold eyes where only darkness resided now. He watched her in return without blinking, his hand drummed the knee of his spread out long legs, his head cocked and Skyla’s throat went dry as a desert.
"Huria!" She finally croaked out and she lifted her head from her cell phone to see why her friend’s voice seemed so troubled. Huria followed her line of sight and found the reason for Skyla’s worries. He was still watching them with dead eyes and cocked head.
"Is that him?" Huria scowled and not in a pleasant way and Skyla hoarsely muttered.
"Yes! We are leaving."
Huria automatically placed her hand on Skyla’s and diverted her attention towards herself.
"If you will leave today, every control you have exerted against him will crumble and you will always live in his shadow. Don’t give him that control, just take a breather, enjoy your pizza and show him you are not afraid like you did at the press conference. I am sure he followed us and just want to scare you. He won’t do a thing in public place so trust me on this."
