Chapter 240: All These New Emotions
The woman greedily occupied Zyair’s embrace, snuggling with him as if she owned him. Skyla walked away towards their car, no matter how she tried to keep a rational mind, it was impossible for her to see. She would wait in the car until the Police arrived.
The tears streamed down her face — nonstop, as she kept wiping them with the back of her hand.
Was this how their life was going to be? People, manipulating them in a way they wouldn’t be able to say no.
Even when she had vowed no one would hurt him anymore, fate always threw a curved ball their way.
’If I am hurting this much, how much must he be hurting?’ She thought and it disturbed her further.
The seconds seemed to stretch into torturous minutes and the minutes into agonising hours for her.
The image of that woman and countless others being naked in his arms swirled in her mind like a reel which played on nonstop mode. She knew it wasn’t his fault or was even in his hands but still, the jealousy dug its claws deep into her mind.
How badly she had fallen in love with him, even the thought of someone else touching him made this uncontrollable anger surge through her and now he held another woman and she couldn’t control her restless heart. It throbbed with so much unbearable pain that she wanted to yank it out and throw it out of the window of her car.
The Police siren finally pulled her out of her afflicted thoughts and opening the door she stepped out of the car into the breezy night.
The two patrol officers exited their car and walked over to her in their black uniforms.
"Miss, were you the one who called us?" One of them inquired in his throaty voice, adjusting his police cap.
"Yes, please hurry up. The woman was trying to commit suicide, my fiancé is holding her right now so she won’t jump off the cliff." Skyla pointed in the direction where Zyair and the woman were. If the two officers had recognised her they didn’t show it.
Hearing her they nodded at each other and hurried along to assess the situation. Skyla stayed behind, letting the cops handle it now.
She nervously paced near her car, her index finger inside her mouth as she chewed on the nail.
Shrieking and shouting could be heard in the distance as both officers brought along the woman, holding her arms. She had been handcuffed. Profanities could be heard spewing from her mouth as she snapped at them and jerked her body trying to fight them off in a vain attempt to escape.
"Stay still, don’t make a scene ma’am, or the situation can turn pretty bad for you." Skyla heard one of the officers warn her.
She turned her head and found Skyla standing by watching her with calculated eyes.
"You, bitch. You are the one who snatched him away, I hope you rot in hell like my abusive husband. You people ripped my life apart. Skanky, piece of shit," she continued to spurt nonsense while deathly glaring at Skyla.
Skyla just watched her with pitiful eyes, the years of abuse had turned her into a mad raging lady and it wasn’t even over for her. While Skyla was liberated, that woman wasn’t and countless others like her were stuck in such abusive marriages with no escape.
It stuck her in that instant, she knew what she needed to do to help such women.
The patrol officers stuffed her in the back of their car and took her away, the last of what Skyla saw was her pained face, pressed into the cold glass of their car. Her eyes vacant, face bruised and her arms shackled behind, making Skyla wonder if she would even survive.
Tears spilt out of her minty eyes as she felt strong arms wrapping themselves around her waist and pulling her into his warmth.
"I am sorry," he whispered, the pain so visible in his voice.
How could she blame him? And yet her jealousy was there, making the guilt lodge like a lump in her throat.
"Wasn’t your fault, let’s go home." Skyla left his embrace and shifted towards the driving seat.
He could sense the sting in her voice and the way she avoided meeting his gaze. She didn’t even let him hold her. It told him she was hurting and was probably mad at him.
Was this how their life was going to be from now on? People coming in like train wrecks and leaving them damaged and in shambles. It had taken them such a long time to get it slightly back on track. And yet it seemed in ruins again.
Zyair’s own body seemed to be crawling with disgust. He couldn’t help it anymore, the forceful touching was something which made him extremely uncomfortable.
Getting in the car he glanced at her but she was focused on driving. Skyla drove fast, she wanted to get home.
The delightful night had turned into a nightmare. But she had to prepare herself for more of such encounters.
What was she thinking that it would be all sunshine after the press conference? The dooming effects were just starting. She had already received some threats on the phone but this was a first encounter and Skyla knew more of such would come their way.
She was shaken because she hadn’t expected it today. Next time she would be more prepared and deal with it in a more dignified way. For now, she needed to heal and let her mind adjust to what she had witnessed.
Zyair on the other hand, just wanted to hold her and assure her that no one else mattered to him. He did what needed to be done to save a life. Still the look in Skyla’s eyes when he had held that woman and now the silence was slaying him.
For the moment he was speechless, no right words came to his mind. Anything he would say, might as well hurt her more. She had already accepted him irrespective of all his flaws. He had a past which no one wants in a life partner and it wouldn’t leave him alone, leave them alone.
It wasn’t him that was getting affected by it, it was her too.
Her sweet voice pulled him out of his jumbled train of thought.
"We are here, come." She was standing there quietly holding his door open. He hadn’t even realised when they had pulled inside their driveway when the car had stopped and she had exited it to open his door as well.
"Sorry," he mumbled while lowering his head to step out. Zyair closed the door behind him with a thud and faced her. He could sense sadness and hurt radiating off his girl, she was trying not to cry. freewebnovel.cσ๓
