Chapter 230: Irisa
Their journey that evening towards Meena Mansion was quiet. Skyla could sense he was still pissed off at her although he had dropped the topic. But there was this tension between them. He was being too quiet again and the anger in his eyes hadn’t subsided.
The media frenzy had died down quite considerably since Skyla had threatened them with legal action. But she knew many of the people she had exposed would be coming for them. Plus countless women from Mirage who were on the lookout for him, now knew where to find him
Deep down Zyair was extremely proud of how she had carried out the Press Conference. How she had given a shut up call to some of the biggest media names.
When he was about to begin his business deal with Rais earlier, he wanted Skyla to be present but when he called her, she didn’t pick up which was not very like her.
Rais seemed reluctant to involve Skyla which made Zyair even more suspicious that something was wrong. He went looking for her and discovered she was holding a press conference, alone.
He watched her with mixed feelings on the screen backstage with a very apologetic Huria and Mawar. But when she played that video, Zyair lost it. He knew the repercussions of it won’t be pretty and more than himself he worried about her.
"I want everyone involved to report to my office after I talk to her. Did none of you deem it important to inform me about this?" He sternly scolded Mawar with his fists clenched.
"Yes, Sir! Skyla asked us to keep it under wraps," Mawar answered in a small voice, keeping her eyes lowered, knowing they were in big trouble. freёwebnoѵel.com
"We apologise but it was her decision, she cares deeply for you." Huria answered slightly embarrassed that he had to find it this way as Rais wrapped his arms around her in an assuring way.
Zyair had later reprimanded everyone involved including Lawrence, Mawar, Eris. Huria and Rais and his mood was still sour.
The night has spread its dark inkiness when they reached Meena Mansion. Kail as usual did a whole surveillance ensuring no one was lurking in the shadows.
They stepped outside their car and made their way inside. Skyla slipped her hand in his warm one and she gently squeezed it. She would do anything to make up to him. frёewebηovel.cѳm
"I am still mad at you," he told her quietly, not looking at her but staring straight. She smiled her cute smile, not giving up.
But Zyair’s steps halted as if the ground had shackled him. His eyes had blown wide from what he had seen in front of him.
Zyair’s grip tightened so profusely around Skyla’s hand that she had to jerk her head and glance in the direction he was gaping in.
A stunning woman in her early fifties but with a body of a seductive goddess stood there. Her raven shaded hair were same as the man who was clutching Skyla’s hand as if he would crumple to the ground if she wasn’t holding it.
Looking at her Skyla needn’t be a detective to figure out who she was. For they shared so many facial features. She was extremely tall just like Zyair was and irrespective of her age she seemed to be in her late thirties. The plum peplum dress she had adorned highlighted her voluptuous body.
But it was the smile she held. A wry smile which brightened her almond shaped eyes. Skyla had never seen such a stunning woman before. She screamed seduction and then her red painted lips curled and she spoke with a thick accent, holding a small purse in her hand. Her posture oozed confidence.
"Caeco, me boy." Every muscle in Zyair’s body stiffened at her words, making him extremely uncomfortable. This couldn’t be happening, not now when he was already dealing with so much shit. He didn’t need her now, she was never there when he did. His life was all messed up because of this one woman.
Why was she here now?
The woman tried to take a step towards him and Skyla was quick to plant herself between him and the woman.
"Don’t come any closer. Who are you?" It was Skyla who questioned the woman, giving her a wary look, making her stop in her advances but that smile remained plastered on her face.
"Irisa, me his mother, been searching for him." She pointed to Zyair, flashing a smile which revealed her extremely white teeth to them.
Zyair’s heart fell into an ocean of despair at her words. Tears brimmed in his eyes. This was probably the first time she had acknowledged him as her son and at a time when he wanted to have nothing to do with her.
Why couldn’t see love him before when he needed her when he begged her?
"He only has one mother and that’s me. I let you in because I didn’t want to make a scene with the likes of you and you said you had something important to tell my son. I recommend you say it and get the hell out of my home."
It was Meena who had confidently walked up to them and now stood beside Zyair. She didn’t touch him but her presence and words were enough assurance.
Every motherly instinct in Meena’s body had become alive seeing this woman who had done nothing but wronged her son.
A crafty chuckle fell through Irisa’s lips as she eyed both the women surrounding her son before turning her attention to Zyair.
"Caeco, tell them. Me wants to talk to you alone. Why not remove the ugly mask and let your mama see your handsome face."
"Huh! Tell us what exactly? That you pimped your own son out and left him to fend for himself when he needed you the most. We already know."
Skyla spat out in disgust, wiping that smug smile off Irisa’s face. The woman glared at Skyla as if she was nothing but eye sore. Even Meena was slightly shaken by this news.
Zyair’s shocked eyes flickered to the girl standing in front of him so boldly. When did she become so strong to defend him against the whole world, not caring in the slightest about the consequences anymore. She stood like a Queen of chess defending her King against any threat that was hurled his way, fulfilling all of her promises. They were not empty words.
"Is that what you told them? Caeco?" Irisa ignored Skyla and addressed Zyair yet again. He was still to answer her and it was bugging her.
"Zyair, go inside. Skyla take him along with you. I will deal with her now as she can’t seem to take the hint that he doesn’t want to talk to her nor does she have anything substantial to tell us?"
Meena nodded towards Skyla and she was more than happy to oblige. As she was about to take Zyair along he finally spoke up, eyeing Irisa with mixed emotions.
"I would like to hear what she has to say but right here, right now with my mother and my fiancée beside me. Let’s sit and talk."
