Chapter 229: He Rages

As the murmurs finally died down she answered the last part of his question.

"And to answer how we are engaged? I don’t think that’s any of anyone’s concern. So I hope all of you can show some respect to our privacy moving forward and make good use of your time instead of meddling in our private affairs. Those who will continue to do so like my ex-husband will face dire consequences. You come for the people I love, I won’t spare you this time."

She concluded with an air of pride, it took everything she had to finally stand up to all these people especially Doran but she did it. Although the fear still gripped her every limb and her heart hadn’t stopped pounding, she still kept that smile going.

"Miss Skyla, you think it’s your ex-husband behind the leaking of that photo?" Another journalist asked.

"I don’t think I am certain of it because he has most to gain from it and he even threatened me using a disappearing message app. Sadly, I couldn’t save that message and we have been unable to trace it so far," Skyla blatantly told them and more murmurs followed but she was done answering them.

Press Conference was concluded, with all the media outlets who had printed his picture and released the video of their home facing legal action as Skyla had announced.

Skyla got up and headed backstage, leaving the people stunned in their seats. Her amazing team was waiting for her, the people who mattered the most in her life.

But she paused in her rapid steps when she saw him standing in front of everyone else with bewildered eyes, there was a hint of annoyance as well while his hands were deeply thrust in his pants pockets. He impatiently tapped his right foot on the marble floor. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

She instantly knew she was in trouble. Huria and Rais were peeking from behind him, giving her thumbs ups, Lawrence and Eris were missing as they had gone to deal with the journalists and see them out so they won’t stir any more trouble. Mawar had an apologetic look and wasn’t sure where to look.

Zyair tilted his head, seeing her approach, his bluish orbs were swirling cyclones of anger now as he firmly ordered.

"In my office, now." He turned and began to lead the way towards the elevator.

Skyla knew better than to argue with him there. Rais and Huria offered her sheepish looks, as Rais mumbled a "sorry". He was unable to hold Zyair for a long time.

"It’s ok, I will talk to him. Thank you." Skyla nodded at Rais and quickly followed Zyair who was waiting for her, holding the door open of the elevator.

Once she got in with him he hit the top button and the elevator began to move. freeweɓnøvel.com

He grabbed her wrist and pulled, Skyla flailed and collided with his chest, getting her breath to be knocked out.

"What were you thinking?" His voice was so cold, lacking the warmth he always possessed. It chilled her spine. She hesitated for a few seconds before gaining enough courage to lift her head and stare into his deeply concerned eyes.

She lifted her hand and placed it on his face, letting her warmth seep into him so he could relax that agitated heart of his and hoped his anger would subside.

"I told you, I won’t stand by and watch anyone hurt you anymore. I did what I had to."

Her words fuelled his anger some more instead of pacifying it. Zyair closed his eyes in frustration, he didn’t wish to snap at her. Breathing out heavily he opened them again and frantically stared at her.

"We were supposed to do it together when I was to be ready. Do you have any idea what you have done? That compiled video of people who had violated me. Some of them are very renowned figures. I would have dealt with them by now like I had done with others but there is a reason, I didn’t. Revealing their faces, they will come for us, for you."

"Let them, I don’t care. I would rather die trying than do noth...." His hand tightly clasped her mouth shut. Fury simmered in the depths of his azure eyes, quickly turning to rage.

"Don’t you dare talk about dying. You hear me," he sternly instructed, his voice bordering on madness. His brows had hitched together as his nostrils had flared in dissatisfaction her words had brought him.

She had never seen him so angry at her but she had anticipated this reaction from him. When it came down to her and her safety he wouldn’t even spare her. Skyla nodded, knowing too well not to instigate him any further.

The elevator dinged and the door opened. He pulled her alongside him and into his office. She quietly followed, peeking at him sideways, hoping he would cool down a notch but he didn’t.

He made her sit on his executive chair and then towered over her with his muscled arms clutching both armrests of the chair. His face a breath away from her.

"I so want to bend you over my desk and punish you for what you did, Sky. When did we go from a team to taking individual decisions? Keeping me in dark, while you went out there and faced the whole world alone and put a target on your back. Just for me." The pain in his heart intensified at the mere thought of someone hurting her and it reflected in his voice and eyes.

She pursed her lips and then let out a huff.

"You can punish me all you want, Zyair. I will take it knowing you will never hurt me. And we will always be us, but this was my time to show the world that they had messed with a wrong woman. I am not that scared, crying Skyla anymore. They needed to know I can stand my ground and show them what it’s like to have the fury of a scorned woman. And I am not done, Zyair. There won’t be any rest for me until I bring everyone to justice, everyone who has wronged us." Skyla extended her hands and removed his mask, revealing his extremely annoyed face to her as she continued to speak.

"So punish me all you want, I am not going to back down for this is my decision and I am sticking to it."

Zyair knew it was a losing battle to change her mind, she was stubborn and this was stuck in her brain now. He placed his forehead on hers and breathed out in frustration, his hands coiling in her soft locks.

"I won’t survive, if anything will happen to you. This world is cruel and that life I left behind is crueler. You are so innocent and pure, I don’t want you to be tainted by the darkness. That part of me is dark." The desperation in his voice hurt her heart.

"You can’t taint me Zyair, you are my protector, my one winged angel. Just have faith in your girl. Together we can do this."

She claimed his lips after this in a sensual slow kiss, making him forget his anger and let their worries be subside for a few minutes. They wanted to be lost in each other for a while now.
