Chapter 210: Sold To Lady In Red
(Three Months Later)
"You are beautiful," Zyair couldn’t stop staring at her as she whirled around to show him the new gown he had designed and she had adorned.
"Thank you, I feel like a real princess in this." Skyla’s heart thumped in exhilaration. She loved the shimmering champagne shaded off-the-shoulder gown. Zyair stepped closer and wrapped her in his big burly arms.
"You are not a princess anymore, you are my Queen and I am going to introduce you to the world today so everyone can finally know that you are mine now."
A hearty blush appeared on her healthy cheeks, listening to his words while his deep gaze remained fixed on her fluttering eyelashes. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
They were attending a charity auction today to raise funds for the homeless. The hosts were well-renowned celebrities of the Angel City. They had requested his presence, knowing the money collected would triple if he was to donate something of his for the auction.
Zyair had agreed to put up one of his used masks for charity. Although the idea disgusted him and he had it framed to make it look less creepy, the hosts and other people thought it would be one of the highest bidding items.
"That, I am," she chuckled and leaned into his touch.
"Are you nervous?" He asked, tracing his lips on the rims of her right ear, making her skin tingle and goosebumps to erupt.
"A tad, yes. But you are with me so I have nothing to fear about." She bit back a slow whimper.
"I will deal with anyone who will dare say something wrong. Don’t worry." Zyair rocked her lightly in his arms, pressed a love filled kiss on her temple before letting go. It was time to head out.
Zyair was elegantly dressed in a white tuxedo with a bow tie that matched Skyla’s gown and white loafers. As usual, he looked dandy with his hair neatly gelled back as if he was attending a ball in one of those rom coms.
They headed out with Kail in Zyair’s car. Reaching the hall where the event was being held the car halted. Kail opened the doors for them and they exited the car.
Press, reporters and media were quick to gather around. The security detail tried to keep them at bay but the swarmed around the couple.
Skyla had been photographed multiple times while exiting their apartment in the past three months. It was no longer a secret they were living together and people were making all kinds of assumptions. This was the first occasion when both of them were attending an event together.
Kail kept everyone at a distance from the couple as they hurled question after question at the couple.
"Are you guys living together?"
"Mr Zyair, what about your gynophobia?"
"Are you two in a relationship?"
They shouted at them, extending their mics and yet the couple refrained from answering anyone. It was not anyone’s business.
"Stay close to me," Zyair murmured to Skyla and she could sense the tenseness in his voice. She nodded with widened eyes. It was a bit overwhelming to see so many people simultaneously shouting at her.
They safely made it inside and were welcomed by their hosts.
Cedric Dawson and Lilsia Dawson; a powerful couple and renowned actors. Cedric loved Kincaid International’s designs and was one of their top customers. Zyair couldn’t say no to his invitation.
"Zyair!!! Welcome, welcome, my friend. It’s an honour to have you here."
Cedric greeted him with a boisterous chuckle and stopped short of Zyair. Not invading his personal space. His electric blue three piece suit perfectly accentuated his lean body. His clever brown eyes wavered to Skyla for a few seconds as he observed her standing close to Zyair.
"Thank you for having us," Zyair answered with a swift nod.
"Thank you for inviting us to the event," Skyla had a pleasant smile on her face as well as she thanked Cedric.
"Well we never thought we would be seeing him attend an event with a lady. It’s definitely a first," Cedric infused a chuckle in his words so as not to come off as sarcastic.
"I am Mr Zyair’s personal secretary," Skyla introduced herself, not sure if Zyair would be comfortable by revealing their relationship.
"Skyla is my girlfriend and my personal secretary," Zyair calmly cut in, leaving Cedric’s mouth slightly ajar and eyes doubling in size from the shock. Skyla’s cheeks heated up to the way he had owned her in front of his associate.
"That’s interesting news. No doubt the media was going wild. Welcome Miss Skyla, please make yourself comfortable." Cedric guided them to their respective seats but inside he was itching with the need to tell his wife about it.
The light piano music and white lights added to the ambience of the event. The uniformed waiters were going around with bubbly champagne and trays of entrées.
They settled down around the round glass table with only two seats. Skyla fervently glanced at him as he sat in stoic calmness and then looked down, clutching her dress. His words still ringing in her ears and she wondered how people were going to take the news. It wasn’t a secret anymore and she wanted to prepare herself for the backlash that was going to follow.
"Are you alright?" Zyair asked, his voice soft tones of affection. He could see her nervously fidgeting with her dress.
"It’s the first time you addressed me as your girlfriend in public. Just trying to wrap my head around the idea and thinking how people are going to react to it."
"I don’t care what anyone thinks or says. You are my woman, Skyla and everyone will know and see it soon," he informed her with a resounding finality that held promises of him always standing by her side and shielding her from this evil world.
She flipped her hair back and offered him a dazzling smile and he winked back at her, resisting the urge to kiss her.
The grand hall filled up with rich people from all walks of life. From wealthy collectors, to art enthusiasts and celebrities.
The event soon began with an announcement of how it was an effort to build homeless shelters for the poor.
A lot of eyes were on Zyair and Skyla. Some malicious, some in awe and some surprised. Few people approached them and the couple greeted everyone with respect.
The auction finally started. Some celebrities had donated their clothes, shoes, paintings, signed books, jewellery and other stuff.
The stage was set, the lights dimmed and a single spot light was focused on the special table with a red velvet cushion. The items to be auctioned were placed on it.
Items were sold off one by one with the auctioneer’s booming voice announcing and thanking everyone.
Finally, Zyair’s mask was brought up on the stage for the auction and the crowd held their breaths. A hushed silence washed over the entire hall as the auctioneer started to speak while adjusting his glasses from their rim.
"Next we have a personal black mask belonging to none other than the enigmatic heart throb of Angel City, Mr Zyair Kincaid."
The hall burst out in thunderous applause, a few whistles followed too. Zyair sat stoically while Skyla was all smiles, her heart fluttering the way her man was so well received. Taking advantage of the darkened hall, Skyla slipped her hand in his and he squeezed it gently.
"Let the bidding begin at $5000," the auctioneer’s voice rang out and the crowd held their breaths in clear anticipation.
Several bidding pedals were raised as Skyla swerved her head to see who was auctioning.
"Let’s raise it to $10,000."
Again several pedals went up and the tug of war for Zyair’s mask continued. Skyla could see most of the bidders were women, a few were men too who seemed like serial collectors.
"$40,000!" A famous and stunning model announced from their side table with a very haughty expression. Her cunning eyes were focused on Zyair and Skyla. Bouts of jealousy gripped Skyla.
"Do I hear $50,000?" Auctioneer excitedly asked but was met with silence. It seemed like she would win and her dubious grin widened while her eyes remained focused on Skyla.
"Going to the lady in the front row for $40,000.

"$50,000!!!" Skyla’s clear voice sent everyone into a stunned silence. She kept her non-blinking eyes hooked on the haughty model and a knowing smile remained plastered on her crimson shaded lips, her shoulders shrugged.
Zyair side eyed her in astonishment. She had never said she would be betting. A sly smile he could see on her beautiful face. frёewebnoѵēl.com
No one dared speak as the model whose smile had been snatched by Skyla watched her with a death stare.
"3, 2, 1... sold to the lady in the red dress for $50,000. Congratulations." The booming voice stunned everyone in the hall and all eyes focused on the stunning woman with hibiscus shaded tresses. She was beaming with pride.
