Chapter 142: Signing The Divorce Papers

Meena had no clue her son had been silently suffering and pining over Skyla for so long.

She gently placed her hand on his arm and said.

"A little more patience, Zyair. It will give her time to heal and decide what she wants to do. And if she is meant to be yours, she will be. Nothing and no one can stop that. Just like Montague and me."

He sighed frustratedly, his heart ached in the worst possible ways as his hands slid slightly up and down his face. Even though his heart didn’t agree with what others kept telling him, he knew this was the right course of action.

"Ok, mom. I will try," he replied with finality but his voice reflected the pain he was experiencing.

Meena’s heart throbbed seeing her son like that. She asked.

"You haven been in love for so long?"

Zyair straightened his back and placed his hands on his thighs before turning to face her. He thought long before answering.

"I don’t know if I can give a specific title or name to whatever I feel for her. But it transcends simply love and attraction. There is so much more."

"You will figure it out. These feelings will keep growing until it will be nothing but magic. You will feel it in your bones." She smiled fittingly, dispensing her knowledge on the matter.

She had been there where her son was now, carrying an unlimited amount of love in her heart for the man of her dreams.

"It indeed will be magical, I am sure of that." Zyair visibly relaxed at his mother’s comforting words and appreciatively nodded at her.

"Good, you must be hungry. I will bring you some dinner now." Meena finally got up and left for the kitchen.

The divorce agreement was finalised and Sylvia personally brought it to Skyla after two days.

Skyla read it and apart from the clause which said she demanded 10 million dollars as compensation for physically and mentally abusing her, she agreed with the rest.

"Can’t we cut this out? I don’t want him to think I want his money," Skyla asked with a furrowed forehead.

"Did he give you the profit share from your father’s company in all these years? Did he give you money to spend on yourself while you were married to him?" Sylvia inquired, pushing down her glasses and raising a brow.

"No." Skyla shook her head, "He never gave me a dime."

"Then it stays, no need to go lenient on him. If he signs it he will be let off easy otherwise it will be a mess. I am going to send this to his office address with my phone number. So if he needs to contact someone, it will be me. All you need to do is sign them."

Sylvia informed her accepting the tea Huria had just brought for her.

"Alright." Skyla heavily breathed out, picking up the pen with her shaking hand.

No matter how strong she tried to stay this affected her. She had given her youth, nine precious years of her life to make this work. In hopes he would accept her one day.

There was a time when he used to smile at her and her heart would flutter.

All had gone to dust now but her heart still panged with the lost time. It will never return.

She closed her eyes for a second, trying to steady her heart and breathing, trying to keep away the watery haze from clouding her eyesight.

She needed to do this, she had to do this.

A single tear rolled down her cheek as Skyla signed the papers severing the bond she held with the man and closed the file with a small thud.

Huria sat down beside her and held her in her comforting arms, showing her she was there with her. Sylvia curtly nodded before saying.

"It will be done, remember to not make any contact with him. If he tries to come here, inform the police and call me."

"I will do that," Skyla answered with heaviness settling in her heart. The beats were growing louder and louder as if announcing some impending doom.

"One last thing. I hope you are keeping your distance from Mr Zyair. You mustn’t meet any men during this period. One wrong move and damage will be severe." Sylvia delicately took a small sip of the tea.

Skyla nodded her head in understanding but her insides ached, she missed him, immensely.

Sylvia left soon after discussing all the aspects of the divorce agreement but Skyla’s heart wouldn’t calm down. She was shivering uncontrollably, the cold sweat broke out on her forehead and temples as her hands and feet went extremely numb.

Doran’s words came back to haunt her. He had said he would never let her go and would hurt her severely.

Nothing Huria said would calm her turbulent heart.

"Sky! He won’t come here or hurt you. I won’t let him near you," Huria kept reassuring her while worriedly rubbing her back and arms but it was of no use.

"I am so scared, Huria." She clutched her one-winged angel pendant trying to find any solace but her panic attack blew out of proportion.

"Tell me what I should do," Huria was trying to stay in control of the situation which was escalating by the time.

She was cursing that damn man who had broken her friend to this point.

"Zyair—I want to talk to Zyair," Skyla finally choked out, clutching Huria’s arm. Her beautiful face was contorted in extreme anguish. Tears like pearls kept popping out of her saddened eyes. Huria shook her head.

"Sky! It’s not a good idea," she began to say but Skyla cut her off.

"I don’t ask for anything from anyone. Right now I am begging you, I want to talk to him. Please, I can’t breathe."

Huria’s resolve broke seeing her friend in such a delicate frame of mind. She would be damned if she would deny her what she desired. She wiped Skyla’s tears as she fell on Huria’s chest and held on tightly.

"I will call Mr Zyair from my cellphone and you can talk to him. Don’t cry." Huria grabbed her phone with a burdened heart and dialled Zyair’s number. ƒreewebɳovel.com

He picked up instantly as if he was expecting the call.

"How is she?" His concerned voice filtered through. Sylvia had informed him about the divorce papers.

"Uhh! She is not doing well since she signed the papers. I think she is having a panic attack. She requested to talk to you." Huria’s words made Zyair deeply frown and pinch the bridge of his nose. When Sylvia had called him earlier telling him she was taking the divorce papers to Skyla he had feared such a reaction from her.

"Let me talk to her."

Huria handed the phone to Skyla, she was still shaking and almost dropped the phone. So Huria held it steady with her.

"Sky! Listen to my voice and slowly breathe out. Stay with me, nothing is going to happen

" Zyair guided her as her ragged breathing disturbed his heart.

His comforting voice broke every ounce of resolve she had gathered to not request what her lawyer had said. Right now she didn’t care, she just wanted to be in his arms. They were heaven, her heaven

"I—I want to see you, please." She begged him.

"I am coming, wait for me," he lovingly whispered back before ending the call.
