Chapter 137: Surprise For Skyla
The next morning Skyla woke up in bed. The headache was gone and unexpectedly she had slept peacefully.
She didn’t have any clothes so she decided to call Huria, fill her in and borrow some from her.
Huria picked up on the fourth bell. It was Sunday and she was still sleeping.
"Hello!" She answered sleepily.
"Hey! Sorry I disturbed you so early in the morning. But it was urgent." Skyla was apologetic.
"Sky? Is everything alright? You don’t have to apologise. What is it?" Huria was suddenly fully awake now.
"Umm, I left my house after a fight with Doran. I have been over at Mr Zyair’s place since last night."
"Holy Heavens, Sky. Are you alright? Did he hurt you again?" Huria jumped out of her bed, too outrageous.
"Just emotionally. He tore Cuddles and broke my pin." She felt miserable again, the reminder of her beloved pin panged at her heart in the worst possible ways.
"WHAT? Not Mr. Cuddles, I loved that teddy bear. I don’t think even hell is a befitting place for that fiend. There has to be a special place for him," Huria all but snarled, clenching her fists.
"It’s the last time, Huria. I am filing for divorce and Mr Zyair will help me," Skyla informed her friend and felt this relief engulfing her. It felt good to finally say it out aloud to people closer to her.
"Skyyy, I am so proud of you for finally making this decision. I have been saying this for years, making prayers and finally, that day is here. I will support you and see you get this over with at every step." Huria was bouncing up and down like a rubber ball, too excited.
"Thanks! Girl. Can you come over to his apartment with all the evidence we have been compiling and bring me some clothes, I am literally wearing his right now," Skyla told her while staring at his oversized shirt.
"That must be a sight. I am on my way in 20 minutes, send me the location. Love you." Huria was already rampaging through her cupboard, getting clothes for her friend.
"I am sending the location. Love you too, see you soon." Skyla cut the call and sent the location to Huria.
She then left the guest room to see what Zyair was up to. She had heard faint houses coming from the kitchen and could guess he must be preparing breakfast.
Skyla stepped out and made her way to the kitchen where Zyair was dicing green onions and tomatoes for the cheese omelet.
The dampness in his hair and the scent coating him told her he had come straight out of the shower.
"Good morning!" She greeted him in her sonorous voice. Zyair turned to face her and light highlighted his misty oceanic eyes. She could tell he was smiling down under.
"Good morning! Lovely, did you sleep well?" He inquired in that deep rumbling voice of his which never ceased to affect her.
"Yes! Huria is coming over with everything we require." She watched him expertly dice the green onions into perfect slices.
"Brilliant, once we have all the evidence we will head out and meet the lawyer." Zyair picked up the napkin from nearby and wiped his skillfully tapered hands.
"I have a surprise for you before we have breakfast," he told her and moved away toward the living room only to return soon with Cuddles resting so lovingly in his perfectly corded arms.
"Here, I fixed him." Zyair carefully extended the white teddy bear towards Skyla. She was standing there stunned, those minty eyes enlarged to twice their size in shock and surprise.
When he had said earlier that he would fix it, she had believed he was only trying to pacify her but as usual, he had kept his word.
Skyla accepted with gratitude-filled eyes that swam with happy tears.
"Thank you! You are the best boss," she choked out as she accepted the bear he had fixed. Although the tear was there like a scar, the same ones as she had. Zyair had used some kind of glue to patch it up.
"It’s like us now, scarred but fixed. Like how we are fixing each other," he spoke softly but deeply. The meaning behind his words was so insightful. Meant only for them.
She hugged it tightly to her chest and buried her face in its soft fur. freewёbnoνel.com
"Yes, he is like you and me. Broken but not quite," she whispered and Zyair patted her head with his warm hand. His heart clenched and yet it was happy too.
She was crying but tears of joy to be reunited with her teddy bear.
"Don’t cry too much. Let’s eat, I will finish making breakfast."
As usual, both of them ate together, sitting side by side, elated and comfortable in each other’s presence.
Skyla kept Cuddles in her lap, not wanting to part with it. She had already lost her pin, she wasn’t going to lose her teddy bear.
Zyair made some relaxing tea for her. This was going to be a very difficult day for both of them. All that evidence Huria was bringing, he was already on the edge thinking about it.
"Thank you!" She accepted the tea with gratitude and took small sips.
The doorbell finally rang announcing the arrival of Huria. Zyair went to answer it and returned with the excited woman. He was carrying the bag she had brought for Skyla like a gentleman, not letting her carry it.
"Skyyyy! My girl." She ran over to her friend in excitement and embraced her in a tight hug. Skyla hugged her back, holding herself together so she wouldn’t cry.
"I am here now and everything will be alright." Huria took a step back and held Skyla’s shoulders in a reassuring sense.
"I know, thank you for coming so quickly. I love you for that." Skyla smiled a little, her heart eased a bit more to see Huria.
Both of them settled down.
"Look Mr Zyair fixed Cuddles for me." A jubilant Skyla showed her teddy to Huria.
"Awww, this is adores. Mr Zyair is just the best," Huria cheerfully announced, patting the teddy.
"Sky, why don’t you check all the clothes I brought for you and some other stuff in your room? I will talk to Mr Zyair."
Huria asked her friend and Skyla understood she wanted to talk to him alone.
"Of course!" She took her teddy bear and went to the room where Zyair had kept the bag, closing the door behind her.
Zyair brought tea for Huria too and asked if she would like breakfast.
"No, thank you Mr Zyair, I ate before coming. It was very kind of you to help Skyla." She gave him an appreciative smile while accepting the tea.
"I will always protect her," he firmly answered before stylishly perching himself on the sofa and placing his arm on the armrest. Huria swiped up on her tablet to bring it to life.
"What I am about to show you is quite disturbing. I hope you are ready. Don’t spill out the contents of your breakfast," Huria gritted out.
Zyair’s heart sank deeper and deeper as his hands clenched tightly at her words. This was going to take all his restraint to not lose his mind.
The pictures of Skyla came on the screen and Huria handed the tablet to Zyair with shaky hands he accepted and his disturbed eyes flitted towards the screen.
