Chapter 136: Cure For Headache

His words made her smile and Skyla threw a tentative look at herself and said.

"I like them too."

"It’s settled then, beside you are going to live with me from now on. So you will be wearing these at home."

He threw in so casually as if it was not a big deal that she had run away from her abusive husband, from her home of nine years and everything that she had known.

She stared down at her hidden hands, only her fingers were poking out.

"I understand what you mean but living like this will raise so many questions and fingers. His toxic fans will come for me and I don’t want you to be affected by that. So it will be better if I live with Huria until the divorce is settled and then see from there."

She knew once the news got out the media and paparazzi would follow her and seeing her living with her boss would lead to disaster.

"I don’t want you to leave." Deep hurt crept up in his voice.

"I will not leave you. It’s just precautionary." The words were out of her mouth before she knew it. The disappointment she had felt from him prompted her to say it. He sighed heavily, trying to drink in his disappointment. frёewebηovel.cѳm

"Not tonight, though."

"Not tonight," she softly affirmed, easing his fears and dispensing them.

He quietly took her slim hand in his broad one and intertwined his fingers with hers. The gesture, so sweet and yet so meaningful for Skyla. It meant someone had her back at all times, someone who cared deeply.

Zyair began to speak.

"What I wanted to talk about was, I have contacted my family lawyer and have asked him to refer me to the best divorce lawyer in Angel City. He has sent me the details and contact. Tomorrow we will visit her and discuss everything in detail."

He paused, throwing a tentative glance at her to observe her reaction and to check if she was comfortable.

The truths of the moment were hitting her now. She was going to be free of all that abuse, all the degradation, the fear.

His grip on her hand drew slightly taut, making her speak out in a firm voice.

"I would like that."

"I will be with you every step of the way. You are not alone. You will never be alone so remain at ease." His words evicted any doubts that still lingered and she knew she was making the right decision.

Zyair paused and brought her conjoined hand closer to his face. The next words were going to be difficult for her.

"Now what we need is evidence, as much evidence against him as possible. I know this is not going to be easy but do you have any pictures from when he hit you?" Zyair tried to keep his voice from falling apart but it did. Skyla shuffled uncomfortably but she kept her emotions at bay, she needed to be strong for this.

"Yes, I have been collecting evidence for years and keeping it safe with Huria. She has a lot of pictures, including of the last incident. I will talk to her tonight and inform her of my decision."

Skyla plainly informed Zyair, keeping a steady voice.

"That will give us leverage and we can prepare a very compelling divorce agreement. Now there will be tough questions she will ask, you will have to be strong."

"I will be but Doran will never sign it. You don’t know him like I do Zyair. He has told me countless times that he will never let me go, never divorce me or set me free. He is obsessed." Skyla pinched the bridge of her nose, a headache was creeping in.

"Then we will drag his ass to the court and get a restraining order. I don’t want him anywhere near you," Zyair possessively declared.

"This will get ugly, media will tear me apart," Skyla wheezed, her free hand caught her head and she closed her eyes. The emotional mountain that had been dropped on her was burying her under it.

Zyair was closely watching her, his concerned-filled eyes remained focused on her. ƒгeewebnovёl.com

"Let them say what they want, once the story of his abusive behaviour gets out he will lose half of his fans."

"People always forget the abuse when it comes from a pretty face. His fans worship him and I have experienced its flake over the years. The taunts that I don’t deserve him, killed me inside."

Her head hurt, her heart hurt too.

"Sky! Lay down in my lap," he softly asked, still holding her hand. Her gaze dashed to him and his eyes held kindness.

She hesitated.

"It will make you feel better, I promise," his voice held such assurance that she couldn’t say no.

Quietly she placed her head in his lap and serenely sighed in the relief it brought.

She could sense the thick ridges of his thigh underneath her head. His free hand landed on her forehead and he began to gently massage it. He knew from her actions that her head was hurting, she didn’t have to tell him.

"He is the one who doesn’t deserve you. People get drunk on handsomeness and pretty people always get a pass for their toxic behaviour. But he won’t escape this time. If he won’t sign the papers and set you free, we will let the world watch as we expose him and all of his crimes."

Zyair’s determined words were like a balm on her burnt skin. His hand eased the tension that had built up in her head as they both discussed all the points and strategies they were going to include in the divorce papers.

His hands had some kind of magic, the more his skilled fingers massaged her head the more relief she experienced, the serenity spread its comforting wings as her eyes began to droop.

Still holding on to his other hand, tired, broken and exhausted Skyla went to sleep, tucked away safely into his lap.
