Chapter 134: Reward For Him
He held her like a lifeline. His artistic hands rubbed her back as if he were trying to remove the traces of all that pain inside of her. She embraced him fully with no plans of letting go.
"I don’t want him hurting you. I was so afraid whenever he would say he would destroy you. You know what people like him are like. That’s why I said all those harsh words to you."
Her words buried that insecure part of him, down, deep and under. He knew it was some threat that was keeping her away from him and now it was confirmed.
"He can’t do anything to me, Skyla. All these worries just give them to me now. I will handle him and whatever he tries," he requested in a desperate voice.
"I know that now just help me get rid of him. I can’t stand to be with him anymore. And secure my father’s company. I am tired, I don’t have any strength left for abuse," she begged, clinging to his sturdy frame.
A heaviness seemed to have been lifted off her chest now that she had told him of the threats Doran made.
Zyair’s overagitated heart eased. He had wanted for her to come to him willingly and fate had delivered her right to his doorstep.
"Together we will get rid of him and I promise once we are done with him. He will not even have his own company, let alone your father’s."
His deep voice laced with threats was disturbing but Skyla didn’t care. Today she wanted him to suffer, she snuggled close to him and his hand went behind her head holding her near his heart, where she belonged.
"Can I tell you something?" She asked, soaking in his soothing scent.
"Always." Zyair took off the scrunchie holding her hair captive and spread them on her back, slowly combing his fingers through their softness.
"I punched him as you taught me and I think it hurt because he cursed me and let go of my wrist," she proudly informed him, a warm tingling sensation settled in her chest.
He stepped slightly back in shock and she lifted her head to look at him with a hint of a smile.
"You did?" He asked, startled, his blues widened in amusement.
"Yes!"
"I am so proud of you, Sky. So very proud of you," his eyes crinkled at the sides and shone telling her he was smiling underneath.
"Well, I have the best Sensei in the world. A real personification of Kakashi." She radiantly smiled back. Every nerve in his body was aching to kiss her as she held his gaze. Not wanting to break the hypnotic trance.
Her phone began to ring, breaking the moment. She went to check who it was. Fishing it out she saw it was Doran and her soft features hardened. The light in her eyes dimmed.
"It’s him," she finally gritted out. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
"Block his number. We will only speak to him through the lawyer when we serve him with divorce papers." He held out his hand and she handed her phone to him.
Zyair efficiently cut the call and then placed Doran’s number into the blocked list. He didn’t even want her talking to that junk.
"He won’t disturb you anymore. If he follows you on any social media, block his ass from there as well," Zyair instructed while handing her phone back.
"He doesn’t, I was never that important to him," she informed Zyair with a sigh and slumped back down on the sofa.
"His loss, Skyla. Did you eat dinner?" He asked, trying to change the depressing topic. This was only going to get difficult from here on.
"No, I am not hungry."
"Well, you will be when I cook for you. Tell me what you want." Zyair hovered over her bending his torso so he was at eye level with Skyla.
’You!’ Her needy body and mind wanted to say but she held her tongue.
"Anything will suffice," she said instead.
"Come then, sit with me in the kitchen and I will make you something special." Without any effort, he picked her up and carried her to the kitchen. The blush he loved to see on her cheeks was back as she held onto his neck without trying to look at him. He smirked.
Zyair placed her on the kitchen counter. The grocery bags lay on the counters, he had brought groceries on his way back from the office like he had told her.
"I will help put the groceries away," she offered, trying to step off.
"Absolutely not, after the day you had I want you to rest. Here try these," he pulled out a packet of double chocolate biscuits and handed it to her. She stared from biscuits to him in a slight disbelief.
"Don’t judge, I didn’t have these goodies in my childhood. Making up for lost time," he dryly laughed as she accepted the packet.
"I wasn’t judging you, I used to love these biscuits when I was a kid, still do. I was just startled that you like them too," she happily told him.
"I know, Sky." He playfully ruffled her hair leaving her a bit confused.
"How do you know? I never told you," she asked confusedly, opening the packet.
"I just do, I will tell you some other time. Eat your sweet goodies." Zyair began to empty the grocery bags while Skyla puzzledly ate the biscuit.
Zyair tidied up the kitchen, placing away everything neatly to where it belonged. Nothing remained out of sorts as he cleaned behind him and then went on to make a dish of chicken and vegetables he had invented himself.
She quietly observed as he skillfully diced and sliced the veggies, cut out chicken fillets and layered them all in a pot with seasoning, spices and lots of onions, tomatoes and cheese.
He then covered the pot with a lid, washed and dried his hands and moved closer to where Skyla was sitting quietly watching him.
"This looks so appetizing, what’s it called?" She questioned with a smile.
"Veg-chi!" He took her hand in his and placed it on his face.
"Did you invent this name?" She placed her other hand on his face as well letting him lean closer to her as his hands held onto the kitchen counter.
"Yes and the dish too. It’s all about the perfect blend of spices and veggies in it," he informed her. Watching those desirable rosy lips of her he so wanted to taste.
"That demands a reward isn’t it?" Her lips moved closer to his forehead. Her husband’s words echoed in her brain.
’You have fallen in love with him, haven’t you?’ It did make her wonder. Was she in love with this charismatic man she knew so less about?
Could she be? Was she even capable of that after the traumatic life she had?
Skyla didn’t know yet. All she knew was she wanted to end her abusive marriage and feel every ounce of love and affection this man offered.
Her fingers brushed away the lingering stray locks from the front of his eyes and slowly pushed them away from his forehead, revealing it to her. Her lips slowly descended and she kissed him there on his smooth skin, thanking him for everything he had done for her.
"Thank you, Calix, for being so amazing. You are a treasure."
