Chapter 113: Skyla Makes Pancakes

(This Chapter is for Vc12. Thanku so much for all your support. Much love <3)

Zyair sat still for a long time with her cuddled up in his lap, sleeping so peacefully.

How could someone hurt her? The question kept angering him. But then he had seen his fair share of sadists.

From all the time he had come to know her, she was extremely kind and cared for others. So how could God be so cruel to hand her over to someone like Doran?

After everything Doran had done, Zyair could sense she still wasn’t prepared to leave this hellish life behind.

Her confidence was all but shattered, her mental health was in ruins and her physical health was declining by the day as well.

And he didn’t even want to imagine how much sexual abuse she must have gone through.

She needed to realise that this type of life was not worth it. But he will bring her out of it no matter what it would take.

Zyair had taken off his mask, now that she was asleep. His lips soothingly rested on the top of her head, his left hand was on her waist while his right was in her hair, gently holding her silken strands.

The colour fascinated him, so bright, so rich.

Her trust in him was the most crucial element. It was the core on which he wished to build a relationship with her. Without trust, a relationship could never exist, and could never flourish.

He would never break it.

He sat there for hours with her safely tugged in his arms not wanting to let her go but she needed to rest on a proper bed and knew if she woke up she would get all awkward again. His girl needed to remain at ease.

So he carried her to the guest room and safely tucked her in bed. Covering her with a blanket because the temperature had dropped due to consistent rain.

She groaned and her forehead creased as he separated himself from her. His own heart longed to just climb into bed with her and hold onto her all night long.

That was inappropriate and Zyair would always do right by her. Letting her come to him at the proper time when she will be mentally and emotionally prepared.

Although he won’t stop coaxing and teasing her. A smile spread on his face thinking of today and all those cute moments they had shared, all those revelations he made and how flustered she appeared.

Bending over Zyair pressed a small kiss on her forehead, she stirred and mumbled something before hiding under the blanket and curling up. He heartily chuckled at her reaction and continued to watch her for a few more seconds. ƒreewebɳovel.com

"Good night, Skyla!" he whispered one last time and walked away, dimming the lights on his way out and softly closing the door behind him. freewebnovёl.ƈom

The buzzing of a cell phone woke Skyla up. She was disoriented and for a few seconds, she couldn’t comprehend where she was.

"Oh!" She clutched her head and rubbed her eyes when she realised she was at Zyair’s place.

Getting out of bed Skyla approached her bag and took out the incessantly beeping cell phone and realised it was Zyair’s.

It was on vibration mode and there were lots of missed calls and texts. This particular call was coming from his mother so she knew she had to get this to him.

It could be an emergency because the rain was continuing outside. It had lessened but she could hear the patter.

Skyla exited the room and went to his room. She hesitated but then took a deep breath and knocked two times on his door and waited but impatiently.

The memories of last night began to swirl inside her brain. She had gone to sleep in his lap. He had held her with those hands she fantasised about.

The deepest pits of her stomach began to churn again with desires she wanted to keep buried. But for how long? She needed love too, she needed intimacy, to be held, to be cherished.

Her boss was the only man she had ever slept with. And deep in her heart, she knew he was the only man she would trust her body with. There was this unexplainable attraction she felt towards him. His calmness, his mysteriousness, his words, his enigmatic eyes, everything attracted her. It made her lose control like none other.

In his office when he said he would kiss her senseless if she didn’t come with him, she actually internally wished he would.

The door finally opened, breaking her fantasies and her wanton thought process.

"Hey! Good morning," he said sleepily. His eyes seemed tired and slightly red from lack of sleep as Skyla lifted her head and stared at him. A sliver of guilt crept up on her. She had disturbed his sleep.

"Hey! Sorry, I woke you up. Your phone was ringing." She offered him an awkward smile and extended his phone towards him.

"Oh! I forgot it was with you. I don’t use it much so I usually forget its existence," he accepted it but it was a lie.

For the past few months, he kept his phone glued to him, always waiting for a text from her or checking out her Instagram profile like a stalker.

"No problem. You can take your calls, I will prepare breakfast. What would you like to have?"

Breakfast prepared by her? He smiled like an idiot under his mask. Her baking was exceptional, every sweet goodie she brought for him was to die for and he couldn’t wait to eat some delicious breakfast. At the same time, he didn’t want to burden her.

"It’s alright, I can do it."

She shook her head before requesting.

"Let me."

"Alright! But I eat a lot." He winked at her and she couldn’t help but giggle.

"That will not be an issue, I will prepare a feast, fit for a king." She winked back at him. He so wanted to capture her in his arms at that moment and kiss her, but he kept his hands to himself.

One step at a time boy. Don’t rush and ruin it.

"Alright, I will join you shortly. Prepare whatever is in the fridge. I recently stacked it," he informed her, she nodded and walked away.

Freshening up, Skyla made her way back to the kitchen. She found some pancake mixture and decided to make them. There was no fresh fruit, showing he hadn’t been living here but she found some tinned ones.

’These will do,’ she thought and began to prepare breakfast.

Skyla was flipping pancakes when he entered the kitchen. Fresh and manly that’s how he smelled. He sauntered over to her and leaned along the kitchen counter, crossing his big burly arms over his ripped chest.

The red V-neck he had adorned with black slacks fitted him too perfectly. As usual, there was not a wrinkle on his clothes. It baffled her how he was always so prim.

"Smells lovely, I am famished." Zyair’s mouth watered seeing the pancakes.

"Almost ready but can I request something?" She asked, keeping her eyes on the pancakes while his wavered to her. Skyla had tied up her hair and the pin was back in them.

"Of course!"

"Eat with me, I promise I won’t look at your face." She spoke out with a deep blush and hoped he wouldn’t think she was overstepping her boundaries.
