Chapter 112: Thud! Thud! Thud!

Her tears kept flowing and he kept wiping them.

Quietly, resolutely, wordlessly, gently.

He let her cry and unburden, not telling her to stop. She needed to get this out as many times as it took.

Although it hurt as if someone was slashing his heart with a saw, he stayed resolute.

Once she had quieted down a bit and the tears ceased to drip out of her swollen eyes, he applied the healing balm on her cheek again.

Putting the box on the table Zyair finally lifted himself off the floor and settled alongside Skyla. She was huddled up on the leather sofa, her legs pushed to her chest in a vulnerable position.

"Come here!" He lifted his right arm and quietly asked, keeping his emotions in check so she could scoot over to him if she wanted. He needed to be strong for both of them.

She had placed her head on her bent knees and tilted it so she could longingly gaze at him but she didn’t move. Zyair dropped his arm a bit disappointed but he didn’t show her.

Instead, he reached out and gently placed his hand on her bruised face, avoiding her injury. Sitting in profound silence they stared at each other. The time slowed down and then ceased to exist as both of them were lost in each other’s eyes, revelling in each other’s presence.

No words were spoken for none were needed. Both of them had caged demons, both of them were fighting silent battles, and both of them were broken, battered and bruised.

But their hearts found solace with each other.

His touch abated her anxiety and pain while hers pulled him out of the vile darkness which lived deep inside his heart.

"Talk to me, what did he do today?" He tenderly questioned, his eyes swimming with the turmoil of holding himself back.

Skyla closed her eyes for a second and readied herself. Opening them again she slowly began to tell Zyair everything that had transpired.

He listened quietly, very very quietly but his jaw kept tightening as if being set in stone. By the time she finished, he regretted letting him live.

"I see." His disturbed eyes still held onto her.

"And that kidnapping, it was him too, wasn’t it? What happened that time?"

She instantly went rigid and he felt it as his hand was still on her face, the fear descended in her eyes, no there was another emotion. He couldn’t quite place it but knew she was hesitant to talk about it.

"Just nod your head, Skyla, if it was him. I wouldn’t ask you for details."

He needed to know, he was dying to know.

"Yes, it was all him and then he left me in the middle of nowhere without my phone or any money. I was so afraid, Zyair...I," her voice broke after that, she couldn’t continue as the pressure in her nose intensified and she closed her eyes to hide away all the raw pain and vulnerability.

She was so tired.

Tired of crying.

Tired of feeling weak.

Tired of the constant abuse.

Tired of her pathetic life.

"Let me hug you...Sky..." he asked brokenly, the murderous stinging rage curled and rose inside him like a poisonous snake, spreading its venom to every part of his body and down to his soul.

Bitter, vile, heinous and profane thoughts like a horror monster surfaced. The monster he had caged and the monster he was about to set free on that abomination of a man.

How he was still sitting, exerting control was beyond him but Zyair had promised himself he would be patient with this girl and there was nothing more important than her right now.

She shifted slightly towards him and he was ready to enshroud her in the sanctuary which was his arms and lap.

She rapidly inhaled while he exhaled, letting go of a little temper. His hands landed in her soft tresses of silk and he began to comb them slowly.

"I am going to give him a slow torturous death. He will beg for death but it won’t come until I punish him for every crime he has committed against you," he slowly whispered in her ear.

But the bitterness and seriousness of his words made a cold jolt scuttle down her spine. He sensed her unease and rubbed her arm.

"He will get what he deserves, Karma is a bloodthirsty bitch and it doesn’t hold back. So from today onwards, hand over all your worries to me." ƒгeewёbnovel.com

She listened quietly as he kept easing her fears. His soothing touches and warm embrace worked like a charm. Zyair watched her place her bruised cheek right where his heart was.

~Thud~

~Thud~

So strong, so virile, so very soothing.

~Thud~

She could listen to it all day.

~Thud~

There was no better music than his rhythmic beats.

She silently listened and her eyes veered towards him. Her hand shifted and rested on his masked face, her thumb brushed the exposed soft skin under his eye.

His breathing constricted or maybe he forgot how to breathe. Her sentiments and her actions were so serene.

"Thank you for being such a caring and kind person. The world needs more men like you are," she sincerely whispered. Her eyes began to droop as a profound tranquillity surrounded her.

Peace.

He didn’t have the heart to inform her that there was a monster inside of him too. But he kept it caged, only unleashed it on those who had harmed him and the people he loved.

It was a mistake to leave Preston alive, he had thought that the judicial system would not disappoint but it did.

The world would never be a safe place with hungry wolves like him preying on innocent victims. Preston needed to go just like many others who had wronged him over the years.

And then he will come for Doran. Once he had papers in his hands, Zyair would squash him like a mosquito.

No one and literally no one will he allow to hurt this woman in his arms. She would be his if she would take him otherwise she would be free as a morning lark.

Living her life on her terms. She will be untouchable.
