Chapter 962: Chapter 962: Susan Stone’s Attitude
The appearance of the dumplings was actually quite nice—round and plump, with a large belly and full filling. A sauce made with hot oil was drizzled on top, and a few sprigs of scallion really completed the look.
However, it’s uncertain how they would taste.
This thought made Susan Stone chuckle at herself.
After all, dumplings are just dumplings—they all taste the same, don’t they? How could there be anything new?
Susan shook her head and popped the cooled dumpling into her mouth.
In the next instant, a wonderful flavor enveloped her taste buds, so delicious that her toes curled in delight.
At that moment, she finally understood the looks on the students’ faces and what they meant when they said "You’re truly blessed."
Indeed, after eating these dumplings, she felt such happiness, as though her heart was warming up.
Before her husband passed away, the family would sit together for dumplings during New Year’s; unfortunately, such a scene was impossible now.
For a moment, Susan felt like shedding tears.
"Mrs. Stone, are they alright?" Summer Monroe asked with a smile.
Susan swallowed the dumpling, tried to control her facial expression, and kept a dignified composure, saying, "They’re passable."
This "passable" was far from truthful. Susan felt too embarrassed to look at Summer, so she bowed her head and carried on eating.
Dumplings went down one after another, and Susan soon forgot about eating gracefully; in no time, there was only one dumpling left.
She reluctantly picked up the dumpling and placed it in her mouth.
Biting down, she suddenly felt something unusual—there was something hard inside.
Startled, Susan quickly spat the object into her bowl, hearing a "ding" as a coin rolled in the bowl, quietly coming to rest.
Surprised at how there was a coin inside the dumpling, Susan heard applause.
She turned to the sound, only to see Summer Monroe step forward with a smile, saying, "Congratulations, Mrs. Stone, you’ve found the lucky dumpling."
"Lucky dumpling?"
Bella rushed over excitedly saying, "Wow! You actually found it! Out of a hundred bowls of dumplings, only this one contained a coin. You’re really lucky!"
Bella and Cece had never interacted with Damian Knight’s family before, so naturally, they were unaware of Susan’s identity.
Cece did know Susan, but as Cece was currently taking people for milk tea, no one reminded Bella.
Bella continued, "Auntie, could you give me that coin?"
"Give it to you?" Susan asked, puzzled, "It’s only a dollar, and I’ve bitten it. Do you really want it that much?"
"Yes," Bella’s eyes sparkled like stars as she excitedly said, "Miss Monroe said this is the lucky dumpling! Whoever finds the coin will be lucky all year!"
"Oh, that’s how it is..." Meeting Bella’s hopeful eyes, Susan shook her head, saying, "Well, no way. I need to keep the good luck for myself."
Bella’s expression froze, and she huffed a couple of times before walking away.
Summer, observing Susan’s behavior, suddenly wondered if she knew too little about Susan, considering she was competing with a child...
As Summer stared, she saw Susan unperturbedly retrieve the coin from the bowl, wipe it clean with her personal handkerchief, and then hand it over to her.
"? Mrs. Stone?" Summer slowly formed a question mark, unsure what Susan intended with this gesture.
