Chapter 224: The Truth Of The World
Chaotic and colorful bits of memory rushed forward like a fast-flowing river, no longer just showing the spiritual experiences of Kestrel and her friends. Now, the psychic landscape of many more individuals popped up in this rapid stream of psychic energy, showcasing the memories of many humans who had once visited this place.
A bunch of them were alphas, but there were also regular people mixed in. Their psychic landscapes got mixed into the Queen’s vast pool of awareness, becoming a permanent part of this realm.
Some images looked really old, showing soldiers from many years ago, while others were from recent times, including sights of well-known places like the Tower and Imperial Nexus which Kestrel recognized. These memories, whether they were sad, angry, or beautifully warm, created deep swirling pools in this lengthy river.
Deep within these swirling pools, some people were crying, others were laughing crazily, and some were holding their loved ones tightly... they were all lively shows of sadness and happiness, real signs of tears and pain.
Sometimes, Kestrel found herself pulled towards the intense feelings in these memories, struggling to not get even more involved, to not dive deeper into them. In this mind-space, just one thought could suck her into a whirlpool, letting her experience the vast and intricate world of human emotions.
In the midst of these swirling, shiny whirlpools, Kestrel found it really hard to keep going, each step needing a lot of effort, as she stumbled onwards.
She used to think that the most powerful psychic attacks were made of illusions—fake visuals and noises made to mess with and affect the enemy’s mind, throwing them into scary illusions.
But now, she understood that the strongest psychic attacks weren’t just illusions but real experiences. The most effective way to shake a person’s heart and change what they believed was to reveal truths that were buried deep inside the human spirit.
These genuine feelings of love and hate, of bitterness and rage, reached out with their thin arms, wrapping around and holding onto the giant form of the Kraken that walked in this river of awareness.
Deep inside, Kestrel felt a wave of fear.
Here, so many lives lingered, filled with so much sadness and happiness; and she was walking right through it. The intense sadness and joy marked her, sinking into her skin and bones, forcing her to feel every human emotion and endure every worldly pain. freewёbnoνel.com
Still, Kestrel kept going, although very slowly, her tendrils slowly pulling away from the sticky lines that stuck to her, moving forward with slow, heavy steps.
The Queen of Mantidale was standing not too far away, watching her quietly from the Pavilion. She seemed somewhat distant, yet at the same time, strangely close.
The surge of psychic energy was slowly changing. The pieces of human memories were becoming less, and what Kestrel saw now were glimpses of the human world, but through the strange eyes of mutants.
Step by step, the pictures became stranger, looking like someone watching from a really high place, calmly showing the different phases of human history. From the attack of the mutated creatures to how humans fought back. From humans making monsters in secret labs underground to them using monster blood to make powerful human-like weapons — the alphas and betas.
The winding, twisting river vanished; now Kestrel was on firm land, walking through a long clear hallway, with long pictures hanging on both sides.
The pictures were really bright, with people shown as simple flat drawings. The little black figures were moving, waving their powerful weapons, battling the weird creatures.
Kestrel at last saw the huge secret hidden in history, something no one knew — the real reason why humanity fell apart completely.
After getting the blood of different mutated creatures put into them, many strong and effective fighters appeared among humans. The alphas had amazing physical skills, while the betas could create strong mental barriers.
With these humanoid weapons, the Empire started a big project to take back their land. In the long picture, the king of the Empire started a massive journey with a horn blast.
In the sky, there were part-beast alphas flying, with betas in the middle of alpha groups. Further back were soldiers moving forward with big heavy weapons. Even though they were fighting a few monsters, the human teams were really energetic. People back then thought they had the power of gods, yelling happily in the scenes shown in the pictures.
In the labs, the small black figures became more and more wild, busy with using monster blood on everyone, not realizing they had started something really scary.
Kestrel started walking slower.
In the long picture, fighters who were in long battles slowly couldn’t avoid changing, becoming weird mutated creatures—dragon slayers finally became evil dragons.
The changed alphas became monsters, hurting their own kind.
The falling apart betas turned into places for eggs to grow, becoming the scary "the Backbones", making different strange "Polluted Zones", places good for mutants to live.

By the time people understood that things were out of control, the genes of the alphas and betas were already a permanent part of humans, something that couldn’t be changed.
Without realizing, Kestrel had gotten to the end of the picture, walking into the Pavilion.
The Queen there pointed at the end of the picture, telling Kestrel, "I came to life during that time. In those days, I saw with my own eyes how humans began to tear themselves apart from within."
Following where she was pointing, at the very end of the picture, humans had moved back to a tiny area, but those small black figures were still fighting each other, trying to get resources.
The king with a crown and the princes and princesses wearing special wreaths were fighting to become the main leader of the Empire, forcing each other’s soldiers into the Polluted Zones, places that represented death.
Now, watching from a distance, the actions of those tiny figures in the picture looked really silly and ridiculous, but it showed the past story of people.
Standing next to Kestrel, the Queen put her hand over her mouth and sighed, "In the beginning, I just couldn’t get it. I couldn’t figure out why humans would hurt each other like this. Over time, I read lots of books about people’s history, understanding that it was part of their nature."
She opened her arms in a beautiful way, saying, "I didn’t get it at that moment."
She stopped for a bit, then said, "When we finally understood, there were barely any humans left. It’s so scary, thinking about how many of them used to live on this planet."
She lightly touched the green stone she had on her chest, "So, to keep the humans safe, we had to come up with a plan."
After she stopped talking, everything went quiet.
The tiny figures in the picture were still holding their weapons. Outside of the picture, a breeze blew over the endless field of flowers, making waves of colors move.
Kestrel felt a shiver, remembering something Pain had said before — "humans are kept like animals."
The Queen stood silently next to Kestrel, elegantly acting like a human, even though she had weird scary arms coming out from under her dress. Right then, Kestrel got a whole bunch of thoughts and ideas from the Queen. The new information quickly filled her mind, joining up with what she already knew.
