Chapter 188: A Wet Kiss (2)

Ren was as valuable as a jewel, the best person Kestrel had ever known. She was boiling with rage, furious that those people even dared to plan hurting him so cruelly, forcing him to act in such a weird way, to catch him and make him suffer such shame and pain.

The mere thought that this almost happened made Kestrel’s anger flare up wildly. The anger got stronger and stronger, and there was no way to stop it. It made her feel like she couldn’t stand it anymore, and that she would one day get rid of the root of all this evil to finally be at peace. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

Kestrel believed that, the nasty tower, the crumbling dynasty, the wicked queen — these seemingly pure but actually corrupt and falling apart things — would be destroyed by her and many others’ anger one day.

In the darkness, Ren turned away. After Kestrel told him that she would keep him safe and he could trust her, the wall he had built up inside himself broke down almost immediately.

He felt a basic, powerful force wake up from the deepest place in his inner world, burning strongly, and the huge, deep ocean couldn’t put it out.

Tiny bubbles came up from the deep blue bottom of the sea in his psychic landscape, the seawater was getting hot, overwhelmed, turning a deep red color.

Ren felt like he was falling, with everything he held dear slipping away, falling apart as he went.

All the hidden hurts and pain, weakness and vulnerability, shame and unbearable feelings, along with some dark, ugly secrets, were now coming up, rising to the surface of the water, openly showing to the person he least wanted to see them, under her watchful eyes.

Kestrel’s tendrils moved around wildly, creating a small, private area just big enough for the two of them.

Ren shut his eyes and turned his back, sweat and a kind of goo soaked through his tight outfit. The wet black material stuck to his skin, showing the firm contours of his back.

Ren was a seasoned alpha, having wide shoulders, a narrow, strong waist, and really powerful legs. He had braved the Polluted Zone thousands of times, gone through numerous painful situations, and was able to sneak into enemy territory alone, taking out foes without a second thought. But now, he was curled up in a dark corner, too weak to even give himself an injection.

His body was drenched in sweat, shaking uncontrollably, giving off a kind of subtle fragrance, resembling a fish stranded on rocks, futilely flapping its tail. He was like a ripe fruit on a tree during fall, hanging limply from a branch. His feeling was akin to a snail slowly creeping over the moist meadows in spring, or butterflies sticking together in the rose shadows at night.

Kestrel felt a stir in her throat, an emotion coming up that shouldn’t have been there, mixed with her anger.

She quickly and meticulously checked herself, making sure that her inner world hadn’t been breached or swayed by the Queen. Yet, there was something unexplainable happening, sparked by the person in front of her, awakened by the faint sound of panting, resembling a sly fish swimming within her, hard to pin down but incredibly vivid.

Kestrel experienced a bit of dryness in her throat, longing for something, preferably very sweet.

The compact area marked by the tendrils soon became filled with Ren’s smell, every detail seemed to be intensified in this place. It felt like she could see the sweat rolling down Ren in the dark, his furrowed forehead, his thin lips pressed tightly together, and his fists held firmly in black gloves.

In this moment, Kestrel and all her tendrils were more united than ever, no longer holding onto different thoughts or weird fascinations; at this time, all their thoughts were perfectly in sync, focusing intently on one thing.

All the background noise stopped, the world was quiet. In this small space, only the breathing and heartbeats of the two were audible.

Beginning with Kestrel, every mind, every line of thought was centered on Ren, observing his every reaction, sensing the emotional highs and lows brought about by the unique feelings he was giving off.

From Kestrel to each one of her tendrils, they could distinctly sense Ren’s tough perseverance and his intense distress.

Ren held himself tightly, the tendrils on the ground became damp from the sweat he was shedding. The suction parts on the tendrils twitched a bit, absorbing a few sweat droplets, unable to hold back their jittery movements.

"Can I help you?" Kestrel heard herself ask. Her voice sounded unusually dreamlike, enchanting in the damp air, barely resembling something that could have come from her.

Ren responded quickly, but what he said wasn’t clear. His voice was like syrup being poured, sticky and unclear, enticing wandering thoughts with its sweetness, yet wholly incomprehensible. It sounded like a call for company, a kind of plea, maybe even a little like sobbing.

Kestrel couldn’t hold back, reaching out to touch his damp hair, feeling the soft and wet strands. The moment she made contact, he started shaking.

All of a sudden, Kestrel felt a sense of déjà vu, like she had witnessed this scene before - the dim area, the waving tendrils, and the damp alpha.

She looked down and saw Ren’s thin lips, which he had bitten to the point of bleeding, casting a faint shimmer in the dark.

Those were lips she knew she had kissed before, Kestrel realized with certainty.

She moved closer, observing the foggy look in Ren’s eyes that seemed like liquid amber. Their noses brushed against each other, allowing them to sense each other’s breath.

Kestrel bent down to kiss those slender lips, sharing her beta pheromones with him. Just as she had pictured, his lips were the sweetest thing she had ever experienced in this world.

Time seemed to stand still in this moment, as if even breathing was put on pause. They weren’t sure how much time had passed before they pulled apart, looking at each other while breathing heavily, feeling the strong beats of their hearts. This sensation was extremely delightful, every inch of them felt freed, each hair lay smoothly, arousing an uncontrollable urge to explore more, to gain more joy from each other.

In the subdued light, a subtle glow allowed Kestrel to see a trace of wetness streaming down from the corner of Ren’s eyes. This kind of soft glow was absolutely stunning, prompting Kestrel to remind herself not to take things too far.

She thought back to Brandon’s total loss of control, the utter disorder it caused in the mental realm.

"Don’t push too much, Kestrel," she kept telling herself. "I’m just aiding him, just this once. It’s just support, nothing more."

But Ren was just too irresistible, his flavor too exquisite, making it impossible for Kestrel to not bend down and savor him one more time.
