Chapter 2431: Chapter 2429: The Godslayer
The Knights crawled up from the rubble, straightened their clothes and armor, and continued following Long Fei up the mountain.
With Long Fei there, their fear of the Divine Spirits calmed down a lot.
Everyone climbed to mid‑mountain; the gigantic palace on the summit was already clearly visible.
The palace was magnificent and imposing, built from white marble limestone. It didn’t look like a place for mortals to live, more like a giant’s palace.
The main hall towered three hundred meters high, spread across the mountaintop in all directions, like a castle belonging to giants.
High in the sky, winged beasts were circling.
Among them were lion-shaped Griffins, Lizard-shaped Black Dragons, and Giant Eagles with black wings.
Their eyes shone with golden light, all fixed on Long Fei and his group.
Lin Yingying glanced up at the sky and said, "Looks like those Divine Spirits have already noticed us."
Long Fei looked at the Little Fatty in her arms and said, "How’s this guy still sleeping? There’s a show and he won’t even take a look."
The Little Fatty turned over in Lin Yingying’s arms, let out a sweet little yawn, as if to tell Long Fei that he really was sleepy.
Lin Yingying hugged him a bit higher and said, "It’s better if this guy doesn’t get up. If he wakes up, who knows how exhausting he’ll be."
Long Fei thought about it and said, "We’ve gotta get ourselves a chariot, otherwise it’s a pain to go anywhere."
"Don’t we already have the Emperor’s Chariot? We’re just missing something to pull it."
Lin Yingying reminded him.
Long Fei looked up at the mountain and said, "True. Later when we get up there, let’s see if there’s anything suitable to pull the cart."
They were speaking in the Eastern tongue, but Helis beside them was extremely sharp.
From what she heard, Long Fei meant to find a draft beast on the Divine Mountain. She couldn’t help being startled in her heart, not knowing how great the origin of this Eastern deity was—he clearly didn’t put the Divine Spirits on the mountain in his eyes at all.
They climbed up along the perilous mountain ridge and finally saw the scenery at the top.
The palaces on the mountain rose all along the range.
At the entrance stood a massive gate of white marble pillars.
Just as they approached the gate, a dog’s bark suddenly rang out.
A gigantic monster over ten meters tall appeared, with three heads, black drool dripping from its maws. Its tail was like a long serpent covered in black scales. It bared its fangs and snarled viciously at Long Fei and the others.
"Hellhound!"
A group of Knights were so frightened they hurriedly lifted their Long Spears and Shields, terrified of this ferocious demon dog.
The Little Fatty in Lin Yingying’s arms was startled awake by the sound. He stared wide‑eyed at the Hellhound.
"Uncle Wolf?"
He called out in a tender voice, as if remembering something.
Lin Yingying laughed and explained, "He’s not your Uncle Wolf."
Long Fei raised a brow, suddenly remembering the three‑headed wolf that pulled the cart on Jade Island.
Judging from this, this little guy had been able to sense what was happening outside even while he was still in the womb.
Looking at this kid, he suddenly felt very awkward.
Back then, he and Lin Yingying sure had done plenty of shameful things.
The Hellhound snorted black smoke from its nose and lunged at the crowd with its jaws wide open.
Knight Captain Caesar hurriedly drew his bow and loosed arrows, aiming at the Hellhound’s eyes.
The rain of arrows was swift, but just as it reached the Hellhound, the beast suddenly spewed out a blast of flame.
The searing heat swept out, burning the arrow rain into white smoke in an instant.
Its massive body charged up, and with a lash of its tail—like a long whip—it sent Caesar and a group of Knights flying.
The Little Fatty in Lin Yingying’s arms let out a sharp "Wah!" and sprang up, landing a kick on the Hellhound’s head.
His foot was small; it only brushed the Hellhound’s head like a dragonfly skimming water.
One of the Hellhound’s heads exploded like a watermelon.
It let out a miserable howl; the remaining two heads roared in fury, spewing flames at the Little Fatty from both sides.
The Little Fatty wasn’t afraid of the flames at all. A black Chaos shadow burst out from his body, and he flew out with two more kicks at the vicious beast.
With two loud bangs, the Hellhound’s remaining two heads were kicked to pieces, and its massive body crashed heavily to the ground.
The Little Fatty dropped from midair, landed on its body, studied it carefully, and said, "You’re not Uncle Wolf!"
Feeling rather bored, he went back into Lin Yingying’s arms, yawned, and closed his eyes again.
Truly a case of "when the deed is done, brush off your sleeves and go, hiding your merit and fame."
Helis and Paris, standing in the back, were both completely dumbfounded.
Caesar led the Knights back in a sorry state, equally stunned by the Little Fatty in Lin Yingying’s arms.
Such a tiny child had so easily flattened the Hellhound.
Everyone exchanged wry smiles, not knowing what to say.
Long Fei rubbed his head, staring at this Little Fatty with the same speechless look, feeling that this kid was far better at showing off than he was.
He’d appear out of nowhere to show off, then immediately return to low‑key mode once he finished the job.
His technique at acting cool was so seasoned that as a father, Long Fei felt ashamed of himself.
Once the Hellhound died, there was immediately movement inside the Temple.
Someone shouted, "You mortals dare to slaughter our Temple’s gate‑guarding hound? Do you truly take us for nothing?"
The ground shook as some big shot came out from within.
A young giant, ten meters tall, clad in Golden Armor, holding a Long Spear and a Shield, with a stern face full of ferocity, strode out.
His eyes locked onto the Hellhound’s corpse. He whipped his Long Spear up and pointed it angrily at Long Fei and the others. "Who killed my beloved hound?"
"I did."
Long Fei stepped out and spoke calmly.
What the son did, the father would clean up.
The young man said coldly, "Very good. You are the first Human Race to come make trouble in my Temple. I’ll take your life as a burial gift for my beloved hound!"
His voice boomed like Thunderbolt.
He suddenly raised the Long Spear in his hand, stirring up a black gale in midair, and thrust it fiercely at Long Fei.
The spear was over twenty meters long, like a gigantic Zhuzi, sweeping toward Long Fei.
Long Fei raised his hand; a giant palm imprint appeared in the Void and grabbed the spear head‑on.
With a bang, the spear was abruptly halted.
The young Divine Spirit tightened his grip, veins bulging on his body, but he couldn’t move the spear an inch.
Long Fei said to him lightly, "What’s your name? I don’t kill nameless people."
"Ares!"
The young Divine Spirit roared, never expecting this mortal to seize his spear.
Golden light flared all over him. He raised his massive Shield and hurled it violently at Long Fei.
The gale that rose scared the Knights behind so badly that they all retreated, shouting from within, "That’s the War God Ares!"
Ares, one of the Twelve Main Gods.
The War God worshiped in the Western Direction, enjoying tremendous renown among mortals.
His Shield spun like a Golden Wheel, twisting the Void before Long Fei into a whirl.
The sheer force of it could collapse a mountain peak.
Long Fei didn’t move, but a black, door‑like substance suddenly appeared in front of him.
The Golden Shield flashed into it, then suddenly appeared behind Ares, vanishing and reappearing out of thin air, giving Ares no time to react.
The huge spinning force, carrying the Shield’s sharp grinding power, slammed into Ares with a boom and sent him flying.
Even with his invincible Golden Body, Ares was still carved with a bloody gash at the waist by his own Shield and crashed heavily to the ground.
Rocks flew; cracks spread out in all directions around Ares.
His Long Spear was snatched away by Long Fei. Before he could climb up from the ground, Long Fei thrust the spear into his heart, driving half the shaft deep into the earth.
