Chapter 82: Disciplined
"Ptu...!"
Mika spat a few drops of blood on the ground.
"Are you trying to interfere again?" the red student, who was also part of the disciplinary committee, asked displeased.
"What did he do?" Mika asked sternly with his gaze directed at the frail black-class student.
"He-"
"I-I did nothing!" the boy cut the red student off.
"I saw how he was looking around suspiciously. Obviously, he was waiting for the other students to come out so that he could ambush them."
"That’s not true! I was watching out for any attacks from- Hmph!"
"Hey!" Mika yelled enraged.
Before the boy could end his phrase, the red student stomped his head into the ground.
"What?" he asked annoyed with his foot still on the boy’s face.
"I’m just doing my job. This guy tried to disrupt the order here and I’m just merely protecting said order. Do you still want to meddle in?"
His gaze sharpened and the force he put into his foot increased.
The boy was struggling to get rid of his foot.
"You twisted bastard..." Mika cursed barely audible.
His body loosened up.
With closed eyes, he took a deep breath.
Starting from the tips, his hair changed its color.
"What the hell..."
Astonished by the view, he accidentally loosened up allowing the frail boy to free himself.
The boy pushed the foot away and rolled to the side, but he, too, turned speechless when he noticed Mika’s change.
A bright halo appeared above Mika’s head.
He lifted his chin up a little and then slowly opened his blue eyes with white cross-like pupils. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
The disciplinary member reflexively took a few steps back.
"Is that a relic...?"
Mika touched his white shining sword and when he drew it out, the whiteness faded away, revealing Excalibur’s original form.
He took small steps towards them.
"...!"
It took him a moment to realize that Mika was approaching him with a sword in his hand.
It was not just the sword or his sudden change in appearance that slowly instilled fear into him. It was the air around him and the pressure he emitted.
"Y-you...! I don’t care if you have a relic! I’m Ramaal Codik from the disciplinary committee! Going against me means going against every one of us!" Ramaal shouted energetically and in panic.
He gathered flames in his hands.
"I-I’m a B-rank, you hear me?!"
He stepped back again, whereas Mika moved forward unbothered.
"F-fine, take this then!"
Ramaal threw a fireball at Mika, however, he sliced through it effortlessly.
Instead of splitting up into two halves, the fireball disappeared instantly.
"Hiii!" he screeched in fear as he continued to move backward.
Mika changed Excalibur for the Holy Spear.
"A-a-another r-relic?!"
Tears started to dwell in his eyes and his nose became drippy.
And the next thing he knew was that the spear, whose length was increased, was swung at his head from the side, knocking him out.
Mika heaved a sigh as he undid his transformation.
"I must admit, it feels pretty good to fight without holding back anymore." he remarked with a satisfied smirk.
He checked out his surroundings.
"Huh? Where did that boy go to?"
Mika did not notice that the student from his class ran away while Mika was beating up Ramaal.
"Whatever... It’s fine as long as he’s unharmed, I guess."
He shrugged his shoulder.
Then, Mika went back on course to the dorms.
And just like they said, Belian and the others were there.
"Thanks and sorry for carrying my things over." Mika said as he scratched the back of his head awkwardly.
"No problem. For Harik, it was nothing." Belian replied, pointing to Harik who was flexing his arms proudly.
"Did you run into any problems on your way here?" Rachel asked.
"Oh, you’re awake now?"
Rachel sharpened her eyes.
"P-problems, huh...?"
Mika averted his gaze anxiously away from her.
"It’s not really a problem, but I did encounter someone from the disciplinary committee."
"!"
Their eyes enlarged.
"And what happened?"
"Did he approach you?"
"What’s his name?"
The three closed the distance as they threw one question after another at Mika.
Overwhelmed, Mika tried to explain what happened.
"Huh?! You did what?!"
Rachel was baffled.
"Hahaha! To think you’d knock him out this easily! Let’s spar once you have time!"
Harik laughed impressed.
"..."
Belian remained indifferent.
"Did you hold back again?"
"Hm? What do you mean, Belian?"
"Are you saying that he is even stronger?"
"..."
Belian stared at Mika.
In return, Mika sighed again.
"I won’t hold back anymore." he replied with a slight smirk.
"Heh, is that so?" Belian chuckled once while wearing a satisfied expression.
"D-did you hear that, Rachel...?"
"B-Belian... Did you just laugh...?"
The two were even more shocked to hear Belian’s faint chuckle than when they heard of Mika’s previous incident with the disciplinary committee member.
"Let’s go."
Belian turned his back on Mika and began to walk away.
"See you tomorrow, Mika."
"W-wait, Belian! Can you laugh once more...?"
"Hey, Rachel, do we have anything to record that?!"
Their voices grew faint as they left the area.
With an exhausted smile on his face, Mika headed inside and then to his room.
"..."
He stood right in front of his room’s door.
His hand was on the knob.
[What are you waiting for?]
"I don’t know why but I feel a little nervous, haha..."
[Initiating Autopil-]
"Fine! I’m doing it so cut the crap!" Mika yelled anxiously as he turned the knob.
He opened the door.
"..."
But there was no one.
"Gerard...?" he muttered softly with widened eyes as he continued to stare into an empty room.
"Yes?"
"!"
Mika turned his head to the side and flinched strongly when he saw Gerard standing right beside him.
"Shit! Don’t scare me like that!" he shouted with a reddened face.
"Haha, sorry!"
A smile crept onto Mika’s face.
"It’s good to see you again."
"Yeah, I could say the same to you."Gerard replied as he patted Mika’s shoulder.
The two entered their room and closed the door behind them.
"Are you fine now?" Mika asked as he put his luggage on his bed.
"I’m completely healthy now."
Gerard flashed a smile at Mika.
"Good..." he muttered relieved.
"But what about you? I heard you had it a lot worse than everyone."
Gerard turned stern.
"No need to worry, I had enough rest!" Mika replied energetically.
"I see." Gerard said with a light smile.
His body faced Mika.
"What’s the matter?"
He bowed his head.
"I don’t know what happened at the Desolated Fortress, but nonetheless..."
"...thank you for rescuing me and my team! Really... Thank you!"
"..."
Mika was agape for a moment.
"It’s fine. You can lift your head up. Isn’t it normal for friends to rush to one’s side in moments of crisis?" Mika stated.
"..."
Gerard could only smile gratefully as he straightened his posture.
Deep down, he swore in this moment that he would someday return this favor. Even if it was a demon again, he would come to Mika’s aide, just like Mika did.
The sun was setting as the two were catching up.
They would talk about everything that happened during the time they did not see each other.
Gerard also told Mika that Adin and Ron were also fine, which put Mika at ease.
Furthermore, they talked about the academy’s current situation.
His perspective. The atmosphere inside his new class. Cail’s behavior and much more.
"By the way, what happened to Judi?" Mika wondered.
The atmosphere was comfortable and the room was filled with laughter a while ago.
But with that question, it turned sour.
"..."
Gerard averted his eyes from Mika.
"Listen, Mika..."
He proceeded to explain the situation, even though his tone was bitter and his voice was trembling.
Mika listened to everything he said, but his previous crescent-formed mouth gradually turned straighter. His eyes eventually narrowed and became void of any emotions.
No.
There was something left in his eyes.
Bloodlust.
"That’s the gist of it..."
"I see."
It was silent.
The moon was already up.
"It’s gotten late. Let’s sleep for now, shall we?" Mika suggested, sounding completely normal.
"S-sure..."
Gerard was unable to take a look at Mika’s expression as he instantly went to bed.
Thus, remaining in the unknown Gerard turned the lights off.
The next morning.
"Hrngh..."
Gerard groaned sleepily as he blinked multiple times.
"..."
The sun shone through the curtains.
He looked at the clock.
"!"
In the brink of a second, he jumped out of his bed.
"Shoot! Mika, look at the..."
He turned to Mika’s bed.
"...clock..."
However, he was not in his bed.
"No... Don’t tell me..."
Gerard was overcome with panic.
He hurriedly prepared himself for the academy and stormed out of the dorms.
On his way to the academy, he passed by many students, including Belian.
"Wasn’t that Mika’s friend...?" Belian pondered with a tilted head.
Gerard did not slow down. But his breathing began to get ragged.
"That idiot...!" he muttered as he ran.
