Chapter 176: The Next Level
"What’s going on outside, Ms. Ross?" Lily asked concerned.
Ophelia just entered the cabins and told each person that they should stay inside for the time being. Of course, some people, especially the students from the white class, noticed that it must have been monsters attacking them again. But based on how calm Ophelia was, they remained obedient.
Still, there were those, who wanted to help out.
"Are we under attack?" Sylvia asked, preparing herself to go outside.
"It’s fine. We can deal with them on our own." Ophelia reassured the two.
"?"
Lily tilted her head.
"Mika and Sara are taking care of the monsters."
"But can they do it with just the two of them?"
"Have you forgotten, who they are, Lily?" Ophelia retorted with a comforting smile.
"..."
Sylvia sighed with a smile on her face.
"Let’s sit back and trust them, Lily. We’ve witnessed firsthand, how ridiculously strong they’re, right?" she said relaxed.
"Fine..." Lily replied, still a little uneasy.
Ophelia also took a seat somewhere in their private cabin.
"You’re staying here?" Sylvia wondered.
"Just taking a short break here if you don’t mind." Ophelia responded with crossed arms.
Sylvia put the few pieces together in order to conclude that Ophelia was just keeping an eye on Lily so that she would not go outside.
Even though Mika did not really tell her, Sylvia understood that he still wanted to keep his powers a secret from Lily.
Lily and Ophelia began to indulge in a conversation.
In the meantime, Sara and Mika headed towards the two serpent-like monsters. Sara was riding her self-created wave, whereas Mika flew with his wings.
The sea serpents were huge dark blue snakes with a head that was resembling that of a dragon from picture books and tales. Their big mouths had sharp teeth and on top of their heads were two black goat-like horns, pointing to their backs.
These serpents were fortunately located far away from the actual ship. There was also a small island near them.
Then, they let out an ominous and vibrating roar, drowning the sound of thunder, as their open mouths faced the dark sky.
"Are they bigger than before?" Sara wondered, still behaving calmly.
"You must have thought so because you were still on the ship." Mika replied indifferently after he and Sara landed on the small island.
From afar, they have thought that these serpents were around two times the height of the ship but now that they were practically right in front of them, they realized that they were wrong.
"Get ready."
"Heh! Who do you think I am?"
The serpents, who were each as tall as the academy of Loogam, which in turn had at least six stories, lowered their big heads in the direction of Sara and Mika.
"?"
They spread their mouths wide open and water seemingly appeared in there and formed a ball.
Again, Mika spread his wings and Sara summoned a wave as the two were jumping to the sides.
And just like that, they managed to dodge the two serpents’ water roar, which resembled a beam. That roar completely wiped off the small island and split the sea for a moment before the water clashed against each other, causing wild waves.
[2 minutes and 30 seconds left.]
[I would recommend you to stop wasting time now.]
"Yeah."
Simultaneously, Sara and Mika headed towards the monsters.
Those high-ranking monsters were even more dangerous than the average high-ranking monster, putting the gorilla-like monsters to shame. And said monsters opened their mouth once more but this time, they intended to swallow the two whole.
"..."
Mika was unfazed by their incoming mouths and just lightly threw his spear inside the mouth of one of them despite knowing that his spear throw would not deal much pain to it.
On the other hand, Sara was again engulfing her sword in water, which then started to turn black. And when the serpent, which was targeting her, lowered his head quickly in her direction, Sara unleashed an enormous black waterslash upwards, hitting its belly. The vertical slash hit almost its entire visible belly, albeit shallowly.
"..."
Feeling unbothered, Mika created some distance from his serpent and coincidentally touched Sara’s back with his own back.
"What’s wrong? Feeling like running away?" Sara joked after she, too, created some distance from the monster.
"Not really. This battle is already decided, after all." Mika replied calmly.
"Hehe, that’s true!"
The serpents straightened their postures and appeared even taller as they looked down on the two. But the monster, Sara was dealing with, slowly started to notice that something was off as the shallow cut from back then started to spread itself and even got deeper.
Blood dripped from said wound and it started to groan in agony.
"No matter who it is, one slash is enough, huh?" Mika muttered slightly impressed.
[2 minutes and 13 seconds left.]
Mika saw enough and decided to end it, too.
Following that command, the other serpent also felt weird. However, compared to the other serpent, this one met its demise instantly without it even realizing it. In just the brink of a second, its whole body got bigger until it blew up, scattering its blood, flesh and crushed bones everywhere on the dark sea. And in place of that serpent was now the enlarged spear with a size surpassing that of the serpent by far.
"Wha..."
Even Sara was visibly impressed and shocked.
She did not even notice, how her prey died as it was torn in half due to her relic’s ability.
"I’m the winner, right?" Mika asked without showing any emotions.
With them being on the sea and with no one or anything around to worry about, Mika was allowed to not hold himself back.
"Amazing..." Sara muttered with wide-open eyes.
She instantly realized that if the two were to fight to the death, then she would not survive, no matter the outcome. It did not even matter if she managed to cut him. If that spear were to fall on her, then there would be no way for her to block or evade it.
"Let’s head back to the ship." Mika suggested.
"So this is what you’re capable of..."
"?"
Mika turned his head to her before he took flight.
He opened his mouth, on the brink of explaining to her that he had other abilities. And if he had told her that Excalibur could neutralize her relic, then he would have most likely worsened her mood.
Therefore, he shut his mouth again and flew back. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ
"..."
On her wave, Sara stared at Mika for a little while.
"You’re telling me that I’m sharing the same title as him...?" she murmured with a nervous smile.
The two were unofficially candidates for the Grand Order, however, she acknowledged that Mika was something else.
He was on the next level.
"I don’t know about Olivia or Elsa but I’m sure that he can beat the other members." she said.
She may have managed to kill the monster with one hit as well but in the end, the destructive power of Mika was on a level she never saw before.
If he was no Grand Order member, then she would not dare to identify herself as one either.
"..."
Rain landed straight on her face while she looked up.
"We have to make sure that he’s on our side, big Bro..." she stated with a firm expression before she headed back, too.
On board again, Mika undid his transformation and stretched his body lightly.
"And? How did it go?" Ophelia, who just came outside a cabin, asked with a smug smirk.
"The danger is awa- Ugh!" Mika replied.
"He completely humbled me!" Sara added with a slap to his back after she jumped on the deck.
"Is that so?" Ophelia huffed satisfiedly.
"Go and rest. We’re arriving early tomorrow." she added.
"Yes." the two replied at the same time.
Thus, the two headed to their cabins. freeweɓnovel.cøm
"..."
As the ship was passing by the area, where the two previously fought the serpents, the helmsman had a look of disgust and fear on his face. After all, the whole sea was reeking due to the scattered flesh and blood. And on top of that, the sight of a serpent, cut into two, was anything but pleasant.
"What kind of people are boarding this ship...?" he muttered anxiously.
After hours, the rain stopped and the dark clouds dispersed from the sky, allowing the sea to brighten up.
And as the sun began to rise on the horizon, the first people woke up. One of them was Mika.
"May I ask how long it will take until we arrive?"
"Y-yes!" the helmsman shrieked.
"?"
Mika was confused as to why he acted so scared. But little did he know that the helmsman remembered that he and Sara had taken down the monsters from last night.
"W-we will arrive shortly! Grat is already in sight!"
"T-thanks..." Mika said taken aback.
He headed to the forecastle deck.
And just like the helmsman said, Grat was on the horizon.
"Let’s see what will happen Grat." Mika muttered with a slight smile
