Chapter 172: Sword Training
"And? How was I?" Sara asked playfully.
"Amazing just like always." Yarjak responded monotonously.
Sara giggled, pretending that her brother was genuinely impressed by her taking down the monsters that were attacking them.
"This sword of yours..."
Belian approached her.
"Ah. You’re also wielding a relic, right?" she said.
He nodded his head once.
"My sword has the ability to melt anything it cuts." he explained briefly.
Then, he continued staring at her sword, which she wrapped in cloth again.
"..."
Mika, too, had some suspicions.
"I’m just borrowing this." Sara, who caught the hint, said with an innocent smile.
"?!"
Everyone raised their eyebrows and stared at her with wide-open eyes.
"It’s actually my mother, who is the original owner of this sword. Every wound inflicted by this sword will gradually worsen. For example, if I leave a small cut on someone’s neck, it will be only a matter of time until that person’s head falls off on its own, haha!"
"T-then, how is it possible for you to wield it?" Lily wondered, trying to ignore Sara’s cruel words.
"We still don’t know." Yarjak replied confused.
"I guess it took a liking to both me and my mother!" Sara joked.
"Well, only my mother is able to summon it directly out of thin air, whereas I have to actually carry it with me." she added.
"I see."
Belian came closer to her.
"May I ask for a spar with you? I’ve watched your movements and was very impressed by your swordsmanship." he suggested with his stern gaze.
"Sorry but-"
"Sure! I also wanted to cross swords with you the moment I saw your relic!" Sara cut her brother off.
"H-hey, Sara! You ju-"
"Mika!"
Again, Yarjak failed at finishing his phrase.
"?"
Mika turned his head to her.
"Last time we couldn’t finish what we started so how about doing it today?"
During the tournament week, the Tiam siblings wanted to spar with Mika and it ended up with Yarjak and Mika fighting against each other while Sara fell asleep.
"..."
Mika noticed something.
"We don’t have any training swords here, right? Then, I gue-"
"Hm? What are you talking about?" Belian and Sara asked at the same time.
The two showed off their swords, which were both emitting sinister auras.
"T-this is just a spar, I hope...?" Mika asked again with an anxious smile.
"Huh? Of course. I will just wrap my sword in cloth. Nothing should happen then." Sara said bluntly.
"And I will just attack with the blunt side. Nothing should happen then." Belian stated.
"..."
Mika began to sweat bullets.
"No-holds-barred! Every man for himself- Every woman for herself!" Sara declared full of energy after she jumped to the main deck’s center and pointed her sword at Belian and Mika.
[Side quest.]
"Please don’t do this to me..." Mika murmured despaired as he facepalmed himself.
[Fight for at least 5 minutes against Sara and Belian.]
"No matter what the reward is, I won’t do t-"
[Reward: You can copy something of your choice.]
"?"
[Punishment: You have to swim all the way to Grat.]
"H-hey, isn’t the punishment this time not a little too extreme...?"
[It will be arranged that you will get enough sleep necessary for a person.]
"Still..."
"Hey, Mika! Hurry up!" Sara shouted impatiently.
He was hesitating as he stared at the floating words.
"..."
Ophelia noticed his uneasiness.
"Could it be...?"
Thinking about it, she almost deducted correctly that he received a quest. However, she thought that it was a main quest.
"Come on. There’s no other option, is there?" she said with a smile as she slapped his back.
"W-w-wait! No matter how you look at it, those lunatics will kill me- Agh!"
Ophelia gave him one last push by kicking his butt, which sent him flying to the other two.
"You can do it!" Ophelia cheered him on, giving him a thumbs-up.
"..."
He stared at her dumbfoundedly before he faced his opponents.
"Let the fun begin!" Sara stated with a huge and excited smile.
She tapped her nape with her sword, disregarding its danger.
"I look forward to this match." Belian said politely, drawing his sword.
Mika sighed as he stood up.
"Okay, fine! I will do this!" he shouted reluctantly after he, too, took out his rusty sword.
Not only the white-class students but every other person on board came out and created a circle around them as they did not want to miss out on the match between them.
Sara Tiam, the sword prodigy.
Belian Ziva, the strongest first-year in Loogam.
And last but not least, Mika Elbar, the special student, who wiped the floor with the Maystra brothers.
Everyone, who watched the tournament, realized that this match was a must-watch.
"Everything’s allowed, correct?" Mika asked.
"Yes, as long as you don’t use your relic." Sara answered with a firm gaze and grin.
Ophelia, who seemingly acted as the referee, was about to signal the start.
"Now, fight!" she announced.
And then, Sara immediately headed toward Mika, whereas Belian was heading to Sara.
"Tch!"
Mika prepared his stance as the grinning Sara charged at him.
She retracted her arm and sword and once she was near him, she pierced the wooden floor and used her sword like a pole to jump over Mika, who was flabbergasted by this action.
She landed on the rails behind Mika and used it to launch herself to Mika like a spear with her arm being ready to swing the sword.
"Keh...!" Mika groaned exhaustedly while blocking the sword slash with his blade.
However, Mika got pushed back.
"..."
And emerging behind Mika was Belian, who was waiting for this moment.
He aimed to pierce her with his sword.
"!"
Belian, too, was surprised by her movements as she managed to bend her body midair, avoiding the attack.
She followed up by rotating herself in the air to get enough force to swing her sword from below at Belian, although he dodged in time by jumping back.
"..."
Still, it was a one-versus-one-versus one and Mika, who already recovered from the previous attack, got close to Belian with his sword pointing at the clear sky. freёwebnoѵel.com
The swords clashed and both sides tried to push their sword further to the opponent.
"Let me join you!" Sara shouted as she stormed excitedly to the two.
She jumped high and was about to hammer her sword down on them.
"..."
"..."
Belian and Mika exchanged a message just by looking each other in the eyes.
"?"
The two pulled back from each other when Sara got between them and proceeded to attack Sara from both sides.
Mika swung horizontally, whereas Belian attempted a thrust again.
"What?!" Mika gasped quietly.
Sara effortlessly did a split.
However, Belian did not let himself get distracted and went for another try.
"Hehe..." she giggled playfully.
"!" freewebnøvel.coɱ
In an instant, Belian changed to a defensive stance when he noticed a water blast coming from the side of the ship.
Using the moment of confusion, she rapidly got up and kicked Mika away.
"It seems like you forgot that magic is allowed." she mocked the two as she summoned water pillars from both sides of the ship.
Mika grinned nervously.
"This is indeed getting tricky..." he muttered.
Because her magic element is water, she had an advantage in a battle, where water was in the vicinity.
"..."
Belian appeared again and this time, his blade was ablaze.
And Mika, too, opted for using magic as he charged his blade with lightning.
"I will deal with you first." Sara stated confidently, looking at Mika.
She raised her left hand and pointed at Belian, which led to the dozens of water pillars to attack him in snake-like patterns.
"Tch." he clicked his tongue silently.
With him being occupied for the time being, Sara focused on Mika and straightly dashed towards him.
"Ugh!"
As if she had picked up her pace, she launched a barrage of sword swings at Mika, who was visibly troubled and pushed back by her.
"Got you!" she grinned.
With a strike to the hands, Mika’s sword was flicked into the air.
"Damn!"
Mika’s gaze was directed at his sword, which made him lose focus on Sara.
She, of course, took advantage of it and launched a ferocious kick, sending him off the ship.
"H-huh...?"
Mika looked at the water beneath him.
"!"
He noticed a shadow hovering above him.
"Too bad. You will be the first one to go down." Sara stated with a wide smile.
"Shit!"
Mika instinctively put up his arms but that effort was in vain.
Landing another kick on him, Mika crashed into the water, making the water splash high up.
"..."
Ophelia, who put up her hands over her head due to the falling water drops from the sea, checked on Mika, however, he was not on the surface.
"Don’t bother. He’s done for." Sara said after she landed on the ship again.
Her gaze was now directed at Belian, who was done with dealing with her water attacks.
"Well then..."
Ophelia did not sound convinced after she turned her head to the main deck again.
She knew that that was not enough to knock Mika out.
