Chapter 171: Sea Battle

It was the third day on the ship.

It did not take the others long to get accustomed to being on the ship and to resume their daily lives to a certain degree. While some of them spent their days napping or relaxing, others were either reading books, training their bodies and magic or just chatting with each other.

Mika was relaxing on a deck chair alongside Sylvia, Harik, Rachel and Ophelia, who was reading a book. A parasol was protecting them from the sun, making it comfortable enough for them to even take a short nap.

Meanwhile, a shirtless and sweaty Belian practiced some sword swings in front of them. Lily and Lisa were also engaged physically as they sparred together. And Yarjak was talking with the ship’s helmsman.

"..."

Sara, who passed by them, was smiling wryly at the sight of the white class. A while ago, she was talking with Mika about the people’s fear of the sea but now she was stunned again as it seemed like the entirety of the white class did not appear as scared as the other people, who were inside their rooms.

"When will we arrive in Grat, your Highness?" Rachel, who was bored from watching Belian train, asked.

"About a week, I guess? But anyways! I’ve already told you all that you can call me and my brother by our names!" Sara replied with a wide and playful smile.

"I-is that really fine with you...?" Harik, who woke up from his nap, wondered nervously.

"Of course!"

Rachel and Harik were a little bit taken aback by her manners, which did not fit her status.

"Just give up, guys. She won’t take a no as an answer." Mika commented with his eyes closed as he laid back on his chair.

"As long as you address them properly in the public, it should be fine to call them by their names." Ophelia, who calmly flipped a page in her book, added.

"Sure..." Harik responded weakly.

Rachel nodded her head confused.

"Hey, guys! What are you doing?" Lily asked.

She and Lisa were wiping their sweat away with towels as they approached the group.

"Nothing. Are you done with your training?" Rachel replied.

"We’re just taking a break." Lisa answered coolheaded.

The two were mainly sparring without the use of magic. Given that Lisa was more of a physical fighter, she was surprised by Lily, who was able to hold her own against her. Even though the time was short, Lily managed to learn a lot from Zhen back at the mansion.

"Well, now that most of you are here, how about I teach you some things about our nation?" Sara suggested excitedly.

"Hm, that’s a good idea." Ophelia agreed, closing her book.

"Hey, Belian!" Harik called him out.

While Belian came over to them with question marks popping over his head, Mika attempted to wake up Sylvia, who was sleeping beside him.

"As you’re about to spend the next months in Grat, it may be a good idea to know some things about Grat!" Sara said, now standing in front of everyone of the group.

Mika reached out his hand to Sylvia, attempting to pull her cheek but Sylvia grabbed his wrist beforehand without even opening her eyes. He let out a short painful groan but the others in the group did not pay attention to it.

Instead, the others were focused on Sara, who, in turn, started to get nervous.

"What should I start with...?" she muttered.

Then, Sara clasped her hands together.

"Ah, I-"

"Everyone, prepare for battle!" Yarjak announced vigorously from afar.

They flinched at that announcement as they turned their heads in the direction, Yarjak pointed his finger at.

Especially, Sara’s eyes sharpened.

"W-what’s going on...?"

"A-are we under attack...?!"

Former citizens of Loogam cautiously came outside after hearing Yarjak.

Nearing the ship was a grey and gigantic octopus-like monster, which was swarmed by sharks. Some of those sharks had each four bat-like wings and flew in the air.

"..."

Mika had a pensive look on his face as he was reminded of the tale, Sara told him.

"It’s not the monster from the tale." Sara stated after sighing disappointedly.

She turned to the normal noncombatants.

"Don’t worry! We have everything under control!" she declared.

Then, Yarjak joined them and handed Sara an item that was wrapped in white cloth.

"Those sharks are most likely middle or at best high-ranking monsters. Compared to them, that large octopus may be a much bigger problem." Yarjak explained.

Even though tamed monsters were used to protect the ship, they could not do a thing against flying enemies.

"Let’s quickly deal with them!" Lily said motivated.

The white class was in the front but other students also came and joined their side.

They were all ready to fight.

"?"

However, Belian and Sara stepped forward.

Whereas Sara unveiled her relic, Belian summoned his in his hand.

"Huh? Belian and Sara wield relics?" Mika murmured slightly surprised.

The first flying sharks headed towards them.

But the two in the front were unfazed as they pointed their black swords at them.

Belian’s sword was a long one-edged sword with a round cross-guard. Its edge was sharp but chirpy and grey in many spots. The grip was covered in grey bandages, which were loose on the end.

Sara’s claymore sword resembled an ordinary sword but with its quillons slightly bent forward. Furthermore, the sword alone was emitting an eerie aura.

"..."

Mika and some others prepared to step in as well but when they noticed how calm Harik, Rachel and Sylvia were, they ceased their attacks.

"Maybe we don’t even have to lift a finger." Sylvia stated, shrugging her shoulders.

"Yeah, them alone should be enough." Harik added with a light huff.

Those three took such an attitude because they witnessed first-hand what they were capable of. Especially paired with their relics.

"..."

Sara took a deep breath before she jumped off the ship.

She jumped right in front of one of the flying sharks.

It opened its mouth widely as it was about to eat her whole. However, Sara cut off its lower mouth swiftly and fell down, letting the shark fly by her.

Then, a shark emerged from the water and another shark came flying down to her. Still, she was capable of landing gently on the lower shark’s nose.

She lightly poked its nose and jumped off it, proceeding to leave a swallow cut on the upper shark’s belly. freёwebnoѵel.com

"Sara!"

Shouting her name, Yarjak threw a rope for her to grab on and pulled her back to the ship.

The three sharks she attacked were still alive and aggressively charged at the ship but the closer they were the bloodier the water around them got.

The first shark, whose lower mouth was cut, got its whole mouth cut off suddenly. The second one was split in half as if it was pierced by something and the third one fell apart in two halves.

In the meantime, Belian, who was on the bowsprit, cut through each attacking shark like they were butter and killed them immediately.

The smoke, emerging from the corpses’ sizzling wounds, started to engulf Belian’s area.

"Wow..." Mika remarked stunned.

Aside from those two, the tamed monsters took care of the battle underwater.

Thus, the others could only sit back and watch them take care of everything.

And then, the octopus let out a loud and angry screech.

"!"

Following that, smaller monsters of the same type as the octopus appeared at its side. Furthermore, because the ship was in its vicinity, the large octopus began to spread its dozens of lengthy arms on the ship, shaking it a little.

"Okay, now we should step-"

"I can handle this."

"I see."

Before Mika could take action, he noticed that Sara swapped spots with Belian.

"What’s she planning...?" he wondered.

Now, standing on the bowsprit, Sara lowered her lower body with a small squat. She took multiple deep breaths as she gathered water around her sword’s edge.

However, the water on the edge started to turn black.

The octopus tentacles were reaching towards her but she jumped up again just in time.

"..."

She had a grin on her face.

Everyone was looking at her in the air but her gaze was focused on the monsters.

She drew her sword in their direction and a wide black waterslash was shot at them. And after getting hit, the monsters bled lightly across their faces.

"And done~!" Sara announced cheerfully after she landed on the ship.

Those, who knew about her abilities moved away from the front as if nothing happened, whereas those, who did not know, tilted their heads.

[She could be a problematic opponent.]

"Hm?"

The monsters started to screech louder and more agonizing with each passing second. Even the tentacles on the ship began to pull back.

"..."

Mika squinted his eyes.

The wounds on the monsters gradually worsened until their faces completely fell off, coloring the water with their blood.

"Hehe!" Sara giggled proudly.

Once more, Sara proved her worth as the sword prodigy.
