Chapter 146: Current Feelings

"So? What were you girls talking about?" Ophelia asked them with a relaxed expression.

"Oh, we were just talking about Mika." Sara replied.

"Mika?"

Ophelia was confused.

However, Cindy, who was right beside Ophelia, had a wide grin on her face.

"I see..." she muttered in an eerie tone.

Her gaze wandered among the girls.

"Then, who is it from you? Who has a crush on Mika?" she asked with a smug smirk.

To everyone’s surprise, Ophelia flinched the most at Cindy’s statement.

"Wait, what? It’s you Op- Uwa!"

Ophelia clenched Cindy’s side, where she suffered a fatal injury. Thanks to proper treatment, it got healed but it still took some time until she was completely recovered.

"Just ignore what she just said." Ophelia ordered.

Her arms were crossed and her eyes closed, usually giving off a stern impression, however, the blushes on her cheeks busted her act.

"Even your own teacher...? Truly impressive, Mika..." Sara huffed quietly with a smile.

She looked at the other girls’ faces.

Rachel was gritting her teeth in frustration as she looked at Ophelia. Lily was fidgeting in her seat while she looked wildly around. And Sylvia remained unfazed.

Judging from those reactions, at least three people potentially held romantic feelings towards Mika.

"It will be a tough battle, big Bro..." Sara muttered again as she heaved a small sigh.

As her older brother, Yarjak Tiam, had his eyes on Lily, she wanted to discern what Lily was feeling or if she already had someone else in sight.

Now, it was clear to her.

It seemed like Lily was attracted to Mika.

But it did not necessarily mean that it was over for her brother. After all, other people were also after Mika as shown in the others’ reactions.

"Wow, didn’t expect that there were so many in love with him." Sara stated jokingly.

"Y-you got it all wrong. I’m his teacher." Ophelia still tried to sound serious.

"Just so you all know, I don’t intend to lose to any of you!" Rachel declared confidently.

"E-ehm, I-I..." Lily stuttered as she could not find the right words.

"Heh. This will be fun to watch." Sylvia commented.

"So you’re not participating, Sylvia?" Sara asked with a teasing smirk.

"Compared to the others, I know how to keep a poker face. Now, do you think that I also hold feelings of affection towards Mika?" Sylvia replied, returning a smirk.

"As I said, you’re wrong..." Ophelia tried to beat the allegations sheepishly.

"Must be nice to be so young..." Cindy said weakly while sweating as she held her waist.

"But I didn’t think that you of all people would take part in things like love..."

And yet, Cindy was still in a state to make mocking remarks at Ophelia.

"..."

"Ow!"

This time, Ophelia hit her on her head.

"Leaving Mika aside, how about talking about the time I was not here? What did you do in that duration?" Ophelia genuinely asked, smiling softly.

"Sure!"

Lily was the first one to respond vigorously as she, too, wanted to change topics.

Thus, they reminisced about the last two months.

Meanwhile, the boys had a good time.

They, too, talked about their experiences at the academy and what they did in the time they did not see each other, whereas Yarjak talked about Grat and what it was like to live there.

"..."

While the others chatted actively, Mika listened to them with joy.

They all knew what Mika was up to all the time, therefore there was no need for him to talk so much.

But besides Mika, Belian also was quiet, which was most likely due to his personality.

Still, Mika enjoyed this moment.

The sound of laughter and chitchat among friends echoed in his ears, making him realize that he was indeed a student, despite his own special circumstances.

At this moment, he could return back to being a normal boy.

"How about you two?"

"Hm?"

"?"

Yarjak stared at Belian and Mika with a mischievous smile.

"Weren’t you listening to us?" Yarjak asked disappointed.

Mika shifted his gaze to Gerard and Harik, who were embarrassed for a certain reason.

"You’re students, right? So that means that you have the chance to fool around from time to time, right? Right?"

He was leaning closer to Mika with beaming eyes.

"F-fooling around...?"

Mika was confused.

"H-he means girls..." Gerard elaborated with a reddening face.

"Huh?!"

Bewildered, Mika jumped out of his seat.

"Surely, there were some girls, am I correct? After all, you have many girls around you all the time!" Yarjak said.

Usually, Yarjak was a serious person, however, he surprisingly had a different personality whenever the topic changed to girls.

"T-t-there’s nothing for me to say..." Mika answered weakly.

But his cheeks were blushing, too.

"What about Rachel?" Harik said, just to tease Mika.

"Rachel? I thought you would make your moves on Lisa." Gerard added. freewёbnoνel.com

"Lily and Sylvia exist, too, you know?" Belian stated calmly.

"Huh? I just wanted to ask because you seemed so close to Ophelia." Yarjak, who was taken aback, said with wide-open eyes.

"..."

Mika was blushing harder and harder.

And he knew that he could not talk his way out of that.

"T-then, guys... Could you listen to me...?" he asked shyly.

"?"

It was at that moment when he remembered Yarjak confessing to Lily and the conversation afterward. Back then, he thought for the first time about the thing called love.

However, now, he had no clue how to find the right words or what he wanted to ask.

Everyone was looking at Mika confused, waiting for him to utter a word.

And then, he finally opened his mouth.

"What is love...?" Mika muttered, and yet it was audible to the others.

"Huh?" everyone gasped simultaneously.

"Rather than that... When do you know it is love...?" Mika fixed his previous question.

It was not the perfect question and if he had more time to think about it, he could have posed a better question. However, in the heat of the moment, these words were the only ones that came to mind.

"Pfft! Hahahaha!" Yarjak laughed.

"I’ve barely talked to girls so I don’t know..." Harik replied awkwardly.

"It never crossed my mind so I can’t answer as well..." Gerard responded with an apologetic smile.

"S-sorry for laughing! But I didn’t expect such a question!" Yarjak apologized while wiping his tears from his eyes.

"..."

Mika was grumbling internally.

"But there’s no definite answer to your question. It just happens, you know? You will know what I mean once that time comes for you, too." he explained while calming down.

"I don’t know if it was the answer I was searching for..." Mika remarked inaudible for them.

At the same time, Belian stood up and headed to the exit.

"Where are you going?" Gerard asked.

"You haven’t answered yet." Yarjak said, sounding surprised.

With one hand, Belian already opened the tent’s entrance, letting light into the tent.

"My heart already belongs to someone."

And with those words, he left.

"Ha, of course, he has someone." Harik said proudly.

"..."

However, Mika looked in the direction of the tent’s entrance.

To him, it did not seem like Belian wanted to show off. Rather, it sounded like he was reluctant to answer.

"Well, maybe we should go out, too. It’s kind of getting hot in here." Gerard suggested.

Thus, they all left the tent to get some air.

The sun was already setting.

"I guess, I have to go now." Yarjak stated indifferently, looking at the sky’s orange color.

"Then, I will go for a short jog before heading to bed." Harik stated.

They bid each other goodbye and went in different directions.

Only Mika and Gerard were left behind now.

"I will take my leave now, too." Gerard announced with a smile.

"Sure. I suppose I will go, too, then."

Mika was about to turn the other way.

"Mika."

"Hm?"

"Whenever you have time in the following days, come to me. There’s someone I wanted to introduce you to." Gerard stated firmly.

"Who is it?"

"That’s a secret."

He waved his hand as he walked in the other direction.

Mika heaved a sigh despite smiling.

Then, he headed to his tent.

"?"

But on his way, he noticed Lisa.

She was carrying two huge boxes.

"Let me help you."

"Mika?"

Without further ado, he took her boxes.

"Where are you headed to?" he asked.

"To the center of the shelter... They are ingredients for dinner..." she replied, slightly overwhelmed by his sudden appearance.

"Got it."

The two walked side to side.

"T-thanks for helping." Lisa said.

Her face was slightly red and she could not meet his eyes.

"No problem. I should rather offer my thanks to you for working so earnestly." Mika replied with a faint smile as he looked to the front.

"..."

Lisa smiled satisfied as she stared at the ground.

"But I hope it’s not you who makes the food, after all, the food you made for me in the tower was quiet-"

And the next thing he knew, Mika woke up in his tent with a swollen cheek.
