Chapter 81: Yours, Blaise

True enough to Damon’s word, he made sure I was stuck in his bedroom for the next few days. He didn’t allow me to set foot outside― there was never a need to. His bedroom came with an en-suite bathroom and every meal time, he would return with food and drinks. Even during the mid-afternoon, he would return with a hot drink like coffee or tea as a perk-me-up.

I found myself treated like a queen; Damon had done nearly everything to make my stay as pleasant and restful as possible. Short of massaging my feet with his bare hands, he made sure I lacked for nothing.

While it was a wonderful treatment to sit back and relax after everything, there was a growing unease that kept building in my chest. Tomorrow would mark the seventh day. Lydia would be waiting for me in House Regulus, yet I had no clue whether I would be able to make the meet-up.

I wasn’t even sure if she had made it there safely.

"Something came in the mail for you today."

There came the sound of a lock clicking in place as Damon entered the room right as he spoke. His footsteps padded across from where the door was to where I sat by the window, staring out aimlessly as I watched the men train beneath. It was already late afternoon and Elijah was now training the third set of warriors for the day now that Blaise was unavailable to conduct the sessions.

"Mail?" I echoed. My heart skipped a beat. Lydia couldn’t have possibly sent me anything, right?

I couldn’t catch any distinguishing scent from the small package Damon was holding onto― the days without intimacy with either of the brothers had slowly begun to diminish whatever werewolf qualities I had gained across the times I did. The boons were not permanent, sadly.

Damon threw the package across and I caught it easily in my hands. It was light and small, with nothing special about the packaging. However, when I flipped it over and took note of who the mail came from, I felt something warm bloom in my chest.

"He’s safely at the borders," Damon said, his tone surprisingly placid.

My fingers tore into the parcel, quickly ripping the seal off of it before reaching into the bag to pull out whatever was inside. I could feel a piece of paper — most likely a letter — and something thin and long. ƒreewebɳovel.com

"If you’re curious to know, there was a vampire camp found near the borders of Fangborne. Blaise got rid of them. He wasn’t injured, so you don’t have to worry about that," Damon continued, sitting on the edge of the bed as he watched me pull the item out.

It was a thin gold bracelet with three dainty moonstones in the center. When I moved them, there was a lovely blue sheen that shone from the stone.

"Here, allow me," he said.

Damon moved forward and took the bracelet from my hands, clasping it around my left wrist. The material was cool against my skin but Damon’s fingers, when they brushed against my wrist, were contrastingly hot to the touch.

"Thanks," I murmured before pulling my hand out of his hold and unraveling the letter that came with Blaise’s gift.

’I hope you’ve been well,’ it said. ’I heard about your progress with training. The moonstones will help with your affinity to your wolf. Let this strengthen you. Yours, Blaise.’

My eyes grew hot as tears gathered and pooled. I hadn’t thought much about it until I felt Damon’s thumb run over the skin under my eyes, wiping the tears that had fallen away from my face. At his touch, I jolted back as if I had been scalded, my gaze clashing with his as his hand remained frozen in surprise.

"I..." I swallowed the bile in my throat, gathering my emotions before I spoke again. "Thank you. For bringing the parcel."

"Don’t think too much about it," he grumbled under his breath, standing up to his full height. "Nicole will be dropping by in a short while to see if you’re ready to head back to training tomorrow."

"Tomorrow..." I bit my lip. Should I risk it and ask Damon?

I needed to get to House Regulus and thinking that I could escape without him noticing was a bold dream. If he could catch up with me so easily back then, there would be no way I could make it to House Regulus before Damon nabbed me back. And if he did...

I shuddered. I didn’t even wish to think of the consequences that would await me if I was caught breaking any of his rules again.

Not to mention, I didn’t even know how to get to House Regulus. Elijah had only pointed out the vague directions. It might be a sprawling field surrounding House Sirius but after the grounds of the packhouse, small neighborhoods make up the lands of Fangborne to house the other members of the pack.

It would be more than easy to lose my way.

"I’ve been obedient the last week," I said slowly, choosing my words carefully now that I was about to make a request for the first time.

Damon raised an eyebrow, a little thrown off guard that my tone had turned civil after a mere few days. He folded his arms across his chest as he watched me, scanning me from head to toe. When he couldn’t find anything out of the ordinary, he carefully asked, "What is it that you want?"

"What?" I pretended to be shocked, laughing nervously. "What makes you think that there’s something I’m after?"

He rolled his eyes. "You obviously want something, especially after mentioning your obedience for the past week. Out with it. Before I lose my patience."

I gulped, taking in a deep breath. It was now or never. Pissing off Damon would never work― he would just make sure I would never see the light of day ever again. Thus, the only way to get to her would be...

"I wish to visit House Regulus."
