Chapter 63: Chapter 33: Sister-in-law, Looking Forward to Meeting You Tonight

"What did you say? A new wedding?"

While eating breakfast, Jiang Li made a video call to Jing Shiyun.

They exchanged a few pleasantries first, and once the atmosphere was fairly congenial, she relayed Shen Yanzhi’s idea from yesterday to Jing Shiyun.

Jiang Li nodded emphatically, trying to persuade her. "Wasn’t our wedding too rushed back then? Ah Yan’s friends and family didn’t even come. Besides, that wedding was originally for me and Zhao Sinian. For the sake of harmony in my marriage with Ah Yan, we really need to have another ceremony."

Jing Shiyun thought about it and realized it was true. ’A last-minute groom swap, and even the wedding photos were Photoshopped. Shen Yanzhi must feel a little uncomfortable about it all.’

She tried to see it from his perspective; if it had been Jiang Li in that situation, her daughter would have certainly wanted a proper wedding of her own.

"Having another ceremony is fine, but our family and friends won’t be giving gifts again."

’Accepting gifts a second time would be a bit unreasonable.’

Jiang Li chuckled. "That’s what I was thinking, too. We’ll just invite them for a meal."

Jing Shiyun shook her head with a resigned sigh. "Alright. In that case, you and Xiao Shen should pick a time for our two families to meet and discuss the wedding arrangements."

’Even though she had the Shen Family’s contact information, this was a wedding they were planning. They should at least sit down and discuss it face to face.’

’Besides, since Jiang Li was telling her this, the Shen Family’s parents were presumably already aware of the plan.’

Seeing that Jing Shiyun agreed, Jiang Li rubbed the tip of her nose. "Ah Yan’s idea is to have it at our home tomorrow evening. He’ll cook, and both sets of parents can have a good talk about the wedding."

This was what she and Shen Yanzhi had discussed last night. It was also a good opportunity for her parents to come see their new home and learn the way.

Hearing they would be eating at home, Jing Shiyun subconsciously furrowed her brow.

’An occasion this formal should be at a restaurant or hotel. Eating at home just isn’t proper.’

Just then, Jiang Li finished eating, wiped her mouth, and walked out into the garden with her phone. "Even though it’s at home, it’s not a bit inferior to a hotel."

Noticing the change in background, Jing Shiyun asked suspiciously, "Is this your new home?"

"Yes," Jiang Li said, adjusting the camera. "This is the garden. Pretty, isn’t it?"

Jing Shiyun nodded in satisfaction. "It certainly is nice."

There isn’t a woman alive who doesn’t like flowers, no matter her age.

Seeing the brilliant clusters of blossoms made her spirit soar.

After panning the camera around, Jiang Li belatedly said, "I’m free right now, so let me give you a tour of our new home."

Jing Shiyun had originally thought it would only take a few minutes, but an hour later, they weren’t even halfway through the tour.

The video call only ended because Zhong Mufeng called Jiang Li. Otherwise, the tour probably would have taken another hour or two, or even longer.

The moment the call connected, Zhong Mufeng’s frantic voice came through. "Babe, are you free right now?"

Jiang Li put the call on speaker and set her phone aside. "If you need something, just say it."

"I desperately need your help right now!"

"The model we booked had to cancel at the last minute, so you’re the only one who can save me."

Jiang Li had been about to go back to bed for a nap, but at these words, she immediately turned around and changed into a different outfit. "You should be glad I’m not working right now. Otherwise, I’d really be willing but unable to help."

Zhong Mufeng grinned. "That’s why I applied for the highest hourly rate for you: 1,000 yuan an hour."

Jiang Li teased, "Wow! As expected of Director Zhong, you really go all out."

Zhong Mufeng ignored Jiang Li’s teasing. "Just get over here, quick! It’s a code red emergency!"

"Coming, coming, stop rushing me," Jiang Li said, grabbing her bag and heading out the door.

After hanging up, she sent a message to Xie Wan, telling her to wait in the underground parking garage.

Zhong Mufeng called twice more to hurry them along. To make up time, Xie Wan floored it, pushing the car to 180 as she sped toward the venue, arriving in about twenty minutes.

When they arrived, Zhong Mufeng had no time for pleasantries. She grabbed Jiang Li, pulled her toward the dressing room, and told an assistant to help her change while she went back out to manage things.

Jiang Li was like a Barbie doll, waiting for others to dress her up.

Once her clothes were changed and her makeup was done, the assistant spoke into her headset, "Sister Qing, she’s ready."

Zhong Mufeng’s frayed nerves finally relaxed. "Okay, just make sure she comes out at the right time."

Looking at herself in the mirror, a flash of astonishment crossed Jiang Li’s eyes.

’No wonder they say clothes make the man.’

’Change your clothes, put on some makeup, and you’re a total goddess.’

’Even she was falling in love with herself.’

She wore a pale yellow ball gown with a strapless, backless design that revealed her elegant collarbones. A flowing sash tied at her waist added a playful touch, and a circlet of dried flowers in her hair made her look like a sprite who had wandered out of a deep forest.
