Chapter 41: Chapter 25: Cousin Jing Jichuan, a Meal for 120,000
"My family is very tight-lipped. If you hadn’t said anything, there’s no way Guo Yao would know about this."
Zhong Mufeng quickly raised her hand and swore, "Don’t worry, my lips are absolutely sealed. I won’t say a single word, and I definitely won’t let Guo Yao find out."
Seeing the two whispering to each other, Zheng Qi said with envy, "You two are so close."
Zhong Mufeng chuckled, wrapping her arm around Jiang Li’s neck. "What can I say? She’s my one and only bestie."
’And she’s a super-rich bestie, too. How could we not be close?’
Jiang Li just smiled without saying anything, but she agreed with Zhong Mufeng’s sentiment.
So after they had eaten and drunk their fill, she elegantly wiped her mouth and asked nonchalantly, "Want to get this meal for free?"
Zhong Mufeng gave her a look that said ’Is that even a question?’ "Of course I do!"
Jiang Li pushed up a pair of imaginary glasses on her nose. "In that case, it’s time for me to show off."
Zhong Mufeng looked at her suspiciously. "Don’t tell me you were gone for so long because you bought the restaurant?"
Jiang Li snapped her fingers. "Congratulations, you guessed right. Your reward is free meals at the International Trade Restaurant for life."
Zhong Mufeng’s face was a mask of disbelief. "For life?"
’Average bill of 100,000 per person... What does free for life even mean?’
’She must have hit the karmic jackpot to be Jiang Li’s best friend.’
Jiang Li gave Zhong Mufeng a reassuring look, took out her phone, and tapped away at the screen. Finally, she put her phone down, reached out, and gently patted Zhong Mufeng’s shoulder. "Just wait."
Zhong Mufeng threw her arms around Jiang Li’s waist and nuzzled against her. "Li, what would I ever do without you! Who else would ever spoil me like you do!"
Jiang Li reached out and poked Zhong Mufeng on the head. "Why would you have to leave?"
Zhong Mufeng pouted. "What if I end up dating someone from out of town? I’d have to move away then."
Jiang Li gave her a mischievous grin. "That’s easy. Just marry my cousin."
Zhong Mufeng crossed her arms over her chest. "Forget it. Your cousin is six years younger than me. I can’t bring myself to do it."
"Besides, I’m not into relationships with younger guys. I don’t want to spend time waiting for a boy to grow up. It’s too exhausting."
She’d dated a younger guy before, and they were always fighting. It left her completely drained, so they eventually broke up.
Jiang Li raised an eyebrow. "So my cousin isn’t your type?"
Zhong Mufeng suddenly recalled a figure in white from the wedding. To be fair, Jing Jichuan was exactly her aesthetic.
If he weren’t younger than her, she would have actually considered Jiang Li’s suggestion.
Zhong Mufeng shook her head. "Forget it. I’m not going to mess with your cousin."
She sat up from Jiang Li’s embrace and said seriously, "If it works out, great. But if it doesn’t, I’m afraid it would affect our friendship."
Jiang Li pressed, "What if we could guarantee it wouldn’t affect our friendship? Would you be willing to give it a try then?"
Zhong Mufeng didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "Li, what’s gotten into you today?"
’What else could it be? Obviously, Jing Jichuan has taken a liking to Zhong Mufeng and wants me to set them up.’
She cleared her throat twice. "How about this? You two can exchange contact info. Just think of it as giving each other a chance."
Zhong Mufeng found it a little funny, but she accepted Jiang Li’s suggestion.
’It’s just one more contact in my list. And who knows, maybe I’ll get to appreciate a nice young body from time to time. What’s not to like?’
’The main thing is, Jing Jichuan’s looks really did it for her.’
Jiang Li had just sent Zhong Mufeng’s contact info over when she heard someone ask, "Hey everyone, has everybody finished eating?"
"Yeah, we’re done! We can move on to the next thing."
"We didn’t even drink. This wasn’t any fun at all."
"Looks like everyone’s finished. There’s barely any food left on the tables."
The man who had asked spoke up again. "We agreed to split the bill earlier. Since everyone’s finished, let’s start paying up."
With that, he took out his phone, logged into a mini-program to check the bill, then opened the calculator. "The total is 5.63 million. There are 46 of us, so that’s 122,391.3 per person."
To make it easier for everyone to see, he even placed his phone on the lazy Susan. "You guys can take a look at the bill."
Zhong Mufeng couldn’t help but swallow. Thank goodness Jiang Li was the owner of the restaurant now and she wouldn’t have to pay. Otherwise, there was no way she could have afforded this.
A single meal for over 120,000... that’s an astronomical price.
The service was attentive, and the staff’s attitude was professional.
But other than the luxurious decor and the incredible food, there was nothing particularly special about it.
’So what kind of people actually eat here?!’
