"100!" Bai Xue Yao glared at Tian Lan, but the moment her eyes met hers, she quickly softened her gaze.
"If I give you 100 cores, I won’t have that much left." Xue Yao muttered under her breath, crying inwardly.
Tian Lan frowned. She put her hands on her waist. [You have more than 500 beast cores, and you are still stingy about giving just 100 of them.] Her eyes darkened slightly. At that moment, what Xue Yao saw was a devil with two horns and a black cape laughing ominously with both hands spread wide across the air.
Xue Yao shook her hand. Her hands balled into fists. She realized she had to grow stronger and suppress this unfair system.
"My hard work!" Xue Yao pouted as she hugged the beast cores. "I’ll miss you." She wiped off an imaginary tear.
"Fine, you can have it." Xue Yao said half heartedly...
She was barely able to finish her sentence before Tian Lan flew towards the beast cores. She opened her mouth and began sucking in the beast cores. Before they reached her lips, they dissolved into blue energy.
Xue Yao’s mouth fell wide open... Yes, just like that, the hundred cores were gone. ’Is she a vacuum or what?’
Tian Lan belched after swallowing the last core’s energy. A pale blue aura burst from her body, then a frown settled on her face.
[It wasn’t even enough for me to break through...]
"No more for you." Xue Yao cut in before she could finish her words.
Tian Lan rolled her eyes. [Level 1 beast cores are no longer able to help me.] She replied in a demure tone.
Xue Yao let out a sigh of relief. "I suppose that is good news." She paused. "By the way, I want to upgrade my strength and my ability too."
But before Tian Lan could answer, a noise came from the outside world, and before Xue Yao could figure out what it was, Tian Lan snapped her finger, and in the next second, Xue Yao was back in prison again.
She wriggled her nose as the unpleasant smell hit her.
Just then, a figure appeared in front of the prison door. A huge male wolf with black ears and a black tail stood before her. His chest was covered by little more than a few strips of leather. But the scars over his body were deep and angry. Slowly, Xue Yao’s gaze rose to meet a pair of cold blue eyes.
"You are the new breeder?" His deep, hoarse voice made every hair on the back of her neck stand on end.
Xue Yao’s throat immediately went dry. His aura was even heavier than that of the white wolf, and her heart pounded in her ears, and it almost felt as if her blood were flowing backward.
"I’m not a breeder." She managed to say, although it lacked every ounce of confidence. She couldn’t manage to catch the full view of his face as his long black hair covered most of them.
Her body immediately shut down when she felt his death glare. His jaw was as ice cold as his eyes, as if it were carved from ice itself. "Then remain here," He said with a final tone.
His cold eyes seized her up and down before turning around and leaving.
The moment his body disappeared from view. Bai Xue Yao’s knees buckled, and she fell on the floor. Cold sweat trickled down her temple. The encounter lasted no more than a few minutes, yet she was left shaking like a leaf before the wind.
"I need to escape from here." She muttered under her breath.
The goosebumps from the encounter still lingered over her. ’Who the heck was that? I can’t remain here... I definitely can’t remain here.’
"Tian Lan, show me the weapons I have." She said in panic, her fingers shivering.
Tian Lan materialised before her and opened a blue screen in front of her.
Tian Lan frowned as she glanced at the spot where the male wolf had been standing a moment ago. [An SS wolf beast at the bottleneck of his cultivation.] She counted on her fingers, and her eyes immediately widened. [He will soon ascend to be an SSS-level beast.]
Xue Yao almost lost her breath. She shook her head as she couldn’t believe how she ended up here. ’I should escape and find my way back home... but why can’t I remember the way back home, falling asleep here doesn’t work... no, I need to get away from this terrible place...’ She panicked as she swiped across the screen, looking for any weapon that could teleport her out of there.
Her fingers halted at a yellow rectangular paper with red writing on it. "Shadow escape Talisman." Her eyes immediately lit up. "I can escape with this."
Tian Lan sighed, her eyes calculating as she stared at Xue Yao. [I’m afraid you cannot escape.]
"Why?"
[Because that is an SS beast, and the talisman can only teleport you through 500 miles. That is not enough of a chance for an escape from these beasts. And besides, you need to get Honghong.]
Xue Yao watched as her hope crumbled before her. However, she clutched her fist. "It doesn’t matter. I’ll get Honghong and leave this place. Even if there is a little percent chance of success... I’d rather die trying than sit here and wait for impending doom."
