Chapter 79: Chapter 77: You Still Think You Can Run From Me?
He scrambled to his feet, looking wretched. A large hole had been blown through his body, and the hand he’d tried to use for a sneak attack had been cleanly severed by a flying sword. A shadow fell over his eyes.
The moment the Black Sword struck him, he felt as though he had been touched by a terrifyingly immense power. He even had the faint sensation that he was about to die.
If not for his Sequence, which kept him alive even on the brink of being reduced to a pulp, he likely would have been hacked to death by that single strike.
This was incomprehensible to him. The aura his opponent was emitting was clearly that of a common Tier Four, not even a Tier Four Peak.
Most importantly, the Corpse High Priest could clearly sense that his opponent wasn’t even using his full strength. There were multiple accounts of this mysterious expert within the Spiritual Sect, but they all shared one common detail: the use of a giant, white longsword.
But now, he hadn’t seen the longsword, let alone even a hint of a white sword technique. This made the Corpse High Priest’s expression darken further.
’He isn’t even using his full strength, yet I have this feeling that I can’t hold on. What kind of monstrous power is this?!’
’Fortunately... I got a space marker from the Space division before I came. Otherwise, I would have been dead for sure this time.’
The thought of the space marker gave the Corpse High Priest some confidence. ’Since I can’t die,’ he thought, ’I’ll risk everything to avenge my son!’
Just as the Corpse High Priest was thinking this, the sound of steady footsteps emerged from the gray cloud of dust before him. Su Xing walked out, seemingly unharmed. He gave the Corpse High Priest a slightly surprised look, then nodded.
"Let’s see just how many of my strikes you can take!"
With that, Su Xing stomped down hard. The concrete shattered and rubble flew as a massive crater formed, nearly spanning the entire width of the main road.
He shot forward in an instant, like a supersonic jet!
"You think you can kill me? I’m a Tier Four Peak!"
Once the Corpse High Priest realized he wouldn’t die, a fierce light flashed in his eyes. He thrust a palm toward the approaching Su Xing and his violent aura, detonating the air around them with a terrifying sonic boom!
BOOM!
The Corpse High Priest was sent flying back by another sword strike. A dense web of cracks spread across his body, deep enough to reveal bone and viscera. He looked to be on the verge of death.
But instead of retreating, he charged forward, rushing recklessly toward Su Xing.
Forced into close-quarters combat, Su Xing couldn’t use his grand, sweeping sword techniques. He had to rely on close-quarters bladework with his Black Sword and Sparrow Sword, turning the fight into an exceptionally bloody and violent exchange.
ZING! CLANG! BOOM!
A cacophony of sword strikes, slashes, and impacts erupted. The two figures blurred across the ground, smashing into each other like a pair of rampaging missiles. The air around them was constantly torn apart and blasted open, sending turbulent shockwaves out in all directions!
From time to time, space itself would let out a subtle CRACK, only to mend itself at a speed imperceptible to the naked eye.
It was an almost completely one-sided beatdown.
Su Xing completely overwhelmed the Corpse High Priest, hacking at him relentlessly. But the High Priest, relying on his death-defying spirit and his incredibly resilient body, stubbornly continued the frantic struggle.
The sounds of their battle faintly reached the civilians hiding underground. Fear was etched on every face; they had no idea what was happening on the surface.
Nearby, Lu Anning had retreated again and again to avoid the epicenter of the battle. Now, from a safe distance, she stared dumbfounded at the unbelievable combat between Su Xing and the Corpse High Priest.
She knew Coach Su was incredibly strong, but the last time she’d seen him fight—against the fake Liu Shiyu—he had won with a single strike.
Because of that, Lu Anning couldn’t truly comprehend the extent of Coach Su’s power. She couldn’t imagine just how strong he really was.
But this time, she saw it all too clearly. Especially now that she could perform the White Line Slash herself, she had a much deeper appreciation for this level of power. It made her scalp tingle, and she couldn’t help but mutter...
"This is just unfairly strong."
Lu Anning watched the battlefield in shock. It was difficult for her to follow the full exchange with her naked eye.
All she could see were countless afterimages slamming into each other on the road, creating an indescribable, piercing cacophony of explosions.
Most of the attacks were Coach Su’s. For every dozen or so of his strikes, the Corpse High Priest might find a single opportunity to counter, only to be interrupted by an attack from a Sparrow Sword.
Meanwhile, more and more sword wounds appeared on the Corpse High Priest’s body. Many parts of him had been hacked into a bloody pulp, and the parts that remained were covered in gashes. It seemed he would be utterly defeated at any moment.
She knew this fight had started because she’d come to pick up her mother. This filled her with a sense of admiration for the powerful Coach Su. ’One day,’ she thought...
’I’ll be as strong as Coach Su one day!’
"Get off me!"
Seeing his opponent sticking to him like glue and even daring to think of counterattacking, a ruthless expression flashed across Su Xing’s face.
He kicked the Corpse High Priest’s chest with savage force. The torso, already hacked to a pulp, exploded outward, splattering onto the ground as a paste of gore. His head and limbs were sent scattering.
Acting on Su Xing’s will, the Sparrow Sword shot forward, aiming to turn the Corpse High Priest’s head into paste.
But just then, a pale blue Sequence Energy Mark materialized, encasing his entire head. The Sparrow Sword struck it as if hitting a steel plate. With a loud CLANG, the blade was deflected.
’Damn it! Space Sequence! He’s trying to escape!’
He and Su Yu had done a crash course on the various Sequences, so he immediately recognized its characteristics. Su Xing’s pupils contracted. He stomped his right foot and shot forward.
"Boy, you can’t stop me from escaping unless you can tear space itself."
The Corpse High Priest’s voice became hoarse and strange. He looked at Su Xing mockingly, as if wanting to watch his final, futile struggle.
"Who the fuck said you could run?!"
Su Xing roared. Gripping the Black Sword with both hands, he unleashed a piercing thrust straight at the head locked by the space marker!
With a deafening BOOM, a large section of the ground collapsed. Amidst the swirling dust, a sharp CRACK echoed, and the Corpse High Priest’s expression changed drastically. He said in a grave voice:
"How the fuck is that possible?!"
"Only a Tier Five can tear space!"
He stared in disbelief at the scene before him, his mind reeling.
In his experience, the most talented Tier Four was a genius known as Beng Huai. Yet even at Tier Four Peak, Beng Huai had only touched the threshold of tearing space; he had never actually done it.
’But this guy... This guy isn’t even at Tier Four Peak!!!’
’He! He! He actually did it...’
The Corpse High Priest’s thoughts came to an abrupt halt. Su Xing’s Black Sword had pierced straight through his skull. At the same time, the Sparrow Swords descended like a swarm of locusts, instantly shredding his head into a bloody pulp.
The space marker above his head spiderwebbed with cracks before shattering completely.
Su Xing’s thrust had torn a visible fissure in the space just below where the Corpse High Priest’s head had been. Through it, Su Xing could see a void of absolute nothingness.
Su Xing only managed a single glance before a wave of energy sealed the fissure, as if it had never been there at all.
Su Xing stood stunned for a moment, then slowly straightened up and took a deep breath.
"Trying to fucking run from me after all that!"
