Chapter 54: Chapter 54: One Sword to Finish You
Upon seeing Su Xing, the skin on the man’s rotting face twitched, flaking off to reveal the blackish-red flesh beneath. A faint green Sequence Power slowly materialized beside him, exuding an uncanny, chilling aura.
The man was like a cobra lying in wait, instantly snapping into a predatory state the moment it spotted its prey.
His eyes darted up and down twice before locking onto Su Xing, who was walking steadily in his direction.
’Stronger than a Spiritualist Priest.’
The moment the man’s gaze fell upon him, Su Xing felt as if a venomous snake had fixed its eyes on him.
Goosebumps prickled his skin, but they vanished just as quickly. With a single glance, he located the man hiding in the alley.
Half of the man’s head was visible, his lips twisted into a disdainful and aggressive smirk.
Their gazes met for a split second before darting away. Su Xing lowered his head, slipped into the crowd, and broke into a jog. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
’This place is too open, and there are far too many civilians. It’s no good for a fight.’
Su Xing knew the man had locked onto him. There was no need to go looking for him—he would come to Su Xing. All Su Xing had to do was find a suitable battlefield and wait.
The moment Su Xing made his move, the man yanked the white hood of his Spiritual Sect robes over his face. He lunged forward with his right foot, launching himself like an arrow from a bow. A shockwave of air erupted from his step as he hurtled after Su Xing.
"Are you fucking blind?!"
A middle-aged man was walking to the hospital, his attention on his phone. He suddenly felt a rush of wind behind him and instinctively leaped forward, assuming a car had run a red light and nearly hit him.
His expression darkened. He spun around to yell, only to find it wasn’t a car that had run a red light—it was a person.
’What the hell?!’
Hearing someone dare to curse him, the rotting man pursuing Su Xing broke into a wild, savage grin and sneered,
"Keep your mouth shut in your next life, you old bastard."
Before the middle-aged man could react, he grabbed his head and kept running. The man’s neck stretched, and his entire spine was torn clean out of his body!
Blood instantly erupted, painting the street crimson.
The sudden violence stunned onlookers for a moment before they erupted into blood-curdling screams. The crowd descended into chaos, people shrieking as they scattered in every direction.
Some of the more timid people collapsed, their legs giving out from under them. They could only stare in disbelief at the headless body of the middle-aged man lying in the middle of the road, still gushing blood.
"Son of a bitch."
Su Xing cursed. He hadn’t expected someone from the Spiritual Sect to commit murder in broad daylight. This was completely out of character; they usually operated in the shadows!
’This is bound to attract the attention of special organizations. I have to end this, fast!’
Amid the chaos, Su Xing unleashed his full strength. He stomped his right foot, blasting a crater into the ground.
He became a streak of white light, darting into a nearby alley. Barely two breaths later, the man reached the alley and charged in after him. He was moving so fast that he sent a roadside trash can flying into the air, only for it to come crashing down.
As the trash can clattered to the ground,
Su Xing and the man stood face to face for the first time. The man gave Su Xing a slightly surprised look, a smirk playing on his lips as he spoke.
"Judging by that kick... you’re the mysterious master, aren’t you?"
Su Xing narrowed his eyes, his expression unreadable. He turned his right hand palm-up, and motes of faint black light coalesced into a Black Sword. It radiated a bone-chilling aura as he spoke, his voice icy.
"And what if I am?"
"Heh. Before I received this Sequence from the High Priest, I was just a lowly Assistant Priest. Nobody knew my name. But your moniker, ’mysterious master,’ is legendary. Practically everyone in the Spiritual Sect has heard of you. It made me quite jealous, you know."
"Now, allow me to introduce myself. I am the Corpse Assistant Priest, a newly-minted fourth-rank Sequencer. And, of course, the one who is going to take your life!"
The words had barely left his mouth when the Corpse Assistant Priest kicked the nearby trash can, sending it hurtling toward Su Xing. Garbage flew through the air, and a vile stench filled the space between them.
The Corpse Assistant Priest, however, seemed completely unaffected by the smell. Using the flying trash to obscure Su Xing’s vision, he shaped his right hand into a blade and slashed at where Su Xing had been standing.
As he struck, his palm glowed with a highly corrosive Sequence Power, causing wisps of white smoke to rise from the air itself.
A faint, strange sizzling could be heard, like acid dripping on wood. The HISS was enough to set one’s teeth on edge.

The Black Sword in Su Xing’s hand flared with white light. In an instant, all the garbage before him was atomized, and his blade met the Corpse Assistant Priest’s hand-chop head-on!
HUMMM!
The resounding clash sent the Corpse Assistant Priest stumbling back four or five steps. He quickly hid his right hand behind his back. Half of the palm was gone. The searing pain made his entire arm tremble, and his face was pale as he stared in disbelief at the perfectly calm Su Xing.
’What the hell kind of power is this?!’
His expression grew grim as he stared at the edge of Su Xing’s Black Sword, which shone like the bright moon.
The intense pain in his right palm made cold sweat break out on his forehead. He had to admit that in his excitement over his new fourth-rank powers, he had underestimated the ’mysterious master.’ He never should have met a sword head-on with his bare hand. It was a foolish gamble.
’But... the mysterious master’s sword should have been damaged, too.’
He was well aware of how potent his corrosive ability was. A single touch could completely dissolve a third-rank Sequencer’s flesh into nothing. Therefore... if he could just dissolve the mysterious master’s sword, his chances of victory would skyrocket.
However, when he looked at Su Xing, he saw that while the Black Sword was indeed emitting wisps of white smoke, it showed no sign of dissolving whatsoever. It was as if his Sequence was utterly powerless against the mysterious master’s blade.
He froze. His pupils constricted in utter disbelief.
For the Corpse Assistant Priest,
this was more terrifying than losing his hand.
Because... it meant his prized fourth-rank Sequence couldn’t even touch Su Xing. His confidence, his arrogance—it was all just a joke to the man standing before him. He roared in bitter frustration,
"You son of a..."
Su Xing, standing a short distance away, seemed to sense his faltering confidence. He took a step forward, then another. The Corpse Assistant Priest couldn’t help but retreat, but then, disgusted by his own cowardice, he immediately lunged forward again. He was about to shout in fury when he heard Su Xing’s ice-cold voice.
"Time’s running out. One strike should be enough to finish you."
