Chapter 102: Chapter 95: Clue
Half an hour later, outside the school.
Su Xing rode an electric scooter to a pitch-black alley outside the school, a place where drunks often loitered.
The drunks were startled by his scooter’s headlight. Upon seeing Su Xing’s solid build, they all scrambled to leave the alley.
Su Xing parked the scooter, swung his right leg over to dismount, and stood there waiting for Su Yu to arrive.
He had used the delivery guy’s phone to contact Su Yu and arrange this meeting. But it seemed Su Yu had been delayed and wasn’t here yet.
After a wait of ten-odd minutes, Su Yu finally rushed into the alley beside the school.
"I’m late."
Su Yu glanced left and right. Seeing no one else, he walked over to Su Xing and took a deep breath.
"How is it? Any leads?"
Su Xing had gunned the scooter on the way over, and the evening wind blasting his face had successfully cooled his fury. He watched Su Yu arrive and asked his question.
Su Yu caught his breath first, then straightened up and said,
"We still don’t know the exact location where Lu Anning was taken, but the police found some clues when they reviewed the security footage."
With that, he handed his phone to Su Xing and said,
"The police are much better at tracking people down than we are, so we’ve left the search to them. This is what they found in the footage."
Su Xing took the phone and saw a video playing on the screen.
A van with no license plate blew past the school security guards’ warnings and plowed onto campus, injuring several students. Then, they forcibly abducted Lu Anning and all the students near her.
As the video played, Su Xing’s eyes darkened once more, and the very air in the alley seemed to grow heavy and oppressive.
But Su Xing was puzzled...
’At least, the video showed no sign of any Extraordinary power. So why didn’t Lu Anning fight back?’
’Did she see something inside the van?’
’Or maybe sense something?’
"Besides the video, the police used the van’s specific details to find its last known location and its owner."
Su Yu swiped the screen as he spoke, bringing up a photo. The van was parked next to a high-end club, the image now filling Su Xing’s view.
There was also a picture of a portly, large-eared man standing beside the van with a group of his lackeys.
"See, big brother? This is why I told you not to rush things. People who make such simple mistakes could never be from the Spiritual Sect."
"They’re just a gang of desperate criminals who’d do anything for a payday. This’ll probably be over quickly."
Su Yu waited for Su Xing to finish, then took back the phone, shaking his head as he spoke.
But Su Xing just sighed and told Su Yu the truth: Lu Anning was already Tier Two. Su Yu first gasped in shock.
Then, his expression grew grim as he realized the implication of what his brother was saying.
A Tier Two Martial Artist...
...could never be kidnapped by a group of ordinary people.
"Now that they’ve found the van, has the organization taken any action?"
Su Xing asked, seeing his younger brother’s expression turn serious. Su Yu, however, just shook his head and said,
"Most people in the organization think this is just a run-of-the-mill kidnapping. So, it went through official channels and was handed over to the police."
"Because of Lu Anning’s special status, Senior Li Yu was concerned and assigned a Sequencer team and Liu Chang to assist the police. But the police are still running the show."
"Liu Chang is operating solo right now. The Sequencer team is probably forming up with the police to arrest the suspects."
"Or... I could contact the organization right now, make them take this seriously, and take the lead back from the police..."
Su Yu was mid-sentence when he saw Su Xing shake his head. "No need for that," Su Xing said. "Changing the plan now would take too much time. I’ll go to that club myself."
"Once I’ve got this guy, I’ll find out what they’re really up to."
...
「In a room in a high-end club in northern Cang City.」
On a spacious, king-sized bed, the portly, large-eared man lay spread-eagled in the middle. On either side of him lay a soft, fair-skinned woman, cooing saccharine calls of "Master."
He was overjoyed after pulling off the job. This client had been extremely generous—enough for him and his crew to live without taking any more risks for at least a few years.
Storming the school had been a bit conspicuous, but for that kind of money, it was worth it. If things went south, he could always flee the country. Worst case, he’d do a few years in prison.
So, with the mindset of the newly rich, he had come straight to this club and ordered the two most expensive women. Aided by some performance enhancers, he engaged in a wild romp before finally drifting into a heavy sleep.
If all went according to plan, he would sleep until at least noon the next day. Then, he would take a boat to be smuggled into the neighboring Sun Country, and from there, find a flight to the Free Country.
However, the unexpected came swiftly.
The phone on the nightstand suddenly rang. It was the club’s internal line, which only rang when the staff needed to contact a guest.
Though annoyed, he picked it up with a grumble.
"Yeah, what’s up?!"
"Hello, is this Mr. Lin? Ah, yes. You see, you’re our 100,000th guest to book a room, so the club would like to give you a small gift. Someone will be knocking on your door shortly. We’ll just need you to sign for it."
He squinted at the phone’s screen. It was indeed the club’s number. He replied casually,
"Fine, fine. Just make it quick. I’m dead tired."
"Of course, sir. I’ll have someone bring it over right away."
This club was known for its excellent service; they wouldn’t normally disturb a guest who had ordered company for the night.
But he was so exhausted that he didn’t give it a second thought. All he wanted was to get the gift and go back to sleep.
...
「Meanwhile.」
The young receptionist hung up the phone, glanced timidly at Su Yu and Su Xing standing before her, and said,
"Officers, you can go up now."
That’s right. The moment he’d arrived, Su Yu had flashed his special organization credentials, compelling the receptionist to cooperate with their investigation.
First, they had confirmed the man was indeed a guest. Then, they had the young receptionist make the call.
After the receptionist hung up, Su Xing walked into the club without hesitation. He took two steps, then glanced back at Su Yu and said quietly,
"No minors allowed. You stay here and wait for me."
