Chapter 525: Chapter 394: The Snow Tiger Witch’s Inadvertent Wisdom (Part 2)
"Otherwise, would you believe me based on my word alone?"
For some reason, as he spoke, the Snow Tiger Witch managed to convince himself. He truly felt as if he were looking out for his three old friends and even pouted with a sense of grievance.
"I’m looking out for you, and yet you don’t believe me..."
The three witches looked at their old friend, patting him on the shoulder. "We really didn’t expect you to be thinking so far ahead."
"That’s right. No wonder you gave Crystal Cores to the Scorpion Tribe and the Yan Yan Tribe even though you already traded for salt. You were saving the opportunity to go trade for salt with the Sea Side Tribe."
"Tiger, you’ve grown up..."
The Snow Tiger Witch was speechless.
’Bullshit! I’m about to meet the Beast God, and you’re talking to me like I’m one of your own cubs? I’m not taking that from you!’
’Now that my bluff has succeeded, I need to seal the deal.’
"Too many of our Beastman Warriors die every year on the salt trade. So this time, I’ll share some of the salt I got with you. If the Shuishan Tribe doesn’t come next year, we can discuss going back to the Sea Side Tribe to trade for salt."
The Black Wolf Witch frowned, his gaze falling on the Snow Tiger Witch’s wrinkled face. "Is the salt you got enough for our four tribes to split?"
The Snow Tiger Witch proudly jutted out his chin. "I spent five Crystal Cores, so of course it’s enough."
At this, the witches excitedly sat back down at the stone table, launching into a happy discussion while resuming their feast.
The Snow Tiger Witch turned around with a sigh of relief, only to find Wu Yue and Yuan Lang staring at him, their eyes burning with intense admiration.
’Meow, meow, meow?’
’What’s going on?’
"Witch, you’re so wise! I never would have guessed you were the most cunning one of all."
Yuan Lang nodded in deep agreement. "You’re a real pro at swindling your friends."
The "wise" Snow Tiger Witch basked in Wu Yue’s praise for a moment before snapping back to reality. "What was that?"
Still feeling a bit full of himself, the Snow Tiger Witch cleared his throat and jutted out his chin. "But of course. You really think I became the witch for nothing?"
With that, he turned away, humming contentedly, to discuss the salt distribution with his three old friends.
After an intense discussion, the Snow Tiger Witch "painfully" agreed to trade more than half of the salt to the three tribes.
The witches from the three tribes exchanged a look, their excitement palpable. They were all grinning so wide their gums were showing.
"I’m heading back first."
Watching the witches carousing in the courtyard ahead, Yuan Lang leaned in and whispered in the ear of the young female beside him.
Wu Yue looked up at him and followed his gaze to the spot where they had been curing the salted meat. She understood instantly. "Alright, go on."
A smile touched the beastman’s lips. He nodded and headed out.
Teng Qian watched in horror as the female on top of him tore at his Beast Skin clothes. The thought of becoming mates with a female even more powerfully built than himself made his once-bright future seem utterly bleak.
"Teng Qian, come out."
A deep, beastman’s voice sounded from outside. Teng Qian, who had been lying there resigned to being ravaged, first went stiff. Then, he grabbed the female still tearing at his clothes, lifted her aside, tightened his Beast Skin loincloth, and dashed outside.
"Coming, I’m coming!"
The female beastman looked at the scattered Beast Skins on the floor, then rubbed the back of her neck where he’d just grabbed her. She let out a "heheheh" chuckle.
’That rascal! Teng Qian was totally into it.’
’So next time, I can’t hold back. I’ll just have to go all the way.’
With this thought, she let out a howl and threw herself onto her massive kang—a heated bed big enough for four or five strong men—and began to roll around. She kept howling excitedly as she tumbled about, absolutely thrilled.
Meanwhile, Teng Qian, who had been hustled away by his leader, arrived with a few of his brothers at another Storage Cave in the mountain behind the tribe.
"Boss, where should we put all this salt?"
Each of the Beastman Warriors carried a basket on his back half as tall as he was. The baskets were lined with large leaves and filled to the brim with pale blue, crystalline salt.
"Take it to the tribe’s storehouses."
When the Snow Tiger Tribe built their homes, they also constructed a series of storehouses to hold the food turned in by the Hunting Team and Collection Team.
The front row of storehouses was already full, packed with various dried fruits and vegetables prepared by the females.
The next day, before dawn, the Black Wolf Witch sprang from the kang with an agility that defied his age.
Looking at the three old codgers still snoring beside him, the Black Wolf Witch glanced down at his own dry feet. With a "hehe" chuckle, he stretched his villainous feet toward them.
