Chapter 524: Chapter 394: The Snow Tiger Witch’s Unintentional Wisdom
Wu Yue’s small face wrinkled. "Let’s just forget about it. I don’t mind teaching others, but doing it myself... that’s asking a bit much."
Yuan Lang chuckled. "You’re certainly careful to protect your reputation."
Wu Yue just offered a dry laugh and said nothing.
"Yue! People from the Lion Tribe, Gray Wolf Tribe, and Flying Eagle Tribe are here!"
Qingcao, seeing two figures—one tall, one short—in the distance, stopped running and simply stood where she was, hollering at the top of her lungs.
It was a perfect demonstration of just how powerful and penetrating a voice trained in the Beast World—where communication relied almost entirely on shouting—could be.
Wu Yue looked over at the sound of her voice, only to see that Qingcao had already squatted down and was chatting with a few female members of the tribe about who-knows-what.
’So, is this how you always deliver messages? So carelessly?’
She stroked her chin, suddenly thinking she should go back and tell Grandma Lu Shui they might as well just change Qingcao’s name to "Rash."
The two of them made their way to the witch’s residence, where the courtyard was already bustling with activity.
Seeing the three familiar figures sitting around the Snow Tiger Witch, Wu Yue couldn’t help but question her own reality. ’Aren’t witches supposed to be incredibly busy? Don’t they only leave their own tribes when something major has happened?’
’Why are the witches from these three tribes so idle? They come running to our tribe at the drop of a hat.’
"Yue, Yuan Lang, hurry and come in."
The Snow Tiger Witch wiped the sweat from his brow, feeling like the three old codgers beside him were about to drive him crazy.
Watching the Snow Tiger Witch jog all the way over to them, Wu Yue wiped the sweat from her own face.
’You’re the witch of a tribe, for goodness’ sake. That bouncy little jog of yours is completely beneath your station.’
Perhaps because they had just arrived, the three visiting witches were currently stuffing their faces, not sparing even a single glance for the Snow Tiger Witch who had eagerly trotted over.
"Witch, the trade meet just ended not long ago. Why are these three witches here again?"
Wu Yue was completely bewildered.
The Snow Tiger Witch shot a disdainful look at the three old codgers and their atrocious table manners. "Those three old coots are still hung up on the salt situation. They came this time to discuss everyone going to the Sea Tribe together to trade for salt."
Wu Yue’s expression stiffened, and she felt a pang of guilt.
’Their tribe had a surplus of salt now; why would they still need the Beastman Warriors to risk their lives traveling to such a faraway place to trade for it?’
’She knew perfectly well where the tribe’s salt came from, but could she actually say it out loud?’
The three of them glanced furtively at the Black Wolf Witch, who was happily gnawing on a chunk of meat, and they all couldn’t help but feel a little guilty.
"Actually, there’s something I’ve been meaning to say for a while. It was my fault before. The Salt Crystal Stones I took out were the kind that the little beasts eat."
"But the coarse salt from the Sea Side Tribe turns white after it’s boiled in water."
"If they boil ours in water too, they’ll definitely find out."
Wu Yue said in a low voice.
The Snow Tiger Witch’s expression changed instantly. "What do we do? If that old coot Black Wolf finds out where our tribe’s salt is coming from..."
He didn’t dare to imagine the "wonderful" future that would follow.
"What are you three whispering about over there?"
The Black Wolf Witch flicked the grease from his hands, his eyes narrowing as he stared at the furtive trio not far away.
His words carried weight. The Flying Eagle Witch and the Lion Witch, who had still been stuffing food into their mouths, both put down their meal and looked over at them.
The Snow Tiger Witch gave a dry laugh and rubbed his hands together. "Just discussing a little something. Why are you asking so many questions?"
"Besides, with our years of friendship, am I the kind of person who would hide things from you?"
The three tribe witches all gave him a look that clearly said, ’Take a good look at yourself. Have you no self-awareness?’
The Snow Tiger Witch choked with anger, stamping his foot and squawking, "What’s with that look? I was just asking Yue when the people from the Shuishan Tribe are coming."
"If the Shuishan Tribe only comes once a year, do you really expect us to just trade our salt to you?"
After he said this, the expressions of the three witches opposite him changed.
"Tiger, during the trade meet, didn’t you say there was no such thing as a Shuishan Tribe?"
Since this was about salt, the three witches stopped eating. They immediately stood up and stared at the Snow Tiger Witch with grave expressions.
The Snow Tiger Witch: "..."
’Crap! I let it slip...’
He scratched his head awkwardly, shuffling back to the stone table with an expression like he was bearing an unbearable weight.
"It’s not that I wouldn’t tell you... It’s just... sigh!
That witch was right. I don’t know where the Shuishan Tribe came from, and I don’t know if they can come back every year.
They didn’t bring much salt this year, but I used a few Crystal Cores and traded for all of it."
As he spoke, he gave the Black Wolf Witch and the others a pained look. "My thinking was, if the Shuishan Tribe comes again, I’d have them stay and then notify you all to come and trade.
