Chapter 2483: Chapter 2547: You Know What to Do, Right?
"Hit someone?" District Chief Yue’s mood lifted as he asked, and the chief hurried to explain, "The person is fine, just a leg injury, currently in the hospital."
"Don’t get ahead of yourself, clarify what happened. Yue Liang hit someone while driving, that’s his fault. Whether his father is the district chief or an ordinary citizen, responsibility means accountability; compensation should be made." District Chief Yue spoke with righteous fervor.
"Yes, yes, District Chief, your guidance is correct. I don’t know much, but I’ll repeat what they reported to me." The chief recounted what he knew, artistically processing it before reporting it to District Chief Yue.
District Chief Yue listened, frowned and thought for a moment before speaking slowly, "You’re saying the injured person’s family is causing trouble at the hospital, and they’ve called the police to arrest Yue Liang?"
The chief nodded vigorously, saying, "That’s what they reported, but I need to go back and understand more. However, the injured person’s family attacked the police earlier, and it seems they stole the police’s gun. District Chief, I know you’re very busy, and I shouldn’t trouble you, but since this happened, how do you think it should be handled..."
Handle it? Damn, daring to frame my son, and you ask me how to handle it? District Chief Yue’s fair complexion darkened, his smile faded as he said, "As I said, responsibility must be taken, but what’s not should also be reviewed depending on the other side’s attitude. Hitting someone is wrong, but the person ran the red light and broke traffic rules first, and it’s not very serious. Why should the family cause trouble? Also daring to attack police and steal guns, it’s utter chaos!"
Saying this, District Chief Yue slapped the table, showing his displeasure. The chief quickly smiled placatingly, saying, "District Chief, please don’t be angry, I’ll immediately handle it and ensure Yue Liang isn’t implicated."
"You’re causing trouble too!" District Chief Yue glared at him and reproached, "Don’t speak recklessly. Haven’t you understood what I said? Responsibility must be taken, but according to the law for what’s not. If it turns out to be blackmail, now there are so many blackmail cases. Who can guarantee the other side isn’t doing it purposely? Don’t rush, first control the injured person’s family, daring to attack police and steal guns, it’s a riot!"
The instructor truthfully told the chief, but when it reached District Chief Yue, it changed to ingratiate him since Yue’s the big boss. However, in trying to please, the matter’s flavor changed later; whether the chief did this on purpose is uncertain, but now he’s in a position of taking responsibility, assuring the district chief.
"Yes, yes, District Chief, rest assured I’ll handle it well." The chief nodded hurriedly.
Only then did District Chief Yue look approvingly at the chief, saying, "Go. I’ll also call the kid, how could he be so careless? If he really crashes badly, I’ll have to ground him and ban him from driving."
"No need for that, Yue Liang is quite compliant, driving accidents are sometimes unavoidable, District Chief, don’t ground Yue Liang, this isn’t a big deal..."
"Enough, go handle it, you know my stance." District Chief Yue raised his chin slightly, indicating.
"Certainly, certainly." The chief bowed and left, precisely as he’s the sub-bureau chief with vice-director rank, though high in setup, also a development zone committee member named Wang Gang, a common name, though likely to not remain common shortly.
Leaving the District Committee, he immediately made several calls, deploying the SWAT team to nab the troublemakers at the hospital, and drove there himself.
He also contemplated handling this matter, finishing bootlicking District Chief Yue, ensuring a promise, so matters must be done properly without errors. Damn, what’s the point of causing trouble other than to extort money? But don’t steal guns, if reporters know and spread it, he’ll also suffer.
What a mess, Wang Gang thought more about it as he struck the steering wheel, determined to handle it strictly; daring to steal guns would mean punishment, for those thinking of making money by causing trouble, forget it, what nonsense dare cause trouble, he’ll ensure they never dare again.
As the sub-bureau chief, Wang Gang’s power isn’t small, given it’s a new development area with substantial policy benefits and perks. He drove an oversized Audi A6L, using a borrowed Range Rover for off-hours, graciously lent by a company boss, already unconditionally for over a year, likely hard to retrieve since Wang Gang remains in office.
At the hospital, Li Yifei initially agreed to move to the hospital’s meeting room rather than stay outside. While he might not mind the impact, the police and hospital care about it, with guns fired and people hit, including police.
The suggestion came from the policeman who supported Li Yifei earlier, not very old, with a sense of justice in his demeanor seemingly undiluted by corrupt influences. He approached and suggested it casually, and Li Yifei agreed, indifferent yet cooperative, needing no insistence if others came for trivialities.
Li Yifei’s agreement relieved the man, thanking briefly, then communicating with the hospital to lend their meeting room for Li Yifei and the police to handle the situation.
The meeting room was in a nearby small building, next door. Li Yifei sat majestically in a chair, surrounded by police, with Yang Jin and the instructor present, somewhat dejected, afraid of Li Yifei facing punishment after being beaten and facing political repercussions.
"The chief’s on the way," the instructor reported a call, speaking vaguely, mouth swollen and painful, grimacing but unable to leave or seek treatment. However, the person with a broken leg, allowed by Li Yifei for treatment, if the instructor’s attitude wasn’t notably decent afterward, Li Yifei would have even broken his leg, father-in-law broke his leg, then everyone should too.
Of course, Li Yifei didn’t target everyone; it was only Yang Jin, the instructor, and the policeman with the gun who got a rough time. The others were not in trouble.
Li Yifei sent a message to Xu Yingying, telling her not to worry, and that he would handle the situation and give justice to the father-in-law.
"Okay, honey, be careful. I’m planning to ask the doctor for a thorough check-up to make sure..." Xu Yingying said.
"Sure, but I’ll handle the treatment. Don’t worry, with me around, our dad and mom will live long and healthily!" Li Yifei reassured.
"I know, it’s just a check-up, might as well," Xu Yingying replied.
"Alright, go ahead. I’ll return to the ward when I’m done here," Li Yifei said.
He would go back once everything was done here. But it seemed like this would take some time. Wang Gang drove over, and a SWAT team was already on standby at the hospital entrance. The passersby were all glancing curiously, not knowing what had happened. As Wang Gang got out of the car and scanned the surroundings, he nodded to the SWAT team captain and said, "Do you know what’s going on?"
"Chief Wang, not entirely clear..." the captain said.
Wang Gang frowned. This SWAT team wasn’t under his direct authority, so they didn’t usually heed his commands much. However, he explained the situation, to which the SWAT captain, somewhat speechless, said, "Disturbance caused by family members? Can’t your people handle this kind of thing?"
"What are you saying? Didn’t I tell you they assaulted officers?" Wang Gang replied.
"That’s no big deal, just a few ordinary people. Just send more police officers."
Wang Gang hesitated and said, "They also stole a gun..."
"Holy crap!" The SWAT captain’s eyes widened as he stared at Wang Gang, "Chief Wang, that’s quite tricky! You only mentioned arresting troublemakers, not that a gun was stolen. The guys came without much equipment!"
"It’s not a big deal, just a police handgun. They’re already in the meeting room, the place is small, easy to handle, and they’re all ordinary people who won’t resist if you scare them." Wang Gang said.
"This issue... should be reported upwards, having a gun stolen is no small matter." the SWAT captain said.
"No need for reports, just keep saying there’s no problem. I owe you a favor for this, worst comes to worst, I’ll go up with you and take responsibility if anything happens!" Wang Gang patted his chest and added quietly, leaning closer, "This matter involves District Chief Yue, you’ll gain his favor."
"That’s more like it, alright, let me make arrangements. We’ll head upstairs in five minutes!" The SWAT captain finally agreed.
Having the favor of the District Chief was a good thing. Everyone knew the new development zone was flush with money. The team’s budget and such weren’t ample, so sponsorship from the district would be welcome news.
Wang Gang looked up at the nearby building. Based on reports, the perpetrators were inside there. However, their situation wasn’t hostage-taking; they were just waiting for him grandly, so he kept some information from the SWAT captain and didn’t fully disclose the situation.
Five minutes later, the SWAT team moved into position quickly, despite claims of being unequipped, they did have firearms, and snipers were even set up in the distance. They were well-prepared. Wang Gang followed them upstairs. From a distance, he looked up, feeling a sense of unease. Handling this well could leave a good impression on District Chief Yue, but if it went wrong, it wouldn’t be good.
The team moved quickly upstairs, and the SWAT captain walked alongside Wang Gang. With a few hand gestures, the SWAT team took their positions.
In the meeting room, Li Yifei opened his eyes, calmly glancing at the group of policemen. They were quiet and all standing. Li Yifei said, "Your chief is here."
"Huh?" They didn’t hear any footsteps or sense anyone coming, so someone was about to go out to greet them, but Li Yifei said, "He’s already at the second floor, open the door."
