Chapter 184: Troublesome Young Master
No One’s POV
The exact moment Lily pushed open the wooden door and went inside the quiet detention room, her eyes immediately fell on someone sitting right in the back row. He was leaning carelessly against his chair, his feet propped up on the desk, totally absorbed in his phone playing game.
Hearing the door click, Lucian looked up to see who had dared to join him in his private space.
To his immense surprise, it was none other than Lily. A mocking smirk slowly played on his lips. He quickly finished his game match, took off his phone from his hands, and set it aside on the desk.
"Oh ho? Seems like someone got themselves into a lot of trouble just on their very next day of school," Lucian said smoothly, his voice dripping with his usual classy arrogance.
"Greetings to you too, Young Master," Lily replied in her usual stone-faced manner, completely unbothered by his teasing tone. She walked down the aisle and sat down at a desk a few rows away from him.
The strict teacher who was supposed to watch the room had stepped out, so it was currently only the two of them alone in the quiet classroom.
Lily calmly took out her notebook and a pencil from her bag, immediately focusing her mind and starting to do her homework. But even though she kept her head down, she could clearly feel someone’s intense, burning gaze tracking her every single move. The heavy silence in the room was suffocating. Unable to focus on her writing, she slowly looked up from her paper.
Lucian hadn’t looked away at all; he kept staring directly at her with a highly satisfied, proud expression, waiting for her to break.
"Is there any problem, Young Master?" she asked blankly, her dark eyes locking onto his.
"Now that you have finally asked," Lucian chuckled, leaning forward and resting his chin on his hands, his smirk growing even wider. "If you happen to have any burning questions from last night, you can feel free to ask me right now. Like, for example, the sna- "
He got completely cut off before he could even finish pronouncing the word snakes.
"Yes, I actually do," Lily said, her voice dropping to a serious tone that instantly made his smug smile freeze.
"Were you the one who ordered a hit on my lady last night?" Lily asked directly, her eyes staring at him like two cold pieces of ice.
Lucian looked genuinely confused for a brief bit, his eyebrows knitting together in surprise.
But he quickly recovered his cool posture, and a wide, teasing smirk played back on his lips. "And why exactly should I tell you that?" he replied, leaning back in his chair, thoroughly enjoying the fact that he was keeping her guessing.
Lily didn’t argue or demand anything more. She only gave a short, quiet hum and casually turned back to do her homework, completely ignoring his presence once again.
Lucian’s smug smile dropped, and he frowned deeply in irritation. He hated being ignored more than anything else in the world. Wanting to force her to talk to him, a sudden idea came to his mind.
"Hey. I will actually tell you the whole truth about last night, but only if you do all of my difficult homework for me first."
Lily looked up from her notebook, her face totally blank. "Okay," she said simply.
Lucian smirked triumphantly, thinking he had finally won this round. He grabbed his textbooks and worksheets from his desk, walked over, and handed them all to her with a proud grin.
Without saying a single word, Lily picked up his pen and started working on the math problems and essays. She did them all without any hesitation, while Lucian just sat on the edge of the desk right beside her, staring at her the entire time.
He was trying to figure her out, but her face remained as still as stone.
After some time passed, Lily closed the last textbook and tapped the neat stack of papers. "Here," she said, handing them directly back to him.
Lucian was completely surprised and shocked to see that she had finished every single difficult problem perfectly. He stared at the neat handwriting. Was this girl really just a random maid bought from a shady slave market? Her intelligence and speed were completely abnormal for a commoner.
"Now, as according to our official deal, you should answer my question," Lily reminded him, her dark eyes looking straight into his.
Lucian took the books from her hands and leaned down closer to her face to intimidate her. But the exact moment he leaned in, he could smell that faint, unique, and comforting sweet scent on her body again- the same wild flower smell from the PE uniform.
Suddenly, the tips of his ears turned bright red against his white-blonde hair. Feeling a rush of heat up his neck, he quickly pulled away, feeling intensely frustrated by his own strange reaction.
"I don’t have a good mood to say anything anymore, so I won’t," he muttered arrogantly, completely breaking his promise just to spite her.
Exactly then, the classroom door opened, and the detention teacher finally walked back inside the room. Lucian instantly looked up, packing his bags with a confident smirk.
"Teacher, I have completely finished all of my homework assignment sheets, so I can leave early, right?" Lucian asked smoothly, showing off the papers Lily had just written for him.
The teacher looked down at the neatly completed work, nodded her head in approval, and waved her hand. "Yes, Lucian. You are free to go."
Lucian picked up his bag, gave Lily an arrogant victory smile as if he had just won a grand war, and proudly left the detention room.
Lily’s eyebrows furrowed deeply as she watched the door click shut behind him. For the very first time since she had arrived in this bizarre family, she genuinely felt like this proud young master was going to be an incredibly troublesome problem to deal with.
Finally, the loud school bell rang across the hallway, signaling that the long detention hour was officially over. Lily was finally free to go.
But instead of immediately heading out to visit her young lady, she quietly took another, completely different route through the back corridors of the school. She had a small piece of business to take care of first.
Meanwhile, Viella was standing outside the main academy gates, shifting her weight from foot to foot as she waited anxiously for Lily to come out. She looked at the giant school clock, her eyebrows knitting together in deep worry.
"Her detention should be completely done by now... where in the world is she?" Viella muttered to herself, clutching her school bag tightly.
As she was about to turn around to walk back inside the building to look for her maid, she suddenly bumped straight into someone.
It was the exact same bully from the washroom earlier. The girl still had a thick white bandage wrapped tightly around her bruised wrist, and she sneered deeply the moment she saw Viella standing alone.
"Oh, look who it is. Still waiting around for your pathetic little guard dog?" The girl let out a loud, mocking laugh. "Pfft! She probably got terrified and ran away back to the slums after finally learning her lesson today. No one dares to mess with me in this school," the girl said proudly. She gave Viella one last dirty look, turned around on her heel, and arrogantly walked away down the path.
Viella felt incredibly irritated and angry, her small fists clenching tightly at her sides. She wanted to scream back at her, but she forced herself to stay quiet. Just then, a familiar, calm voice echoed from right behind her.
"My Lady."
Viella quickly turned around, her face instantly lighting up with pure relief.
"I deeply apologize for making you wait out here for so long," Lily said smoothly, stepping out from the shadows of the courtyard. Her uniform was perfectly neat, and her face was as calm and emotionless as a still lake.
"It’s completely fine, Lily! I’m just so glad you’re okay. Let’s go home," Viella said happily, completely forgetting about the mean girl as she started walking toward their waiting car.
Lily followed closely behind her little lady. Before stepping into the vehicle, she paused for a brief second and casually glanced back at the retreating figure of the bully in the distance.
Her dark eyes grew incredibly cold, narrowing into a glare.
Lily knew exactly what route that girl took to go home, and she knew exactly how to make people disappear without leaving a single trace.
Anyone who dared to mess with her lady... would absolutely have to face the heavy consequences.

As the quiet night fell over the massive mansion, Lily stood perfectly still in the shadows, looking down at her young lady’s peaceful, sleeping form.
She decided to stay awake and guard the room again, keeping a sharp eye out for any potential assassin attacks like the one from the night before. But as she stood there in the dark, her mind wandered back to her strange encounter with Lucian in the detention room today.
She carefully replayed the moment she had asked him that direct question about the hit on Viella. The sudden shock and genuine confusion in his eyes had been completely visible for a split second before he masked it with a smirk.
Lucian was arrogant and loved to brag about his cruel tricks, which only meant one thing: he himself didn’t know anything about the break-in at all. He was truly innocent...this time.
"Then who can it possibly be?" she thought deeply to herself, her eyes narrowing as she stared out into the moonlit hallway.
There were only two powerful people in this entire household who had the ultimate authority to orchestrate something like that without raising the alarms. If it wasn’t the young master Lucian, then it must be...
Mr. Viella.
Lily’s eyes stared glowing as she turned and left the room.
