Chapter 887: Why Am I Doing This?

Even with all the power in Gina’s spell, the attack still wasn’t enough to kill the Bengari warriors, and it didn’t even take a second before another group of Bengari took their place and charged straight towards Gina! Gina glanced down at the battle below, and she saw that the Legion had already killed a few Bengari, but that number was nothing when compared to the number of Legion subordinates that the Bengari had killed! The Bengari had decimated close to two thousand of the Legion subordinates already, and it was only the fact that Jason’s [Revival] skill was on autopilot and reviving any Legion subordinate that died that allowed the Legion to keep up with the Bengari at all! But at this rate, Gina was worried that the Legion might be taking too much mana from Jason! Gina knew that Jason was in a battle of his own against two powerful opponents, so he needed all the mana he could get!

Since things had come this far, it was time for them to even the odds! Gina sent a message out to all the Legion subordinates and told them to resurrect all the Bengari that they had killed, and the Legion subordinates wasted no time as they activated [Remote Resurrection]!

DOON!

A massive wave of mana tore through the area as more than a hundred Bengari warriors began crawling their way out of their dead bodies! The newly resurrected women looked towards their previous comrades with hostile gazes, but the remaining Bengari soldiers didn’t even look like they cared! The Bengari let out loud battle cries as they charged against the Legion, and the Legion wasted no time as they charged into battle as well!

Jason glanced to the side as he saw this notification pop up on the system, and he realised that his Legion must have used remote resurrection. Jason knew that Gina was the one who instructed them to do it, and Jason was just glad that Gina was there to handle things while he took care of this bitch. But Jason was still waiting for the notification telling him that he had killed the large serpent boss. Once the boss dies, Jason would instruct Arcticus and the boss to go and handle the Bengari warriors, and Jason was sure that the Bengari wouldn’t have anything to counter an assault from those two powerhouses.

Jason looked back over to where Diane was standing. There were thousands of shadow soldiers surrounding Diane on all sides, and now that Jason had taken away the art of [Rune Crafting], Jason could almost see the cogs in Diane’s head spinning as she came up with the best way to handle this situation! Jason had already figured that Diane’s biggest problem was the fact that she relied far too much on both runes and artefacts. The Bengari women were known to be very traditional, so it was normal for them to draw hundreds of runes on their bodies before going into war! But it was just like Jason had said before! Runes were useful tools, but it was a bad idea to think that they could replace traditional training!

A mage that reached the peak of TITAN Rank III using runes and another mage that reached the peak of TITAN Rank III using their own power were not the same! So even if Diane still had all her artefacts and they were working just fine, Jason knew that removing her runes was the best thing to do!

Diane looked around herself with narrowed eyes, and she wondered why she was doing this. There was a hazy feeling inside of Diane’s head, like a dark cloud that covered the forest of her mind and prevented her from thinking clearly! Inside that cloud, there was a familiar voice that whispered things to her and urged her forward to fight!

This is the man who looked down on you!

This is the man who took your title from you!

This is the man who thinks he’s better than you!

Fight him!

Kill him!

Destroy him!

The voice echoed in Diane’s head on repeat, and Diane found her anger rising the longer she listened! Diane’s hand tightened around her sword, and she glared up at Jason with even more fury behind her eyes! Diane didn’t know why she was doing this, but Diane knew that she wanted to do this! Deep down in Diane’s heart, it didn’t matter what the voice was whispering to her, and it didn’t matter what the consequences would be! Diane wanted to take this man down and show the council that she deserved the seat of the Overlord! They dared to look down on her!? Diane would show them why their decision was wrong!

Although Diane didn’t know it, this was exactly how the first attribute of the [Arcane Art of Mind] worked. The Mind Arcane Art was seen as one of the most dangerous of the six arts, and this was mainly because of how easily it could take control of the minds of others. All that was needed was a suggestion, or a push in the desired direction, and most people wouldn’t even know that they were under someone else’s control. Right now, Diane didn’t believe that she was under the control of anyone, and she thought that her current actions were because of her own desires. Taking over someone’s mind was a delicate process, and although it was possible to use force to bend people to your will, the mind art user had discovered that encouraging people to go in a certain direction had proven to be far more dangerous since it made people carry out their tasks with more deadly efficiency!

This was the same method that the mind arts user used to push the Machina to attack Earth and open this Blue Gate. The Machina didn’t know why they attacked Earth. Even though the Machina had the justification and a motive for attacking Earth, they didn’t know why they launched the attack at that moment and in that manner. All they knew was that there was something at the back of their minds pushing them to attack!

Right now, all Diane knew was that she had a deep-seated hatred for Jason because of how he embarrassed her, and she was only getting revenge! The consequences and the reasons didn’t matter at all! As far as Diane was concerned, she would deal with those things after she fulfilled her ambition! Diane crouched in a ready position, and she exploded off the ground!

BOOM!

Diane was like a comet in the sky as she flew towards Jason, and a large shadow giant suddenly appeared between the two of them and tried to swat Diane out of the air! But Diane easily spun around and unleashed a slash that tore the giant straight in half! Even without her runes, Diane was still a TITAN Rank III, and that meant that she had more than enough power to take on all the shadow soldiers! Diane pulled out an artefact and threw it into the air, and it glowed blue before it unleashed hundreds of blue light swords that stabbed through many of the shadow soldiers around her! The shadows screeched in pain as the light struck them, and Diane took off and continued heading straight for Jason!

BOOM!
